Sorry lads but I don’t see the big fuse over Bates. Think most would agree we need better class of defenders at ibrox for next season.

100% agree JC, we need far better to compete at European level moving forward. He’d have been ok as a back up but no more!

JC. I suspect some of the fuss is that what has happened is the complete opposite of who our strategy is supposed to be - bring in young players, develop them and sell them on at a handsome profit. We have brought in a young player, not really developed him and now he’s off for nowt, or a compensatory fee at best.

Whilst his wage demands may or may not have been excessive, he may or may not have played regularly next season, we have allowed Wilson and Bates go recently and that’s bound to make some people uneasy.

Totally agree JC. For the standard we need to be at, he would be nothing more than a squad player. All the best to the lad though, gave his all when playing and actually refreshing to see a young Scottish player step out his comfort zone and go into the Continent.
