So no one else noticed that their wing backs had ltd success. For all their possession ltd success thro the middle. The goals were scored from long balls only. Seems obvious. Decent cb decent hustle and decent closing down broon from cf's which was the job PC had given them.

Tbh, they didn't need wing backs! One thing that did worry me was the zonal defence at corners. 6 men along the 6 yard line no one on the posts, and allowing them to have a 10 yard run at any high ball. Was amazed they didn't really threaten. Think Brenda might have noticed that unfortunately.

Will never understand why any team does zonal marking. It should be old fashioned Man for man so every player knows who they are marking and if you concede then it's clear who was at fault. Don't know why some coaches try to over complicate something so simple

{Ed001's Note - if you understood zonal marking, then you would also be able to pick out the man at fault. Just because you don't understand something, does not mean it is the problem. If players are switching off, then it does not matter what system you use, you will concede chances. I am pig sick of people moaning about zonal marking when not one of them understands how it works and think that the morons on Sly are correct when they blather on about a player being ignored because he has left the zone and all the other nonsense crap they send out to the people watching. There has never been a team that ever in the history of the game did not use some form of zonal marking as part of their set piece defending. They may have used varying degrees of man to man as well, but they always have some zonal within it.}

I just don't like the fact 6ft 2 guys are getting a free run from the edge of the box like there 2 CBS had on Sunday and should have done better with.

Ed

How can you say there has never been a team in the world that hasn't used zonal marking? Are you up to speed with tactics with teams in Honduras and El Salvador use? How many games have you been to Angola and Zambia to see how teams in these countries set up?

{Ed001's Note - because a man marking system still uses zonal within it. Men on the posts are zonal marking. Usually there is a man stationed ahead of the near post, who is zonal marking. I can say it because I know it is true. No team has ever set up with all of their players man marking an opponent and had no spare man zonal marking.}

I agree to an extent Ed but none of our players were marking, they were all standing in a line along the 6 yarder. Yes, technically every team does do a form of zonal I. E;the posts, the edge of the 6yd at the side which the corner is taking but none of our players actually had a man

Wearerangers, no one else noticed maybe because we never played with wingbacks we played with full backs.
2 Goals long balls?
Why was it not a great long pass it was the first of the game and took your defense out.
Ask any manager and they will tell u that they hate losing a goal like that because its schoolboy defending, 1 pass and we are in, bring it down lay it off, goal not a defender even got near to challenge.
2nd goal was a break away no long ball, 3 passes and we are in, schoolboy defending from Tav if he stays on his feet he can force LG away from goal, but no go to ground and take him out.
None of that is good defending.
