The Sun reporting Potter was approached for rangers job and potter rejected us. If true, then there must be some substance to a lot of the posts on here recently with regards to beale being sacked.

Must be true if it was in the sun ?.

If its in the sun it has about a 1% chance of being true and that's me being generous.

If this was true, I think Sky sports would of been all over it, like a cheap suit.

Agree brummie sky sports would have been all over it more than the sun.

It can pretty much be discounted if it has been reported in the SUN.

I believe Chelsea are still paying Potter compensation. If he takes us on maybe he loses that? If he doesn't want us he doesn't want us. Muscat available in December. Still a few other names out there.

I’d be surprised if the club weren’t approaching people and holding talks as it’s only a matter of time IMO. Any more points dropped and he’s gone. possibly gone regardless.

Potter Reid and the other coaches in their regular set up etc are football people and will want to work in the game, the compen he gets whether it's affected by taking a job or not would still be massive if he found work. but maybe they all have hobbies or like shopping with the wives . Chelsea couldn't cover themselves for any and every job he may take, he might fancy buying Solihull Moors fc and be a hometown hero?

I can’t find this online in the Scottish sun and only a dated link in the normal sun. Wonder why they aren’t reporting it on both online platforms considering it’s a Scottish team.

Really don't think we could afford Potter even if he was interested.

Reckon the story is more Beatrix Potter.

Rangers couldn’t attract a manager like Potter. He makes stupid money on gardening leave. Why take a massive payout to go to Ibrox and potentially be unemployed again in less than 12 months? Celtic had a winning season last year, they have more money than ever before, and the best manager they could get last gummed had just been relegated from the EPL - And they were lucky to get him.

Rangers once sacked a manager at this point in a season. Went to get a replacement and was rejected (the same Derek McInnes many on here want appointed as manager now) which was nothing short of incompetence by the board. Rangers had to appoint an interim manager and we got battered from pilar to post until the end of the season.

If the board are going to rip up Beale’s project, before it’s even had a chance to come together, they would need an outstanding candidate ready. Even then, this new manager may have plans to implement a totally different brand of football. He may want his own players, he may not like most of the guys we just signed, and the window shut just a couple of weeks ago. The Rangers fans would need to be willing to write this season off and we’ll try again next year when they will want whoever the new manager is sacked after two weeks because we got a dodgy VAR decision in an Old Firm game and it cost us the points.

I think Beale will be given time. If we sack him then we are a basket case club who will struggle to find a replacement willing to take us on. I know this because I’ve seen it all before. One time, we had to finish the rest of the season with an interim manager called Murty who got battered from pillar to post for a year. If Beale is sacked, and we can’t find a replacement at the moment, maybe Murty will get the gig again ?‍♂️.

People are also suggesting we go after, Knutsen. That guy loves it at Bobo and has never left his home country. He will get plenty of offers and I can’t see why he would consider u in this situation. He would be walking in second place but if he doesn’t win the league he’ll be sacked before the summer, or a few games into next season after a VAR decision goes against him. He’ll view us as a basket case not worth taking on.

We couldn’t even convince McInnes to manage us at one point. Stevie Clark said Rangers were a sectarian club and swerved them as a player. Who would we get to come in here and turn us into instant winners?

Beale is already winning 71.5% of the games he plays. More than any manger in the history of our club. It’s not enough, he needs to beat Celtic and win all the trophies in the first 6 months too. The level of unrealistic expectation has become toxic.

Maybe Potter would like to see his assistant Billy Reid and his other friends and coaches in work, they have been together a long time, and maybe being in football is just as important as money, yes that would be strange these days but not impossible.

"Beale's project? What does that even entail verdant? I don't even think Beale knows? ??
The journalist (?) who broke this story is an English based hack for the English sun, not the one up here.

I imagine if potter wanted another post then he would negotiate with Chelsea for a lump sum. say 3 years pay. Win win for both. However he's not coming to rangers.
And as for Europe. need the cash but we may be outplayed again due to financial disparity. It'll be like Scotland England match. Men against boys. And yes it hurts to say that. God I hope I'm wrong.

Potter DOF? got a good team around him smart guy and him and Billy found some real gems, Billy always has had an eye for a player right back to Accies days.

Gardening leave is misunderstood. If for example potter did accept the rangers job then Chelsea would have to come to an agreement regarding his contract. They only use the term gardening leave so that they can spread the cost of his sacking over several months. He will have a clause in his contract stating how much he will receive if he is sacked in relation to the length of contract. To even assume that he is still employed by Chelsea is ridiculous and any tribunal would agree.

SKY Sports are all over it, they are saying it has been reported in the SUN. He might have been sounded out to see if there was any interest and he likely said no.

Billy Reid his long term friend and assistant would come to Rangers I think, so Potter should not be ruled out .

Not talking while there is a guy in the job is the right thing to do, what the rags might do is speak to Reid and the other 2 coaches Potter had. Will be same answer more than likely "no comment " or "get oot my garden you're annoying the dug "

Verdant Clarke family leans to Celtic but the man himself hates the religion thing in city doubt he would take rangers or Celtic jobs.

Beale has no plan it's just buy as many forwards as can an see what sticks so far nothing has.

Verdant, he might be winning 71.5% of games but to repeat what many are saying, he isn't winning the ones that matter and to win the League we need to beat Celtic, to progress in Europe we need to beat quality teams and at the moment the only trophy in Scotland where we can win it without beating Celtic is the League Cup, (which for me is pretty meaningless) .
I want Beale to be successful but sometimes quality coaches can't make the step up, just as promotion in any Business. It doesn't always work.
As for Rangers being able to attract a top quality coach, never say never. We did it when we secured Advocaat and I believe that we can certainly do it again, even playing in Scotland.
Let's wait and see what happens when our Chairman takes on the role full-time. He certainly isn't doing that for the benefit of his health.
