RE: Poll on Ranger singing footballers on abilities only. I wholeheartedly agree with this versus the Catholic or Protestant argument. However signing for Rangers is not just about footballing ability and never will be. To be a Ranger is something very special and I believe all players have to sign u to a list of very strict rules and deal with a lot of stuff we never see or hear about. If it was ability only, Windass and Pena would still be playing. If you could name one player as the Ranger role model flawless ON and OFF the pitch from past and present, who would it be. Bomber Brown, John Greig, Souness Albertz, Laudrup?

Football ability is a must but not all. players need the right mentality and attitude to play for rangers. players with good ability have failed to make the grade at rangers before regardless of religion or Creed.

Richard gough would also have to be on that list! He was an absolute superb rangers captain and IMO, the best centre half to have played for rangers, bar none!

Can’t be that strict when Michael O hallaron
is in the Celtic end at Hamden. I hope you are correct as we need to set the benchmark for standards. Playing for Rangers should be an honour.

Hi William, I say they have to follow strict rules, I think there is a big folder of dos and donts, eg. you will be sent home if you're not wearing a suit to Ibrox. I then go on to say they have to deal with off the field stuff most of which we never find out about, the extensive charity work for example. Perhaps under Warburton and Pedro our traditions/ standards fell short and the players they signed didn't achieve the Rangers standard. Gerrard will bring us back in line with a fist of Iron and will not sign a player not willing to run through a wall, get up and do it again and again, then go to a hospital full of children and brighten their day up.

Wrong TJBB, windass and pena lacked ability, that's why they don't play for us anymore. I do agree though that it takes more than ability to play for us 👍.
