I think Barton has been suspended for 3 weeks because he was speaking publicly and on talksport about the situation, it says on the club website that neither party will make any further statement or comment on this issue, so i'm just wondering if its to see if he'l keep quiet about the situation now.

I think it's a joke he has been suspended for 3 weeks. Either sack are play him don't drag it out for another 3 weeks. I still think it's harsh there was no fisty cuffs and if he did say last year we were in rubbish league playing rubbish teams well he's not wrong.

We can't afford to sack him and pay him off unfortunately.

4 weeks out altogether, 4 weeks behind on his fitness. Barton is already behind regarding his fitness levels. Why is he suspended and not asked to train with the reserve team. I think we may of seen the last of Barton.

Thank god you don't own a company hooly you can't just sack some for abuse there are processes hence the suspension.

The suspension is just about the normal for any company in total 4 weeks, everything has to be above board and fair on both sides, there will almost definately be contact and i'd be extremely suprised if jb talks about it unless he wants to seal his own fate publicly, its actually a really hard process to sack somebody or to get to the bottom of what happened and what warning/ dismaissal it deserves.

here is my take on it for what its worth. Its clear to me players in the past have done much much worse on this occasion for eg players have slept with other players wives etc, been drunk, done drugs or even worse, yet this man says something out of turn and is suspended for 3 weeks.

This is practically unheard of in football and for me your club is praying that Barton steps out of line while suspended then he has no leg to stand on and u can get him on gross misconduct therefore sack him and u don't have to pay him.
Otherwise if u want rid u will have to pay his contract and u definitely don't want that.

Your are absolutely right mate this isn't the 70s anymore, as you say there are procedures in place when disciplining people. It will be interesting to see if the club are going through this route which could prove costly.

I trust the manager and his team Barton has done nothing Abe he came genre but shout his mouth off get rid of him and bring in somebody else might even get two players for his wages.

What's the chances of him staying tight lipped for 3 weeks when he has a book coming out lol I'd say no chance then he has broken another promise and rules.

The last thing we need is an industrial tribunal for unfair dismissal and all the goings on coming out in the media, (which they would just love) .

I really don't think that we look too clever in this episode. Two players apparently have a go at one another, the Manager gets involved and ends up in the argument. They are grown men, why not let them battle it out. Barton was clearly unhappy with the way the team was playing, (himself included) . It would appear that Halliday couldn't take the criticism and either all hell broke loose or it was handbags at 10 paces.

Sorry but this sort of thing just wouldn't have happened when Souness or Smith was manager and when we had a proper captain at the club!
