Question Bears, I did mention on another post but who actually thinks Warbs will play 4-3-3 against the dark side? I really do think Warbs is a intelligent Manager, I think we need to give him time and the squad will perform better as season progresses. Its obvious that Warbs strongly believes in this formation BUT imo it must be changed against certain teams/ venues. I just feel that if we go into the tic game 4-3-3 after being on the receiving end of a 5-1 defeat the abuse will be coming from all angles, I personally think 3 CB's with wing backs alternating is a start, BUT does any Bear out there actually think we will be go to Hampden with the possibility of getting the first piece of silverware of the season and Warbs plays 4-3-3!

Making a back 3 work takes ages to perfect and work on the training park, i'd rather play the way we do or just stick to a 4231 when defending but the habit of the wingers is that they don't need to defend. Games are won and lost in the midfield in OF games and on second balls anyways, changing to 5 at the back would just invite pressure and our players don't cope very well on the back foot of games.

Need to start fast, high intensity, win the second ball and overun their midfield, keep pace on the wings to move in behind when they come forward as well. Either play waghorn through the middle or don't play him at all becuase McKay is stuck to the left when Waghorn is on the right.

I often wonder if warbs would consider changing from 4-3-3 for certain games . I mean surely if he had got into Europe this season he wouldn't have played 4-3-3 against the better teams away from home for instance .

He plays 4-3-3 regardless of who we are playing he's not for changing the formation under any circumstance.

4-4-2 IS THE WAY FORWARD I THINK.
Our best players are our midfielders and narrowing them down to just three means u have couple of your best sitting doing nothing whilst selik take control of the midfield by playing 5 in the middle of the park which means we don't have any options to play forward .
but if we are to play 4-3-3 niko can't be anywhere near thastarting line up as we need pace and workhorses in there to make up for the lack of numbers.

Stick to the same formation and tactics but use different personnel and we should give them a decent game. No McKay or Miller starting IMO. I can't see us winning it unless they don't show up but I don't think it'll be another gubbing. Who knows tho, it's an OF on neutral ground - anything can happen.

Its all about midfield battle and 433 is ideal as long as the mid 3 are proper midfielders, ie not playing forrester or niko as one of these 3 it needs to b 3 who don't mind a scrap! Would like halliday rossiter and crooks in there but unfortunately think its too soon to pitch crooks into OF having not played first team, like windass and forester to be used as the two link players supporting garner, both are very busy and don't mind a scrap either.

Playing with width is all well and good if you have enough players in the box which we don't half the time i reckon 4.4.2 is the way to go.

I agree wholeheartedly with Nic-861 when he states its very important that we start with the correct 3 in midfield against celtic, most often than not these games are one by the midfield that is on top during the game, this is where the debate starts regarding which 3 start in our midfield, i agree with alex rae's statement in the daily record this morning, for me 2 of our 3 that imo must start in our midfield against them in the semi has to be holt and halliday, the big headache for me is who is the 3rd member to play beside them, i would personally play rossiter if he's fit beside holt and halliday as our midfield 3!

4-4-2, 4-1-3-2, Either one of these formations for me is a MUST! We definetly need the system against celtic. We will lose the battle in midfeild playing 4-3-3 and Brenda knows this, Leicester played most games 4-4-2 and it worked for them. I think he's going to stick with it tho, if so the players fielded need to take the game to them, I think confidence is vital, the players need to believe that they can nail this formation. On another note I really hope Warbs has addressed the fact that our shots on target ratio is absolutely disgraceful and the lads need to start having a dig once they've worked the ball into decent areas. The lads do have the skill and ability to get their shots on target from around the 18yd box but they don't seem to believe in themselves. So in short if Warbs is going to go 4-3-3 then he must know that the lads are full of confidence and believe in their ability a huge factor in this system. Bold and Ballsy decision if he does but also asking a lot of the players, If at half time it's not coming off then he must change it, could be asking too much of the players up against.

Bluedie, I wouldn't play windass as one of the 3 midfielders mate, I'd play windass as one of our 3 forwards if anywhere!

Respect your opinion mate but my reasoning was his powerful running against that mob the last time just a pity he had 2 cart horses in beside him. if he could play up top that wid actually b better as rossiter could be our sitter and let holt and halliday do their stuff alongside him.
