So Cahill to Rangers . . Not for me, we have better at Rangers at the moment Do we actually need him? Would you pay 30/ 35 grand a week for a guy is over the hill?

Never knew anything about this until I logged on here the now. If this is true it would be a masterstroke by our management again.
I wanted us to go in for him when he left chelsea.
He would almost certainly be a replacement for goldson I think. So say we get £6m for goldson and Cahill on a free, I’d say he’s an upgrade on goldson and would best ch in Scotland.
Think davie weir guys, we could get another 3 years out Cahill if managed properly. Fantastic signing If it happened.

Doubt we are even in for him but he is a solid CB wouldn't pay the 30k a week tho.

Doubt it Cahill doesn't fit the Rangers profile.

He would be some signing. I remember Roy Hodgson waxing lyrical about how good he is. It's a yes from me!

No thanks.

Me too seeker perhaps on condition we make CL groups.

Even at 35 I think Cahill would be a great signing. He knows how to win and will be hungry for more trophies at this stage if his career. We do need to ship out 1 or 2 CBs if we are genuinely looking to bring anyone in at this position.

Cahill would be some signing, seriously don't understand why folk are so hesitant, the guy is a top class, champions league winning cb, aye he's getting on a bit but he is still younger than davie weir was when he signed for us and davie played for another 5 years, cahill would be head and shoulders above every other defender in the league and would be a good mentor to our younger players like king and mayo, the only way I can see us getting him is if Goodson leaves, don't want that to happen but I don't think cahill would necessarily be a downgrade on goldson.

Where’s did u hear this rumour BIGIKS? I had a right good scan over the net and only found it on 1 place rangersnewsnow from htib.

I have to agree cahill would bring experience to our defence. He has done everything in his career think davie weir or clint hill still great players in their mid to late thirties. Its a yes from me also i don't think he would demand a huge wage if given a 3 year deal.

Cant dish out 3 year deals to 35 year olds. Just doesn't work like that majority of clubs now with players that age will be year deals. Body can slow down rapidly, even in one season then we are left paying a big contract for another 2 years.

12.) 18 Jul 2021
18 Jul 2021 12:47:54
Would rather give goldson the pay rose and keep him on a new improved contract them sell for double end of the season.

13.) 18 Jul 2021
18 Jul 2021 13:07:33
Shane Duffy that's all i'm going to say. Would be a terrible signing. Slow and doesn't know the league.

14.) 18 Jul 2021
18 Jul 2021 13:17:34
Herewego, the guy is 35 and also a cb these guys have more longevity than most other outfield players so i would disagree with you there.

15.) 18 Jul 2021
18 Jul 2021 13:30:33
Shane duffy ever win champs league?

16.) 18 Jul 2021
18 Jul 2021 13:39:30
Give him a 1 year deal with obligation to extend if personal targets are met.

17.) 18 Jul 2021
18 Jul 2021 17:11:41
Jking your wrong, duffy has been a championship player for the majority of his career and has only ever won the delayed Scottish cup, he came up here thinking he would stroll it, cahill has been a premier league player for the majority of his career, has won league titles, fa cups and the champions league and according to anyone that's ever worked with him is one of the most professional, hardworking defenders in British football, cahill is levels above that donkey duffy.

18 Jul 2021 17:16:15
Sparky, hoe many clubs dish out 3 year deals on big wages to 35 year olds?

19.) 18 Jul 2021
18 Jul 2021 17:22:58
A 12 month deal on a free transfer is a no brainer for me. Replaces Goldson if he refuses to sign contact and is sold or if we manage to keep Goldson we loan out or sell Katic and Edmunston to pay Cahills wage.
Who cares what age he is, it’s about what he is capable of as a player in the here and now and for me he’s still a top quality no nonsense CB who is great in both boxes.
Put it this way if it was that mob that were linked with him I’d be gutted.

20.) 18 Jul 2021
18 Jul 2021 17:45:38
Who has said anything about a 3 year deal?
It will likely be a 2 year deal with option of a 3 rd if all parties are happy. I’d jump on it man. He’s class amd would be best defender I. Scotland FACT

21.) 18 Jul 2021
18 Jul 2021 19:12:58
Ok herewego a 3 year deal is not the right thing to do ill give you that but saying a player slows down rapidly at 35 is nonsense look at steven davis last season for example due to the fact he is a top professional who looks after himself cahill is the exact same in terms of his professionalism.

22.) 18 Jul 2021
18 Jul 2021 20:04:55
Give goldson a pay rise and a new 3 year contract. problem solved.

23.) 18 Jul 2021
18 Jul 2021 20:15:36
Nobody has said a word about a 3 year deal. Where’s all this coming from.

24.) 18 Jul 2021

I didn't say it does mate, I said it can. Couple of injuries is all it takes. Davis is a different animal, guy is never injured our superman.

DD totally agree keep Goldson and problem solved.
