A lot of posters on here are ready to turn on anyone at the slightest thing, Bornblue, our manager , our captain, any player they don't fancy all get slaughtered now it's our legendary 9 IAR manager who's next Struth? Wallace?

Walter was famous for playing players out of position saying they were "versatile".BS***. THEN he passed all that knowledge to McCoist, who just done the exact same with older players!

Hopefully we can now see a younger team playing exciting attacking football.

I think a lot of us whilst grateful for our 9 in a row (at any cost- one which it transpires we couldn't afford) are still in shock at our financial meltdown. A lot of which was initiated in the "good old days of 9 in a row"

Now here is something to wrestle with- would you have forgone the 9 in a row if it secured the future of the club and prevented the last disastrous, embarrassing and ultimately humiliating 4 years?

Walter worked Murray well through the media slating off the bank and ensuring another £30 million was spent in his second stint as manager.Spending that amount is no problem if you can afford it- we couldn't so Ally's approach learned from his mentor Walter culminated in more financial carnage, more boring football and ultimate failure to get back to the top division in 3 consecutive steps- hence negating the entire brain dead strategy.
He won the worst two part time divisions in Scotland with the oldest 2nd most expensive squad failing at 3 attempts in the Ramsdens and three each in League cups and Scottish Cups- better not to mention our only season in Europe under Ally.
Now the fans who still worship Ally in particular are entitled to their opinion- I just wouldn't like to be the advocate making the case or trying to make the case to an independent jury for Murray, Walter or McCoist to obtain a not guilty verdict.
Not proven would be the best outcome but only if some of the jury were intellectually challenged.
What should have happened is what MUST happen now and that is maximising the Auchenhowie facility to at least show a profit on player transactions otherwise there was no point in building it or keeping it open. The club and the fans will be winners for the first time in years and years if we produce our own young uns who excite the bears and make us proud of the club again.

Sorry chaps - that is me finished now I won't bore you again- the boil has been lanced.

Go do some homework , we were bringing in 15mil a year Champ league money as well as season ticket money etc we were also selling players on so not all the money was going out. SDM tied our money in with MIM , that's where the money went that ultimately led to our downfall. We went down for a bill of 19mil and non payment to HMRC. Check how much came in during Smiths years and how much he spent.

JYF you are missing the point here , we never utilized murray park at any time, walter was all about buying players did not like youngsters passed this trait onto Ally , without the money both of them struggled could not spot young talent and develop it this is why Ally hit the buffers big time.

Damn it - cannot refuse a challenge " go do some homework" "£15 million a year from Champions League"

According to STV Rangers total earnings from the champions league qualifying and group stages was 9,224,000 euros in 2009/2010 in the following season 2010/2011 it was 9,326,000 euros or in other words circa £7.5 / year.
So to help you with your homework 2 x £7.5 = £15million or £15,000,000 for these 2 seasons. I suspect the income was considerably lower in Walter's First stint when he spent £50million on players added to £30million in his second stint.

Also remember if a player costs us £12million he has cost us £12million if we sell for example an Alan Hutton for £11.44 million we actually only earn circa £7.5million as there was player and agent fees to come of the sale price.

Walter spent £13 million in the final season which should have been the 10 in a row season when we had a pre season game at Ibrox (this for the benefit of the Brain of Britain accusing critics of the rangers greats as not true Rangers fans - may I suggest you wind your neck in Sir or go and get pi~~ed in Magaluf)when a Rangers 11 captained by Brian Laudrup playing in the home strip competed against a Rangers team playing in the away white strip captained by Lorenzo.

But the main point is young players don't cost as much when you buy in largely older more experienced players the salary outlay rockets. And you need to earn huge transfer fees to counteract transfer outlays plus big wages and bonuses.

In fairness my homework also uncovered a very long list of impressive players who had nothing but unstinting praise for Walter.

And there I will definitely leave it- goodnight!

No your missing the point Ron ,we were spending OUR money earned through CL and winning leagues, I'm not saying we didn't overspend some seasons but we had a bank that was supporting this. The problems started when MIM started having trouble and SDM started using Rangers money for his other ventures. Not Smiths fault at all.
