I’m a bit perplexed by the reaction on here. I thought there were a lot of positives there although again we failed create any concrete goal scoring opportunities. I thought Jack and McCrorie were excellent and shown that they should hopefully be preferred to Coulibaly and Ejaria if indeed he remains at the club.

One thing I agree with tho and if I was the manager I’d have him against the wall by now is Tavernier’s crossing. How many times can he continually hit that first man from dead balls and open play? It’s like he’s trying to do it. I’m a centre half and there’s nothing annoys me more than trotting up for a corner only to see the taker not beat the first man. That’s amateur football, it’s absoutley unforgivable at this level.

Gallant few

Were you happy with the lack of urgency in a must win game?

Spot on about hitting the first man every time. So frustrating.

I thought the manager got it spot on. Keep it tight early doors, don’t concede and then go for it last 20 mins and hope they get nervous along with their crowd. We just didn’t create that clear chance which is what we’ve been lacking all season against stern opposition.

We keep calling for a creative No.10 and whilst I wholeheartedly agree they don’t come cheap. If we want to compete with that lot again we have to close the gap financially as well as on the field.

It’s clear the manager prefers the in-swinging corner which I totally understand but we’d all surely rather see a good out swinger from Middleton or Halliday than Tav hitting the first man too often.

That's true Molsgoals but Tav and Candy really need to work on their final ball. They both link up superbly at times but the amount of times they either hit the first man or fire it far too long is extremely frustrating to say the least.

Lack of urgency and quality but it's not only the players but equally Stevie G who needs to take responsibility. He has a squad but doesn't seem to want to use them as such or when it's too late. Their coach saw something was missing so made early changes and it affected the game. Gerrard seems to plod along and just hope something better will happen.

When things starting going down with Warburton fans were all over him immediately, no plan B etc etc but Gerrard is getting a free ride from criticism just because of his rep, the football was more entertaining under Warbs too. The last 3 games have looked like England did when Gerrard was in midfield. Body language is important and Morelos and Gerrard both look miserable all the time. A bit more encouragement wouldn't go amiss.
PS Leave Tav alone we would be lost without him.

BeeGB,

A lot of sense in your post, but I would say if we got a decent offer for Tavernier then we should sell. Feel he doesn’t really turn up in the big games and doesn’t really inspire the team when the going gets tough.
