"Malky Mackay has revealed he is advising Billy Gilmour's family on the youngster's future - and suggested it'll be better if he remains in Glasgow. "

Maybe, just maybe, we can hold onto the boy and hopefully see him fulfill his potential at Ibrox.

All the ex-pro seem to be saying he should stay and develop. Hopefully the boy is listening.

Its a no brainer for me. If he stays he'll get to play against men very soon rather than being stuck in an academy playing with boys his own age for who knows how long.

Surely we should try and match Chelseas deal! I think Gilmour and his family would want to stay at Ibrox buy if we are offering say 3k a week compared to poss 10k then imo an offer of 7k could sway his decision to stay THIS tho depends on coaches at Ibrox and Pedro as to their thoughts on if the boy WILL kick on?

HINDSIGHT! Will Billy become a top talent? I think that if he stays and in 3-4yrs is even valued at 1m then we will not have lost out financially. He must be informed that by staying he will move up to first team and get his chance this with a financial package that resembles Down South would be ideal for everyone.

If he goes down South the chance of him disappearing and continually playing Academy football could seriously affect his development. Fingers crossed Bears but unfortunately money will be a huge factor in his and his family's decision so if we can show that we really want him to stay a deal close to Chelseas I think would prove to him and his family he is really wanted and first team football a serious possibility.

He is still very young AND physically don't think he's the biggest but to lose him and all that goes with it is a risk BUT King MUST listen to Coaches and take the gamble yeah? What do u think Bears?

Andy1872. 7k a week over 4 years is 1.456m. So if he's worth 1m we will have lost out by almost 500k. I hope he stays but I hope we don't pay over the odds for a possibilty he fulfills his potential. 10k is pocket change to the likes of Chelsea. 2-3k a week for would prob be more realistic. and that is still a fortune for an untested 16 year old.

I think we should try our best to keep him as he'll almost certainly be worth a lot more than £500k in a couple of years. But trying to compete financially with the wages offer is not the way to go. He'd be picking up bigger wages than half our squad while he's still years away from being ready to play in the first team, that would be a dressing room nightmare!

we should offer quicker route into first team not offer more money for a lad.
