I have just registered to this as I can't believe some of the dross I read on here Andy had to chip in.

Anyone who thinks we should be buying players from any Scottish team is off their head. McKenna and Shinnie are not good enough to play for Rangers. They are not good enough to play for Scotland either.

We have to aim higher than that standard of player. come on boys seriously!

McKenna is a million times better than any centre half at Rangers.

I agree Hollow but that's not saying very much

Hollow mate, that doesn't mean that we should sign them. They are not good enough, end of!

Well I’m happy to come back on here at the end of the season and take some abuse but I’m telling you now, we’ll sign worse than both McKenna and Souter

I hope goldson is a success but he's a bit of a risk, if he's so sh*t hot why are Brighton willing to sell? McKenna and souttar are young players with bags of potential. Just the type of players we should be looking at. To suggest they're not good enough for rangers but a player who can't get a game for Brighton is. Seems mad to me

We should never be signing Scottish players? By this logic you'll be congratulating Ally McCoist for ignoring Andy Robertson.

Aye, very good.

McKenna is better than Alves then is he? Someone who can't get in the Scotland team is better than a defender who gets in the Portuguese team seriously 🤔 If Alves was Scottish he would be in the first team every game McKenna wouldn't even get in the Portuguese under 19s team. I agree I would not sign any players from Scottish clubs none of them are good enough.

To say we shouldn't sign any player playing in Scotland is just nuts. If that was always the philosophy we would missed out on some quality players. Granted there aren't many world beaters but some have decent quality and bags of potential. I would like to see maybe soutar or McKenna or mcginn all would develop and increase in value

Deanobear absolutely, I’d have Mckenna over Alves everyday of the week, at least the McKenna appears to have a heart unlike Alves who picks and chooses which games he plays. As for ‘can’t gett in the Scotland team’ he was the Scotland captain last week?!

hollow 55,your in dreamland just because there scottish mckenna, souter, with bags of potential we should sign them we need experianced centre backs NOW. there not good enough we need to aim to a higher standard than them, get our defence sorted this year and were in with a chance of 55

Nothing to do with Nationality, simply better players, win more headers and more tackles and are better suited to the demands of the Scottish league, something which Alves (and all 34+ aged players) aren’t suited to. He’s been a complete waste of a salary!

hollow 55,alves was a great player in his time, only at rangers topping up his pension. how much do you think mckenna would cost 3 million, souter 2 million, heres bosmans better HUTH COLLINS, if skirtel was coming at 1.8 get him, and wages could be agreed. shawcross i would take, silly comment they win headers and tackles. what about defenders who can play also

londonjock - So you want an aged experienced squad. Everybody compares these players to 'Davie Weir' Its a total different game to when he was here and look at the players in recent history that were experienced and would walk the league up here. Senderos, Alvez and a lesser extent Clint Hill. I would much rather a young guy who has potential to play alongside Goldston. I see an old timer being more risk than a proven youngster in the SPL.
Our club will never progress if we are constantly just filling a gap in our team with some 'has been'.

Londonjock we’d get both for 4m and both would play 35 games each a good coach will develop them further into very good players with potential sell on, Huth and Collins are past in and would top up there pensions just like Alves. Both would be lucky to play 15 games each. By signing McKenna and Souter we’re weaking two teams in Scotland one of which has finished above us for the last 2 seasons.

its called close the gap mr dado very quickly as we don't have time to develope younger players,33 these guys still in there prime, your telling me goulsdon and collins is not a good pairing, senderos was a dud of a defender in england, we could have got another season out of hill. even krippe i'd pair collins or goulsdon with. so every player who has good season in scotland we sign?
