Can someone explain to me why signing Shankland would be a bad idea? He's 23 and would probably cost less than 400k. If it didn't work he could be sold.
The Nicky Clark comparison isn't valid because Clark was playing in an even lower league.

The other thing folk aren't realising is that we got Morelos from the Finnish league, which is surely no better than the Scottish Championship. If we had that mentality with Morelos we would never have signed him and be talking about selling him for 15 million.

We won't get him for 400k before end of season, no incentive to sell him for that as if Ayr go up its worth about 1m to them. Might get him pre contract for next season.

I was one who compared to Clarke, but then I thought about Andy Robertson. It could go either way, but a low risk factor.

Morelos was too good for the Finnish league in the same way that he is too good for the scottish but you have to start somewhere. Shankland if he came would hardly get a start behind Lafferty and Morelos and would that be good for the lads development.

It's a pretty low risk move, I don't really see any reason why we shouldn't go for him, we need at least 1 or more attack minded midfielders that could allow us to play different formations effectively. That could allow playing with 1 or 2 up top but of course you need the right players for any formation, it would just be nice to be able to change it up sometimes without having to play players out of position.

If he is out of contract then sign him up and leave him at Ayr for the rest of the season, we need players who come straight into our first 11, two or three at least, our poor December has now made this game on Saturday a 6 pointer, win and we are right in it, lose and its long way back, draw and there’s still hope and the result could affect the boards willingness to get quality in.

Blue it's a no brained to sign this boy. He definitely could turn out to be an asset at a low cost.

I’ve never seen Shankland play so I’m going by his scoring rate and what the other posters say. But the second division in Scotland is a far cry from the Premier league, would he be able to make the step up?

I would request him on loan to buy but give ayr a few players on loan.

Yep, sign him and give Ayr Dallas on loan the rest of the season, win-win all round.

Ayr won't get promoted, stadium doesn't meet requirements. Whoever signs Shankland will have to loan him back to ayr as part of deal or they won't sell, Shankland already aware of this and happy to stay at somerset park rest of season.

FB it's already been decided by SPFL that ayes midden meets criteria to be promoted.
They done away with 6000 seat rule few years back
I want better than shankland, any signing must improve the eleven not the squad.
