Totally agree Scott87. Have to broaden our horizons a great deal.

Frank McParland is one guy, he is the head of a scouting team with no scouts. he is doing so well considering his hands are tied.

I would guess it is all about pricing mate. We can get young affordable talent from the UK leagues because we can sign them on cheap pre-contracts with limited resources used and a nominal fee. The same rule that enabled us to pick up the likes of Rossiter and Dodoo does not apply for all the european leagues i think. Also - If we aren't scouting abroad, how did we sign Sergei Atakayi? Most of his contacts are in the UK, that much is obvious. But not all of them

Exactly spoc, he's not able to scout Europe on his own. Especially with the fact we probably can't afford to ship off all over the world to search for players.

Frank McParland is one guy, we appreciate that but the reason he was given the job was due to his extensive contacts throughout the footballing fraternity.
We can't expect champagne service for lemonade money but we should be getting better value considering the wages we are paying. If he did not have one hand tied behind his back then maybe he would supply us with a better product. There are many problems at Ibrox that need addressed in both the long and short term so let's hope we see genuine progress on all fronts in the near future.

Spoc he must have european connections considering he was at liverpool aswel am sure we have more than one scout aswel and ex players keeping rangers informed even if it was players using us as a stepping stone to england and that's the gems we need buy on cheap and sell for a profit instead of players who have been down in englands low leagues for a few years and haven't been noticed still

I think Teddy has it spot on. I hope MW reads his own statements from last year and sticks to young talent that can add value.

Teddy of the south Sergei atakayi was on trial at fulham and Leicester before he signed for rangers where am sure mcparland got wind of him not doubting he's got some good talent in just think we need a bigger option for players

warburton says one of the reasons to goes for british players more is because plays from europe can take longer to settle in and he needs players to hit the ground running, which he thinks british players do which i disagree with

At Liverpool McPArland could shop in quality Markets, at Rangers under absentee Landlord, King, he can't even afford to shop at Aldi or even Pound land. In fact I doubt he could even afford the 'barres' or 'Paddy's Market'.

He doesn't have a hand tied, he has both. How do we know he isn't providing good talent and Warbs' domestic bias - mentioned above - led to them not being signed. Literally our scouting network is Frank McParland and only Frank McParland.

I'm going to throw it out there but why not try and get John Park in to work along side McParland. He is out of work and was the man who uncovered Van Djik and Wanyamma for them.

But how do know that we aren't doing that, we will be searching all over Europe and further, but we don't always here about this, as we only here about players that sign, not the players we tried to sign

Benny, I know Park of old and he is merely a self-serving mercenary who got lucky. He made a career out of employing other scouts and taking the credit for their discoveries, fact. He blagged his way into the senior game after being match secretary of an amateur team and is an arrogant little turd.

I think we have to bear in mind that they joined the club with a 5 years plan. Summer 2016 he signed 4 or 5 17-19yr olds who went straight in to the U20's side. they bought Windass and Crooks as squad plauyers (unfortunate that both got injured after signing the pre-contrat, but that happens) Rossiter was the big one and again - Bad luck for us that he got injured. Dodoo again was brought in for more 1st team action at a low price. I see no flaw in their recruitment policy in youth at all. How many kids are you expecting them to bring in?

they are certainly other countries we could be scouting for players and who offer better value than current first team players even players closer to home could improve our team but our management team seem intent on bringing english based players to the club this just shows the lack of knowledge
warburton weir have and macpharland as a bargain basment scout who looks for free agents and loans and seems to only scout players from england our scouting system needs a big overhaul still and more scouts added
