After seeing Jack tonight believe he is captain in the making. On flip side we are playing too defensive for my liking. No quick movement forward midfield to forward.

I think we're lacking just a little flair in midfield to help link midfield and forwards but it's not such a massive issue playing high pressing like we do.

I'm really happy with how things are going though, this is the most positive I've been about us in years.

I agree completely. A strong no nonsense centre forward and a creative midfielder would be perfect. Or, push Tavernier into midfield, Flannigan to right back and a player with the skills of Ray Wilkins to dominate midfield.

Ok you do realise that we were playing defensive last night because that’s the way Gerrard TOLD them to play and set them up to play. He literally said that in his post match interview. He said ‘people need to realise we will play one way at ibrox and another way away from home’. And even more so in Europe. Last night wasn’t about creative attacking silly football, it was about going away to a very good team on the back of a terrific home result and using excellent game management to get us through to the next round by playing a defensive stuffy type of game and not giving anything away.
Yes we do still need another cf, cb and maybe also a midfielder but no matter who we bring in, for away games in Europe when we have a lead to defend that will always be the way we play.
Them lot across the city like to play attacking expansive football away from home in Europe because deluded Brendan thinks his team can do so and take on anyone, well we’ve seen how that’s turned out plenty of times. So what would you rather, that we play defensive and get through ties or play attacking and get knocked out. (If you’re not sure you might want a word with a certain Sir Walter, he seemed to figure out how best to play in Europe the second time round with us)

Buddy Blue

We still have Barisic who can play on the left either at the back or midfield.
We do need a centre forward and centre back.
Mark Allen and SG will have a list of potential signings and hope we get Lafferty.

Millerbrandwilson I'm astonished at your post surely the result was the most important thing last night we executed a game plan perfectly and got the result we needed to get through. if we had gone gung ho and went out SG would have been accused of naivety and we should have e protected what we had etc etc IMO we are ahead of where I realistically expected as I said your post astonished me.

Disagree we defended a lead with a well thought out plan minus 4-5 key players and youngsters on the bench. If we open up and have a pop chances are we are out this morning.

I didn't make the post regarding other nights game which could not be faulted. But play in general. Rangers are winning, great, but their not playing in flowing style yet. More defensive than anything. I'll give SG benefit and say it's young team gelling.

We were playing defensively to make sure we went through and made five changes to the squad. I wouldn't worry about attacking flair just yet. Let the players gel properly before yous let a second leg 0-0 draw worry you. We've made it to the play off against probably the team we would all pick as our opponents. Happy days are here again. Onto Killie and see how we handle them this season because they were a good outfit last season.
