Does anyone know how much has been spent so far on players and what the budget is?

Not much and the budget is apparently unlimited.

On transfers only £200k , quite disappointing tbh hoping king is true to his word and not full of bluster!

Amy1scott2, have you thought that maybe warburton isn't spending money? And that king has offered the cash?

It can't b unlimited. Does anyone know the figure? Need to be clear on that surly that isn't asking to much Mr King.

Why should Mr King be clear on the actual budget figure? All that does is alert clubs to how much we are willing to spend on players and then they bump up the price of any player! If Mr King comes out and says "we are willing to spend £3million on players" - a club wanting £500k for a player will suddenly be looking for £1million - think you might find we've been stung like that several times in the past - Tore Andre Flo ring any bells - in fact he's probably a better bell ringer than goal scorer!

EKBear you're right, so you will agree it was s#upid of Mr King to say publicly that the war chest available is "unlimited" and will be "whatever it takes" to win automatic promotion. Surely that puts Warburton in a weak bargaining position, for the exact same reason you outline in your post?

Noddy, King himself stated publicly that the money available to the new manager is "unlimited". An astonishing pile of horsecr#p but that's what he said.

Tbf it was also stated that we would not be signing Messi etc at the same press conference Pauline as we need to be realistic about signings too lol. The way I took 'unlimited' was that it meant there was no set budget (say 5 or£10m) with which to work with but if w+w went to the board chasing a realistic target that required a decent fee they would try to accommodate it if the feeling was it would improve the squad and justify the fee. I'm comfortable with that approach tbh if that is the case, way too much is made of single line statements within general replies which are mainly taken out of context and ran with as fact imo. No actual budget figure for transfers was mentioned as far as I'm aware, just assurances that warburton will get support for the job he's undertaken in replenishing the squad and money would be there if he felt he needed it. I really don't get what the big drama about it is.

Spart7 no big drama, just that DK is full of horsecr#p and his "assurances" are worth hee haw until he actually delivers on them. Remember his "assurances" about the nomad?
