2 bids knocked back by st Johnstone for o'halloran. they say they won't sell on the cheap. does anyone else agree that he isn't that great?

Totally agree forfarger if he didn't have 1 good game against us in the cup I doubt many would even know who he was. not for me this one.

Don't think he is worth 600.000 but to go in with daft we bids make the club look bad need to up there game to get good players.

I agree he did rip us apart, that doesn't make him a good player for having one good game, in my opinion we don't need him for us to win this league and I don't think he is the answer for when we get promoted.

think he is a great prospect would do us a great turn pacey direct and with the chance we as a team create I think he will score for fun .
mckay left wing ohalloren right wing waggy through the middle sounds perfeect for this and next season for me.

Just checked his stats,5 goals in 23 games, many people on here say we need a goal scorer and have said that waghorn wasn't a goal scorer, stats speak for themselves guys, o'halloran isn't the player we need in my honest opinion.

I think with the way we play, he would be great tbh, he will recieve ball a lot more which should equal more goals for him eventually. The pace in our final third from mackay, holt and o'halloran will be unbelievable.

We could use the money that we are intending to spend on him and give the latvian boy wages more in line with what he wants. Unless they are way too high. A striker is just want we need not another winger or to the boy at brentford.

we keep being reminded by others, that we are ONLY a championship team, we and everybody else apparently knows we have no ready cash. Where do these teams think we are going to get upwards of half a mill for a squad player at best?
The days of holding Rangers to ransom on transfer fees are and should remain gone.
That's one of the reason MW and co, are going down south for 'gems', because we have been ripped off for years up here with inflated transfer fees being demanded.
I would have thought, given the state of Scottish Football, that 1 or 200k would be like golddust to most teams, but no, its Rangers add another '0' on to the fee!

I agree that there is better options about. Luckily our insultingly low bids will never get accepted so he won't be joining anyway.

Saints want £450k, triple our 2nd bid which was £150k, they said they can generate £600k with top 6 finish and cup final appearance which selling him could cost. I think we will get him for around £300k plus add ons.
He was SPFL player of the month in December I believe so it wasn't just 1 good game against us that has got Warburtons attention. In our present system we have Miller, McKay and Wags with Miller and Wags rotating between RW and CF I think Warbs wants O Halloran to be fighting with Miller and Wags for 2/3 positions with Miller most likely to be dropped to the bench and to be able to replace either of the other 2 in final 20 mins or so in games. He will most likely play Wags more central and despite O Hallorans poor goal ratio I think it would be a good piece of business as he would fit in well and his pace being a real asset.
Warburton specialises in improving young hungry players and the majority of his signings have been impressive thus far.
Also expect Brentford DCM to sign for £500k before window shuts.

I have to agree this one does not exactly excite me however if MW thinks he will fit then I trust his judgement, don't think he has had much wrong till now so in warbs we trust!

Waste of time going for ohalloran, best putting more money into the guy from Brentford as we need him more I would say. I would also keep pursuing the Latvian as we need a direct cf in case waggy gets injured, let ohalloran rot where he belongs.

Have to agree with forfarger.

Hopefully this deal won't happen as he is the wrong type of player- pace is his main asset and doesn't do much good when we are playing against teams that defend the box.

We need either a physical target man to offer a different option or a cultured creative who can open the door.

Symptom of lack of a scouting network, would we be considering him had we not played them in the cup?

Maybe its down to having a scout Luigi. How often have people seen him play? Once or twice when they have a televised game.

everyone keeps banging on about the latvian, he is playing at a level on par with my local sunday league he wants extortionate wages i would jog him on a goal scoring record isn't everything look at nicky clark.

I for one. and this is just MY opinion. I wouldn't give another Scottish club any of our money. ALL those clubs wanted us dead and buried and some still do. As soon as the Rangers show an interest, they try and over inflate the players value. happens to the other mob too. Gone are the days when we would throw money out on a player but at the end of the day, both sides were happy. Now, clubs think they have a right to do the same again, even after what they tried to do to us. Screw the lot of them! We get slated for putting in derisory offers. that's business. test the water. see what reaction you get. Not for me with ANY Scottish club. there's talent elsewhere. They made their bed. let them lie in it.

Some people seem to think that because this guy's pacy he'll fit into the system. Wrong. When you are a counter attacking side, a striker with pace works, but when you're playing against teams that park the bus his pace becomes irrelevant and you need other qualities, like an eye for goal, and decent movement, which this boy just doesn't have.

18.) 14 Jan 2016
14 Jan 2016 20:22:38
Those teams will move up the park at some point. They cannot afford to give a fast player a whole half to play into so if they defend deeper it creates more space for players like waghorn McKay and holt breaking forward.

Wee-ecky, you make a fantastic point here mate, anyone with a good football will understand what you're saying, bang on the money my friend!

Gersey 11 - what a daft comment. Where did Holt come from? A Scottish club (Hearts) . He is the best payter at Ibrox and is worth multiples of £65k. Rangers should buy the best no matter who they play for. You weaken the competition by buying locally.

Not every club wanted Rangers dead. The ones I hate most is Dundee Utd. I want them down!

21.) 14 Jan 2016
14 Jan 2016 22:39:07
Gersey11 def know were your coming from mate, but let's not go to their levels, let's go about our business with dignity, get back to were we belong, we can't call for boycotting any away games if that's what some of us are thinking because that only benefits the home team, let's just do the talking on the park . And remember Jason Holt from scottish team!

I think o'halloran would be a great signing depending on the amount wed need to pay . If we can negotiate a good deal that suits us i honestly think this boy could be a great addition . Bearing in mind its a squad capable of competing on many fronts mw is trying to build i think this boy could add both qaulity and value i don't just think this because of his performance against us. i think this because in an any team you need a variety of options when competing against different opponents and i can definitely see why warburton would be interested in such a player . I for one hope signs and i think if he does there will be a few people surprised at his ability.
