Reading a lot of posts regarding players not being good enough etc. For me the manager has assembled a very good squad of players albeit very inconsistent. But it's the managers job to manage that inconsistency. He has a very large squad, he and his coaches should be recognising which players are on form, off form, depesperate for a chance etc. But he seems to be failing in that department atm which needs to improve.

I also think how he sets his team out needs looked at. For me Kent and Candeias need to play more central to support Morelos. They are far too wide offering no support. In this 4-2-3-1 formation the attacking midfielders should be as much a threat as the main striker. Ours are offering very little other than industry and crosses into an empty box. I know width is important to create space but the attacking full backs can do this and should be supplying most of the crosses!

lol zikos i have heard it all now kent and candeias are too wide well mate that's where a winger should be, i get what your saying i. e support for morelos but wingers should be hugging the touchline and firing in crosses something candeias can't do to save his life granted but a good attacking side need width.

To be honest anyone apart from mcgregor goldson katic arfield jack kamara could go, the loans will obv go although hopefully we can extend kent's stay. I think tav and morelos will be sold and if we want marquee signings then that's where the money would come from. We obv need a ST and a RB. I also think we need a right mid/ winger and our central midfield needs overhauled, not enough dig or creativity in the centre of midfield for me. I would stick with katic and goldson at the back. Could murphy play the number 10? It was ashame he got injured because he started the season so well. Barasic made a difference on saturday, looked much better in a 442 as did the whole team. Teams will always sit in and make it tight against us, they have been doing it for decades, but there is absolute No point hitting he byline to fire in crosses with only wee fredo to aim at. Signing players that can play 442 has to be the way forward for next season other wise we continue to struggle against the better spl sides. We are so predictable at the moment. We go from side to side then hit a hopeful ball in that easily gets cleared because we have no height and no one to aim at, except wee fredo. Two St is the way forward. 👍 eg, boyd miller. Jelavic miller. Mccoist hately. Dodds wallace. Pointless putting an aimless ball in hoping one wee st does the buisness. Big laff hasn't had a fair crack or enough game time consistently to build any form. Laff tore motherwell apart at fir park in the 3 each draw and grabbed us a draw in villareal. The goal he scored for hearts against celtic at the start of the season proves he can finish. 10min here and there is in no way enough time to judge him. Laff and morelos could be great together. How many crosses did we put in on saturday after we went to 442? Plenty, how many did wee defoe and fredo win? None. 👍.

Queens11 - That's my point, we are playing with out and out wingers, they can't influence a game other than cross into the box. and if we're only playing one up top then the chances of an end product are slim. They need to play inside slightly and let the attacking full backs overlap giving us width.

The problem for me is Morelos is the only source of goals. Kent and Candeias can't score any goals if they are hugging the touchline. Jack and the other holding midfielder can't as their too deep, therefore going by your expectation we need a number 10 to score 30 goals per season?

No We need the attacking 3 behind Morelos to be chipping in with at least 10 goals per season each.

Not a bad post coldco, but I'm really unsure about Kent, lack of goals and assists.
Agree re barisic, I like him but needs to harden up.

just a thought, how much is a marquee signing these days? what's the definition of one? we sell tav and morelos to buy one marquee signing then surely we are worse off. surely we are trying to strengthen, not weaken.
