Rumour I've heard is the mystery american backer is the Liverpool's owner's son. seemingly he's been given money by his father, John Henry, to bankroll Stevie while he cuts his teeth. Enough money to put Stevie on a level playing field.

Before I say this, I’m glad we didn’t sign Skirtel, anybody wanting 60k a week to play in our league = no thanks. Especially at nearly 34.

But if he had plenty money from this guy backing him, would he not just pay the wages for the man he wanted?
