I said on here when we signed Flanagan that he would play left back and was shot down. He is equally as good on the left and is about 4/ 5 levels above John. Flanagan will prove to be one of our best signings and probably best full back in the league. Tavernier was our top performer last season and keeps right back for that reason. Flanagan defends first and will rarely be caught out of position. Relax guys and enjoy the season. It's going to be a cracker!

4/ 5 is a little harsh. We lacked left footed players on Thursday.

Don't mind Flanagan at left back as long as we have a natural left footer in front of him. If not then we will have no width in the left hand side and most importantly no crosses into the box. Murphy and Flanagan won't work as a partnership so I would give John a shot at playing more advanced.

totally agree if it wasnt for his nonsence liverpool would have gave flannigan a new contract, liverpools loss is our gain the type of player you want in a blue jersey great signing

I noticed this both flanagan and murphy are both right footed.

I would actually play Flannagan on the right side of a back 3 on Tuesday with John and Tavs as wing backs.
