I honestly can't wait til close season when the players start packing their bags and the mystery and excitement kicks in about whos coming to this glorious club, god knows we all need a lift and there HAS to be some decent calibre of player coming now, i can't help but think that this season was a bit of an experiment to see how we got on and to build a bit of money up, i bloody hope so anyway, this has been a mentaly and emotionally trying season and of king can't open his eyes and see what needs done then we are seriously buggered! The boats still out on pedro, the tactics against them have been so wrong, full credit to murty because in my eyes he had it spot on, maybe we let go someone who could really excel in management? Thoughts bears

Murty had two experienced full backs in Hodson and Wallace. Pedro did not have that available to him (i'm certain we would have played Wallace and Beerman on one side and Hodson and Tav on the other)

Murty also had two years in and around the squad, Pedro has had 2 months.

But agree with you on the close season will be exciting, can wait to get some players in that can play in the system the manager wants

Daz 100% spot on. The biggest problem in the coming months will be getting rid of warburtons duds who have disgraced the jersey on far too many occasions. Not sure there will much interest in any of them. 90 per cent of current first team squad fall into this category. Pedro got his game plan, team selection and tactics totally wrong in last 2 games and the cracks are appearing already but he must be given time to bring in his own players. Only then can he be judged fairly. The clock is ticking already

It wasnt too obvious to me during the game with all the rage and all but watching the highlights and they take the in depth look at the system etc my god we were so terribly poor, the narrowness and lack of any real effort, so much went wrong and either the players just didn't listen to their instructions or pedro didn't really have a clue, i'm pretty sure that even if wallace was playing nothing would have been different, he would be bombing up there and leaving the space too, we 100% should have went with a 5 midfield but hey, i'm sure he'll "learn" from his mistakes lol

I know we had half a team injured but surely still he has to set up better than that. Bates can play as a RB so what was the matter with him there and Tav up 1.and 3 strikers? wots that all abt? i know Mckays not everyones cup of tea but at least he's naturally a wide player instead we've got Waggy out wide who couldn't outrun me

spot on lads - taking our financial position into consideration Pedro and the boards biggest challenge will be to remove 6+ of the current squad bringing in any fees we can and freeing up wages

we need about 8-10 players with a new spine top priority; 2 strong cntr halves a new full back and 3 strong dominant cntr mids to allow us to compete and cple new cntr fwds to stick the ball kn the pokey - waggy garner MoH can go

personally i'd keep tav wilson holt dodoo and miller and hope rossiter and harry can get fit pre season - the rest can go incl makay - bullied too often no fight in him and end product awful. hardie may also get a chance but the rest .

unfort how do we get rid of players on long term
contracts who don't wanna leave?

Looking at next season, I thInk we need to change formation.
Should go down the same route as Chelsea.
3 centre halfs
2 wing backs
2 central midfielders (style of players to change depending on opposition)
2 wingers/ inside forwards
1 centre forward.

Should make the team more compact, harder to break down.
Will need to recruit the right players for it to work, but you only have to look at Chelsea and now Spurs and Arsenal adopting this tactic and how good it can be.

Murty, to me did an excellent job when he was caretaker manager and tactically astute but at the moment as you say the boats still out on Pedro.
He will be judged when he brings his own players in but he needs to get his team formations right.
If you don't have the quality you can't go toe to toe with opposing teams.

Steviec hits the nail on the head! How does caixinha get rid of these players, when they are still on 2/ 3 year contracts? This is the big problem i see happening, in the close season guys! These duds could sit tight, especially with the decent wages they are on!

We have two problems for next season. One is getting rid of the deadwood, the other is having the necessary funding for the players we need and the rumoured £3m is no where near enough!

We will make some money offloading Waghorn, McKay and strange though it might seem, Kiernan. We are also likely to be able to get some funds for Hodson and who knows, we might actually be able to get some money back on our centre forward whose name escapes me right now!

That might add up to about another £3m if we are lucky!

We will still have guys like Halliday on our books, costing us money and disrupting the dressing room!

New investment is needed and pretty damn quick since we will need three or four new players in before the first round of the Europa Cup or we will go out to some Amateur Team!
