Just read that a second tier German side are interested in Senderos.

They can have him.

Just leaves us with a problem, transfer window won't last forever.

I'll donate a tenner towards his ticket to Munich.

what is it seven days of the window left we need to get the finger out so to speak.

Understand why some fans want him - but he's got major fitness issues and has done for several years.

No point signing someone who will spend most their time on physio table.

That's ignoring whether you rate him or not.

I really hope we have something else up our sleeve.

Is the window not only for transfers from club to club. Isn't there an extended one for free transfers?

There is no window for free agents as far as I am aware?

Mark I think if a player has been unattached during the window then yes you can still bring him in after it closes, however I'm not sure what the spfl regulations are as I believe you have to submit your final squad for registration before a certain date. Could be wrong though.

Mr Nice who do you want us to sign? Clear that the lad Marriappa is waiting for Hull.

mr nice I agree with u for a change i'd like us to get our finger out and get sum1 with pace and is a good cb.
why can't we get bougherra back or go for that lad kyle bartley who looked promising to me 5 years ago he will be 24 now and I think he is with leeds I think its worth getting bougy in at least u know he has the knowhow of the Scottish game and is very keen on coming back and would do so for very little money.

The problem we have is that Kiran is woeful, Hill is past it and Wilson is consequently the lesser of three evils even though he is himself of limited ability. As a consequence we need at least one quality centre back and perhaps two. One of them needs to be strong in the air, able to read the game and ideally, able to organise the defence. Unless the same player is also quick then the second centre back needs to have speed. Mariappa would have been ideal but absurdly we appear to have failed to give him the deal that he wanted so we went for Lescott, (who is not as good a centre half), and what ever the reason he did not sign. So we are left with Senderos, maybe, (albeit that there is no guarantee that he will sign), or the two week links from last season and Hill. Not a very inspiring option if we are hoping to win or come a close second in the SPL.
We have until midnight on August 31st to resolve matters, (unless we sign a free transfer guy - and there don't appear to be many of those about other than the three that we have been dancing round)! The alternative doesn't bear thinking about unless we go to a traditional one centre back and use Crooks as a defensive midfield player in similar tradition to when we had Roberts and Butcher. The problem still remains that neither of Kiernan and Wilson come anywhere close to being remotely in the Terry Butcher class!

I've said it before Tom. The biggest problem we have is warburton sees a player in Kiernan. Kiernan will get a game before Wilson.

Sadly mark, that could be our downfall! Wilson was a good player when he was with us first time round. He made a mistake going to Liverpool although I sometimes wonder what part our owner at the time played in that given the hideous amount of money that we were offered for him.

He did look decent when at Hearts but was poor even last season, (although I can appreciate the comments from some that this has been down to the partnership with Kiernan) .

What I dread is how this partnership will shape up against Celtic, Hearts or Aberdeen and for me, Hill is not a realistic alternative.

Pur t simply, if Kiernan retains his position then I fear we will be embarrassed in a number of games. I hope I am wrong but I can't see it.

Fd- I honestly don't know. The club will know through agents who is available.

I really hope that we have something else in pipeline. The delay in signing senderos suggests to me that they do and he is the option of last resort. Time will tell.

What I would say is that the answer to our defensive problems lies on the training pitch, not in the transfer market.

Bartley is on loan from Swansea at leeds, Bougherra wouldn't be anywhere near what he once was and even at that he was susceptible to the odd mistake.

I agree Senderos might not be the long term solution, but i'd trust MW's guise, he's steered us through a decent market and in my opinion the only thing he hasn't addressed is that gap at the back. The way we play doesn't exactly help either with both CH's leaving a gap in between all the time.

Times running out for us to get a decent centre back in now, surely senderos would pick us over a 2nd their German team.

Do we all forget how kiernan and wilson played against manky mob in semi final. both were absolutely outstanding. difference that day was that they were afforded a bit of protection by ball. something that is badly lacking in every game. Every ball into the box is defended by these 2.with no help from the rest of the team. i'd be more worried why it takes us about 12 chances per goal scored rather than the odd bit of sloppy defending.
