I can't seem to remember Flanagan play for Liverpool but I'm going to guess he's maybe better than tav defensively so saying that does anyone else think maybe SG is thinking he can relate tav and flan depending on who we are playing?

With tav maybe being the better attacking option and Flanagan being the better defensive option.

flanagan has over 50 games for liverpool was out for long spells with injury or else he would of played a lot more a tough tackler and good in the air i'm sure he also has an england cap

The lad ticks every box in assets you would want in a full back. Won’t be many who face him will get change out of him. He loves a tackle.

I like a settled defensive line, be it a back 3 or back 4. Its a no to rotating the back line for me.

Don't let's get carried away here. This lad was close to being an England first pick but has played about a dozen games in the past two years due to injury problems. He also comes with the baggage we all know about and which will surely still be affecting his mindset. I think for the first half of the season he'll be used as cover for Tavernier and John until he settles and then we'll see a lot more of him if he can stay injury free. Good luck to the boy, but don't expect too much too soon.
