As we all know by now, steven davis won his 113th cap for northern ireland against germany on monday there. Its a fantastic achievement for a terrific midfielder and model pro, who now holds the record of being the most capped northern ireland outfield player, of all time. He is only 7 caps short of overtaking pat jennings, as the most capped northern ireland player ever, which injury permitting he will achieve. I wonder how many caps barry ferguson would have got, if he hadn't been bannished from playing for scotland for the signs on the bench scenario? He would have and certainly was good enough to have reached over 100 caps for scotland. Which brings me on to this guys. Who amongst all us bears do we rate the better midfielder between barry ferguson and steven davis? Could you please do a poll ED? I think this will be pretty close.
Cheers ED, much appreciated pal!

Steven Davis has played at a far higher level than Ferguson, similar in quality in my opinion but Davis is a better professional who has barely pulled out of a NI squad in 15 are so years and I don’t think I’ve ever seen a negative headline in the newspaper about his personal life.

Barry Ferguson for me, no brainier Coop.

2 best midfielders I’ve seen at Ibrox are Ferguson and Durrant. I can remember Cooper but I was a little boy and never actually seen him play.

Are we forgetting 1 Mr Paul gascoigne.

Lunacy to suggest Davis is better than Ferguson. Ferguson was the only world class player Scotland's produced in the past 25 years, with Allan McGregor coming close. Davis, honourable pro and fine player, doesn't come close to how good Barry was. Their personalities, professionalism and headlines have no bearing on this.

While i really like Davis, it is Ferguson by miles . Also not quite sure how Davis has played at a far higher level 36th? Ferguson captained a team in EPL, played in loads of CL ties and captained his country.

In all fairness Barry has stated in the past he regrets what happened and that he was out of order but we all do daft things going through life even the quietest, most sensible people have their moments of stupidness at least he was big enough to admit it was stupid thing to do.

What Barry the crab that ditched us when we bombed out of Europe only to return when we qualified later . Steve Davis has way more loyalty. for me anyhow.

Steven Davis was captain of an epl team
Steven Davis is captain of his country
Steven Davis played nearly 3 times as many times as Ferguson in epl
Davis played in numerous CL and Europa League matches
Davis also played in euro 16
How’s that for ya cambiger.

Gascoigne is without a shadow of a doubt the best centre mid we have ever had. No question.

We know gascoigne is the greatest midfielder ever to have worn the rangers jersey, but the question/ debate was between barry ferguson and steven davis, paul86!

MolsGoals what? That statement makes no sense.

Davis is a good player, wee Barry was a GREAT player. Remember the Scotland v England game where he outplayed our manager?

14.) 12 Sep 2019

Niether Davis or fergie could get near Van Bronckhorst.

Poll isn't very close, coop.

16.) 12 Sep 2019

Ferguson scored more goals than Davis in the spl
Ferguson played in more games in Europe and scored more goals
Ferguson won the PFA young player of the year
Ferguson won the SFW player of the year, twice
Ferguson won the SPL players player of the year
Ferguson helped win 16 trophies in his career.
How's that?
Ferguson was a better football player than Davis. Davis was / is a better bloke than Ferguson. IMO.

12 Sep 2019 16:15:11
Davis is very good but ferguson all day long.

18.) 12 Sep 2019

Wee rino gattuso was amazing.

19.) 12 Sep 2019
12 Sep 2019 17:38:08
Tango, Gattuso played 34 games for rangers 21 at right back, hardly up there as a great.

20.) 12 Sep 2019
12 Sep 2019 17:52:03
Wee Barry all day long and twice on a Sunday!

21.) 12 Sep 2019
12 Sep 2019 19:36:21
For anybody wanting to lists then Rino is by far the best player let alone midfielder to have ever played for us. Would still pick Gazza over them all though, at his peak.

To suggest Davis, who i like, is as good as Ferguson, is utter nonsense. Ferguson was different class. He seems to be forgotten when people speak about legends of our club. One of the best midfielders we have ever had.

23.) 12 Sep 2019

Ferguson (the master of the sideways pass) was a good player but I can't understand how people's perception changes with time. Maybe I too suffer from this condition but in the opposite way as although I remember him being a good player, I only remember one season where he was outstanding - which was the same era as Ronald de Boer.

After De Boer left he returned to just being good.

Of that era I personally think Van Bronkhurst was by far the best we had. Then you could flip a coin between Ferguson, Tugay and Reyna. All good midfielders.

Between Davis and Ferguson I think Davis is technically the better all round player (IMO) but Ferguson had more drive and energy in the middle of the park. In terms of being the biggest fud well we all know which one wins that one!

36th, you stated Davis had played at a far higher level and then went on to its list lots of similar achievements. My point was merely that Ferguson to had played at a very high level so this statement was factually incorrect.
