I know McCoist did his best and what he believed right and it's annoying to hear these posts saying he didn't give youth a chance, we should have developed our own. McCoist did say you can't win promotion with youngsters or words to that effect and he's right when you see the kickings that went on in the lower divisions. He gave Lewis McLeod his chance, not so much Barry McKay, and a few others. Apart from those two, how many have gone on to prove themselves as quality Rangers' calibre? Not one. Ally gave his heart and soul to the club. Cut him some slack.

Totally agree McCoist was a true Rangers man through and through served our club so well throughout the years and the grief the guy got when he became manger with what was going on at the club was unreal
He never got a real chance and all he wanted was to be manager of the club he loved and served most of his playing days
It was not his fault what went wrong with the club not one little bit
And he deserves more credit than he gets Especially being his first gig and it was not his fault he through himself in at a bad time like I say he just wanted to manage the club he loved and no matter the circumstance ally would have thrown himself down for the job.

Tell me your both joking? He was an awful manager and didn’t have a clue. Look at the budget he had compared to the rest of the clubs in the lower leagues and the football was atrocious. He wasted money on so many duds and endorsed both Whyte and Green.

We suffered some of the most embarrassing defeats in the clubs history under him and he was that inept he couldn’t even win the challenge cup. He didn’t give youth any chance and instead but woeful players like Kyle, Black, Cribari, Faure and that woeful Greek full back. 2-0 up with 12 mins to play against the mighty Alloa and still couldn’t win. Good club player but shocking Manager

McCoist played Mckay, Hutton, Perry, Crawford, Kal Naismith, Little, Hemmings, Mcleaod so i don't know were people get this myth that he didn't give youth a chance. bottom line is that the majority of these boys just weren’t good enuf

How many games did some of those players you mention actually play? You can’t say he played youth players when some of these players hardly played. How many games did Hemmings play? He wasn’t given a chance and did prove himself in the top league after leaving Rangers

The youth were not good enough, why is that so hard to understand.

Even allowing for the “everyone’s entitled to their opinion” I cannot believe the stick McCoist gets on here. 355 goals for Rangers, Assistant Manager and the Manager during the most turbulent time in the club’s history. Oh - and he had the sheer audacity to take money from the club that he was contractually entitled to after he was sacked. Please Ally, hurry up and write that book and give us your version.
