Celtic fans on this page will be quaking in their boots with the news Warburton wants to give new contracts to Hill and Miller. They might be turning 39 and 38 this year but he says they're first on the training pitch and last off and age is no barrier.

I myself don't see these contract extensions as an example of our club's lofty ambitions though and the fact that they're 2 of our best players says more about how poor our squad is than how good they are.

totaly agree kfraser. hill is our best defender but we should be looking for younger better than clint. warbs always said he likes hungry young players, time he got some

Building for the future by utilising experienced pro's to help the younger players develop.

When the old gits still play as well as Miller and Hill I can't really see how there can be a negative slant.

first post on slagging off the team, if you don't have anything productive to say why bother, where are the lofty ambitions when we don't have any money to spend and won't have for quite some time, hill and miller are two good professionals who deserve their extra time because we do need them

Not necessarily, many older players can be the stars in teams even better ones than ours.

I would think the natural progression for both players is to become part of our coaching staff when they hang up there boots - to be fair to kenny he loves a goal against celtic and hill is an excellent communicator/ organiser of the back line just like sir davie weir he could play until he's 40

It's quite simple. If they are 2 of the best performers then give them another year. No brained really!

I must admit I thought Hill was likely past it and a rotten signing.

Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Like others I reckon he's our best defender and deserves a new contract.

Saying that I was spot on about Barton and Senderos. Stupid signings.

Sadly as things stand right now they are, whether we like it or not, two of our best players.

We brought in players to secure us promotion to the Premier League but the majority of these players are simply not good enough to win us the league. Yes we were unlucky with injuries to potential key players and the Barton scenario did not work. (For me this was a similar issue to Ferguson and LeGuen, Barton, like Ferguson was a winner, he clearly did not like the drubbing we got from Celtic. Warburton sided with Halliday and I guess we will never know the full story) .

We have subsequently failed to move up to the next level and we are probably half a team short of being serious challengers for this league.

We can go all the way back to the appointment of McCoist which was in reality a total and utter disaster. We do not have one young player over the age of 16 that was signed during his time in charge. He got rid of youngsters and brought in the biggest bunch of excuses for football players ever signed by Rangers with perhaps, Wallace the only decent quality signing!

Personally I believe that King is all talk and little action. He is well behind the three bears in his investment in the club and I doubt that we will ever see real investment from him and once we are rid of Ashley I suspect that we will see new investors with significantly more ambition and hopefully none of the 'favouritism' in some players that has blighted the club!

In the interim we need to hope that Warburton continues to bring in quality loanees and that McParland proves his worth by bringing in some quality players. Age means nothing, it is quality that matters and that is what we need for next season!

Ffs. If that's rangers ambitions for next season, then seven will be easy.

I could understand if they were being given extensions as part of their applications for coaching badges, but to promote them as part of the back bone of rangers 2017/ 18 is a great joke.

If you keep this up, miller will be able to use his bus pass to get free travel to matches and training sessions.

Ibra 35
Totti 39
Klose 37
Pirlo 36
Luca Toni 38
Drogba 37
Di Natale 38

The list goes on. Age has nothing to do with deserving a contract. At this moment in time both the players you have mentioned are playing good football. Hill is arguably our best defender! I think Weir was 38/ 39 with us! They are essential behind the scenes also no doubt.

another year for each for me is not a problem. I hope next year we do move on and they have to play less however.

Some of the negative comments on this site are so over the top I sometimes wonder if there Rangers fans. Remember where were this time two years ago

Have just been informed rangers to make three keynote signings.

John greig 74.
Derek parlane 64.
Derek Johnstone 63.

All players who even at their age, would do a better job than the current rangers misfits.
