Bit of advice required. i'm looking to buy a classic car prob a wee MG and worried due to change of ownership I can't call it a MG anymore and might have to remove the badges. Do I throw out all the old paperwork and service history and start fresh. Furthermore due to it being a new car again will I have to pay the full car Tax and not classic car tax. What the heck i'm going to do with the mileage on the odometer, anyone know how to reset these things.

If what you say about tax etc is true it isn't a classic car. Put the reg through the DVLC d/ base and see what they say. If it was a full rebuild they should have rewound mileage.

Its an exciting thing to do but be wary, all the best.

TJBB56, dependant on what's been done, piston boring, head skimming, valve replacement, cylinder renewal and various other mechanical parts, running gear, set up, interior, you could be there for ages trying to work it out bud, MG Owners Club, start there, or buy a new odometer/ speedometer lol. Seriously I'd get in touch with them, they'll keep you right. For some reason I thought you OP was about something completely different, clubs changing names/ tax things, see where I'm going??.
