I first heard the Berahino rumour on here and did not believe it. I am also still skeptical. However, the birmingham mail and the sun (not the scottish sun website) are reporting that Rangers are trying to sign the young man on a pre contract. £500,000 development fee would have to be paid.

He apparently knocked back 20 grand a week from west brom as well. Using twenty grand as a guide, (although he knocked it back apparently) i'm led to believe we were paying Barton similar wages. I do not want to get my hopes built up but this rumour doesn't sound unbelievable to me. Anyone else have any news on this?

Pre contract apparently would be massive if Rangers got this deal done! Personally think it might be to big. Definitely interest from Rangers though . Warbs feels he could pull it off as he's worked with the boy before at Brentford

Yeah I've heard this too, could actually be a shred of truth in it. We'd get the player for around 4-500k whereas he'd command a fee of around £20m from another eng premier team. However, he would only join us on the basis that we put in a £10m release clause in his contract. That means his next employer from eng prem would be getting a bargain and would enhance his personal terms plus we would no doubt have to give him or an agent a large chunk of the £10m fee we recieved. That being said berahino for 1/ 2 or a full season followed by a healthy chunk of a £10m transfer fee ain't bad business at all.

{Ed002's Note - No, that won't happen.}

Why not Ed?

{Ed002's Note - The business does not work like that at all - it is all complete nonsense.}

ed reading some of these rumours is really making me consider going to see a psychiatrist i tell ye rangers are going to sign berahino and i am going to win the national lottery on saturday. people are saying us rangers fans are deluded maybe i am starting to believe them. we simply have no money not even if it was to pull off a major signing like berahino. until we are back playing in europe regularly and the stuff with fat man ashley is sorted out then we knackered and the quicker people realise that the better. anyway off to find the number for my psychiatrist.

Interesting that you think that what I suggested is complete nonsense and that the business doesn't work like that at all. I'm not for a minute suggesting that berahino is on the way to Glasgow but the theory I suggested was one from superagent Jon Smith (a man who i'd imagine knows how the business works better than you ed)

afm do you think for one minute berahino is going to come up here just to help us out for half a season as you say i don't think so and risk himself getting seriously injured and miss out on a big move elsewhere. berahino will no doubt end up at spurs or maybe even head to china he seems like a money grabbing player so wouldn't surprise me if he ended up in china.

Away ye go Amf stop spraffing rubbish. 20k a week wages would be definitely worth it for what we could sell him on for. Get back to his normal self and start atrracting some big teams. Did spurs not put a 25k bid in for him last year when he put his transfer request rejected? Be a good bit of business for us. can't see it happening but can only dream 😀

Ed002 is the 'god' of these pages. If you read any of the others you will see that Ed002 has way more knowledge than anyone who posts on them. So Jon Smith probably doesn't know more. Ed002, nice to see u on this page.

For goodness sake folks. if celtic get a sniff at him for free on those type of wages they would just offer him double what we would offer him . and he would get one or 2 champions league games lol

A get what afm is saying if he comes to rangers we pay a 500 k cross border fee but if he signed for ie spurs it becomes the tribunals decision on the fee which would be close to the 20 million mark if he played for us for a year he could then be signed for whatever rangers want so a english team could get him for half the price ie 10 million and he don't have all the hassel of a tribunal to face and gets to keep playing football no team wants to go to a tribunal and could end up paying 20 million for a free agent

I am only elaborating on a rumour that is being spread by the papers. My point is that despite the players standing and the country that he plays in, I do not find the rumour unbelievable. It is based on the money that the papers are suggesting. Even for Rangers. We signed Dodoo and Rossiter similarly. I do not think it is impossible according to the figures being reported. But I still doubt it will happen. I hope I am wrong though.
