The board can't win with some of you guys. You asked for a big name, you asked for a leader, and that's what we've got. He's got to have experience! Most of the other realistic candidates haven't set foot in a big club let alone know the standards required, while Gerrard has been with one since childhood and almost singlehandedly led them to European Cup glory. He also captained his country and played at World Cups. If that's not experience what is? There isn't a young player alive that wouldn't want to play for him and he would be a hero to most. Of course it's a gamble but it's also bold and progressive, and he knows our opposition as well as anyone. There are lots of positives if you decide to look for them.

Keep Believing!

Just because he was a great player doesn’t mean he will be a good manager. I just think some fans believe it is a bit of a gamble and maybe think we need an experienced manager.

Great players don’t akways go on to be good managers. Our greatest player John Greig, didn’t have a great record as manager.

That's a very good perspective Marv, and for what it's worth, I agree. Not sure we can afford the tried and tested, ticks all the boxes manager, but this appointment (if it happens) ticks a lot of other ones which you have mentioned.
Time will tell as they say, but one thing is certain, if he does take the job, there will be some amount of interest across the footballing world, which can only be a positive for us, no?

Well said Big Marv. Gerrard is no fool and brings a world of experience. He also knows Brenda inside out.

If we pull it off he has my 100% backing.

I can picture it now. 1st old firm game at parkhead next season, Celtic fans start singing you'll never walk alone and he joins in. In all seriousness though, experienced, inexperienced, I don't care, as long as they get results.

I think Stevie gerrard would be a great appointment we need a man with a huge presence and that's what he has he's been there done it in football and i'm not worried about his lack of management experience who did guardiola manage before barcelona?
