Alex Lowry going to hearts on a season long loan deal.

In many ways I can see this is a good thing. He really needs game time. But I'm growing increasingly worried about our euro squad options without these homegrown players. We're going to be down to c c20 players that can realistically play in Europe, and with our injury record that's a bit close to the bone for me.

I think we should be on a position to give this guy 15-20 games for Rangers this season if we're really intent on bringing through our own.

Great move for him. Not bothering too much if he doesn't get much away game time but Hearts get a lot of the ball at Tynecastle and he needs to play in a ball dominant team.

I haven’t been impressed with Lowry at all. Don’t think he’ll ever make the grade with us, genuinely hope I’m wrong but heard he likes the boozer and has a bad attitude. Fair enough boy suffered some family bereavement so wish him all the best. Genuinely thought McCann was way better than him.

Nacho I tend to disagree, he knows how to pass how to shoot how to do all the pretty stuff, imo he needs to learn the dirty side of the game and do the hard yards off the ball (cantwell for example) . When Beale said while speaking about him that he needs to get to the point were his team mates would pick him, I think this is what he was maybe getting at. I think it's a great move for him and as you said they will have a lot of possession at home, this will hopefully give him an opportunity to showcase his talents.

Although Lowry would be on the youngsters list, Jimbo is right in that we have 17 foreigners plus McCrorie, Souttar and Jack which is only 20 players plus the two Wrights have been named but they are just filling spaces . King, Devine and Lowry are the three of the youngsters list who are actually part of the first team squad . Disappointed we have let the boy leave as he is the best youngster we`ve had in years ( despite attempts by people who don`t know him to smear him ), miles better than McCann . Even more disappointed we have done anything to help that scumbag Naismith.

@John27, yeah, but the 22 includes weight (who looks to be leaving, ) and the third choice keeper. So that leaves us 20. Two or three injuries and we're in a position where we have very little flexibility in the team. I really doN t think we should be throwing B team players into European matches - already think last season wouldn't have helped king (being rag dolled in mid week, every week) .

I'm hoping we try and source a few more Scots for the squad, not to mention I think it's good for the club overall.

@John27, appreciate it may be the same as recent years. But I think our squads have looked really thin in Europe, and it hurt us badly in the Europa final (not having any actual strikers fit and available) . I just don't think we should be even considering throwing kids in to a champions league game, so need to be smarter with our 25, so that we've got experienced pros that can do a job when needed (even if they're not world beaters) .

I also think having more Scottish guys around the club can only be a good thing for the team's identity.

A good move for Lowry. It’s selfish to keep him for Euro quotient and not play him. He could turn out to be a star, but until he gets minutes on the pitch, we don’t know.

Storm that's another error from your boy souttar in first game of season as he did last year and we are playing catch up again.

When you sign four forwards that's total goals are still ten less than kyogo scored in season and people are surprised we don't score against Kilmarnock. ?
