So I just read alistair johnstones interview there and he said the team will need some tweaking not a major overhaul. Then compared it to what brendan rodgers did at celtic, difference there is they had a settled winning squad when rodgers arrived. Added a couple of £3 million players and made them all better. So they must be bringing watty back as he is the only rangers manager to have performed miracles.

I agree if Walter came back with those players, he'd make them fitter, harder to beat, more aware of where they are what is happening, make them frightened to lose and I think he could win the league with them this year

If we are all perfectly honest the players that Pedro brought in are better than what we had. There is the making of a good team in there. We just need a no nonsense manager who understands that you can't always play attractive free flowing football in Scotland. Sometimes youve got to roll your sleeves you and get stuck in. This is exactly the philosophy that Souness brought to the club in the 80's and we all know what happened next!

why should walter come back and risk his legacy trying to get a tune out that squad he’s done a great job twice for us let the man enjoy his retirement

I heard Walter wasn't keeping too well so probs not such a good idea to put pressure on him. 're the team- I've said a good few times that I think there is a decent squad there and with a couple of good additions and 2 or 3 going the other way, if the right man comes in we would surprise a few. The main problem was always Pedro and to see some people on here still coming on and defending him is beyond me. For me there is an obvious choice for the new manager. Big Eck won 7 or 8 trophies with us including a treble and all with a limited budget. Also won a trophy in England and did very well as Scotland boss, only falling unluckily at the last hurdle against Italy during a qualification campaign. I'm mystified as to why so many Rangers fans do not want McLeish back.

Personally would hate to see Walter back. He did his time and was an exemplary manager and a true legend for us. And that is exactly how it should remain. He has not been coaching for the best part of a decade and we should be looking forward, not backward. The cold facts are that we need the same caliber of manager as Brenda. Someone with EPL experience, knows the SPL, its players. Has a good track record of bringing through youngsters but will also command respect from our senior players. That makes our options pretty limited. My own ideas would be to look at someone like Mike Phelan/ Paul Bento or Alan Pardew, although I think Pardew really doesn't like Scottish football. Chose Bento because he's Portuguese and unemployed, but has a decent pedigree. Mike Phelan, because you can't be that bad if you were Fergies right hand man right?
