Gerard has not earned the right to instantly manage an epl club -especially one of newcastles pedigree. at least Lampard got within a hair of promotion with derby and actually managed a decent side. if mr Gerard does take the job at the geordies he leaves rangers and Scotland a trophyless failure. so stay the f*** here mr g---finish the job. --#55.

Gerrards a smart guy, no way he'd want to work for Ashley. Youd have to be mental to want that job while he's still chairman.

Lampard did a fairly decent job but he'd be nowhere near the Chelsea job under normal circumstances. It's the perfect appointment. They have a ban so can't attract a huge manager but are able to bring in an untested legend and get the fans on board. Plus perfect for him as he has a ready made excuse if it doesn't work out.
