Why not drop Halliday and try Wilson as a CDM?

He has a decent touch and pass for a defender, his pace would be less of an issue in that role too. I know there are a few who don't rate Wilson and I would agree he has been better, but I could see him doing a better job than Halliday. Having a defensive minded player in that role would also help out better with the actual defence, he is far more composed than Halliday too.

Alternatively - play a back 5 or 3 depending on how you look at it - then you don't have this constant worry of the CDM leaving his position with flying wing backs leaving 2 x CB exposed.

Not mobile enough halliday may not be at his best at the moment but he gets about the pitch.

Players have played much much worse than Andy Halliday and get a much easier ride amongst our support.

People say he gets away with a poor performance because he's one of us.

Honestly starting to think it's working against him.

Tavernier has been shocking at times this season, gets away with it because of a decent showing in Scotland's second tier.

Garner has scored no where near enough for his price tag and doesn't always pull his weight. Yet he gets treated as a demiGod because he wins a couple of headers.

MOH gets better every game he doesn't play yet, every game he's played, he adds very little, apart from running at defenders with speed.

It's all about the type of tactics you utilise, isn't it? Don't play him as a 'midfielder' but use him in the same way Bayern and Germany used Beckenbauer, as a sweeper playing in front of the defence identifying the danger, marshalling from the front, picking out passes. Not saying Wilson's in that league, but it's possible he could do a job there. It would mean playing something like 4-1-3-2 or even 4-1-4-1 so we'll never know.
