Raskin out for this weekend and back in training next week (not holding my breath) . We need to have a look at the medical department it seems once the older doctor left at the end of last season our injury record has been an absolute joke.

This has been the same since Souness' days.

A doctor cures injury not prevent them, raskin had same injury in Belgium.

And every injury seems to have lasted a lot longer than it should have except Goldson so either the manager is downplaying all of them or the medical department is not running as it should.

He will have overloaded over a short period of time. It happens when you haven’t been playing regularly. It doesn’t sound like a bad strain and happens.

Ive just spent a while looking at stat on games played on the back of a Q on Roofe, some payers are just more robust than others with their physiology. Weve had players that can play touching 45-60 games a season for a number of years and some that can only do half of that. Not down to doctors. Generally we need to be better in the transfer market and pick senior players with a consistent history of playing at least 35-50 games for at least 2 to 3 years, at least then you have a fighting chance of keeping them fit.

So, even Raskin was signed with a known injury?
I give up.

From the BMJ:

TEAMS DOCTORS see themselves mainly involved in the treatment and recovery process, and to a lesser degree, in the prevention process.

PHYSIOTHERAPISTS defined their primary responsibilities as screening for injury risk and providing individual exercises to players.

The participants declared that FITNESS COACH is responsible for INJURY PREVENTION implementation.

All stakeholders reported that the FITNESS COACH plays a vital role in communication by bridging the head coach and the medical staff.

Head of Fitness:

SG-Jordan Milsom, Sports scientist (3 degrees inc PHD)
GVB-Arno Phillips, Physiotherapist, no qualifications on Linkedin
MB-Jack Ade, Sports scientist (4 degrees inc PHD)

Do the Math.

Raskin has damaged his quad muscle, we have no idea how badly, whether its a strain or a pull or its torn, so how would we know whether he is out longer than he should?

The winter World Cup has had a major impact on the season being compressed for all players.

Next season is going to be worse.

I expect between the medical team, the sports scientists and the fitness coaches to not have as many long term injuries as we’ve had this season. You say overloaded but fatigue shouldn’t lead to 3 weeks out. Is it just coincidence we lost our club doctor then everyone starts dropping like flies?
