Imo what our team needs is a terrier/ killer with a great engine.
Gatuso, McCall, Denis wise type player. That would buzz around the midfield winning everything. This would allow or more silky players to do the damage like Jack, Davis, Arfield, Kamara.

Definitely Stewarty, we need a fight for the middle!

A terrier like player to allow jack and Davis as our silky players to go forward? Oh you mean a defensive midfielder? Yeah like jack and Davis? Pfff.

What we need in midfield is a machine in the mould of the manager himself or wee Barry. Strong, skilful, bags of energy, likes a tackle, good passer, leads from the front. You can get one for about £50 million. Either that or we go down the cheaper road of employing a couple of assassins who can rotate their suspensions.

We had one in wee billy gilmour but he slipped through the net. Rangers should have offered him the world to stay as this lad shall be a 50 million pound talent.

The covenanter as a matter of interest pal, how highly did you rate our former captain barry ferguson?
I thought baz was the best midfielder to come out of scottish football over the last 25 years. He was a superb midfielder imo.

I agree with you fauldhoose bear!
Billy Gilmour is already a terrific, young midfielder and will go on to become one of the best midfielders, to come out of scotland in many a year. I rated barry ferguson so highly, but i think gilmour will be better than baz was.
What's your thoughts mate?

Ferguson was class, exactly the type of player we need. 👍.

It wasn't just Barry Fergusons ability that made him such a great player, it was also his attitude and desire. He would carry the team on many occasions.

Davis is not a defensive midfielder and the type of player that you mention is not Gerrards type of player, hence McRorie got sent out on loan, even though in 2 old firm games in Gerrards first season, he was the best player on the park.

Yip, baz was born to captain the famous glasgow rangers! He was a terrific captain and of course a superb midfielder. 👌.

Ferguson was a great player but what helped him greatly was that he was also surrounded by some great players at the time.

Class player coops but think he made wrong move going to Blackburn.

Saw Barry play for Scotland against England at Wembley 98 and I reckon he was MOTM and looked better than Beckham and even Scholes on the night.

A superb player at his best albeit to be fair he wasn't quite the player Scholes was.

Yeah Baz was brilliant for a spell at Rangers, left for the wrong club, but he went down in my estimation with some of the drivel he came out with in the press about Rangers, of all the guys you want your ex captains to fight your corner with the bitter Scottish press. We have too many ex players bad mouthing us and acting like uncle Toms in the press, it disgusts me.

Yip great player in Scotland, crap player in England.

SGL, I'm biased having helped to coach Barry in his junior years, but I believe he is the best Rangers player this century. As for Gilmour, good bad or indifferent he didn't want to be a Ranger so doesn't enter my head. He never 'slipped through the net' as Fauldhoose Bear spuriously claims, he left us because he wanted to and no offer from us would have changed his greedy wee mind. Good luck to him, but he's never one of us.

Ah, so we need a Ross McRorie. Wonder where we'll find one of those players.

The covenanter i usually have a healthy debate with biased celtic fans regarding who was the best scottish midfielder between our very own barry ferguson and their own paul mcstay. Obviously they say mcstay was better than baz, but without being biased, i think barry was better than mcstay and down in england proved that for me! I agree with fauldhoose bear that barry ferguson did go to the wrong club in blackburn rovers and should have waited, as i was told back then that both liverpool and newcastle utd wanted to sign baz. Baz went to blackburn because of graeme souness but should have waited and would have had the choice to sign for either liverpool or newcastle utd!
Did you know this yourself the covenanter and do you reckon baz was good enough to play for liverpool?

The stuck barry ferguson was superb in most games for blackburn rovers and birmingham city my friend. I watched baz outshine our current manager steven gerrard in a blackburn rovers v liverpool game. I think baz proved down there in england, he could more than hold his own, with even the so called best midfielders in that league. Baz was pure quality mate, no doubt about that! 👌👍.

You partly answered your own question, SGL! Barry had a really good spell at Blackburn and he was indeed influenced by Souness and there's nothing wrong with that, mate! The offer on the table was from Blackburn, no other offer was received or refused.
