Scott Carson signs one year extension on 1.5 millions

Delighted to be a number three. He says not that he would want it to happen but a keeper could be injured.

John it’s a decision some goalkeepers will make in life that is perfectly logical. Secure your future, be part of a squad that’s one of if not the greatest premier league teams ever, get to train with some of the best footballers in the world ie KDB and Haaland and see first hand the inner workings of one of the greatest managers of all time, all while earning millions of pounds and like you said there’s always the chance keepers could get injured and you get your shot. People might say lack of ambition etc but I sure as hell wouldn’t sniff at that scenario in life.

Correct el buff. Yet if butland signs as a two for Man U he lacks ambition.

Some football players don’t love football and love to play it either. Some just see it as a good way of earn amazing cash over a short period.

Recently bumped into Norwich no.2 keeper Michael McGovern, barely played for years yet was wearing a £150,000 Patek Phillipe watch. Happy to sit on the bench and become a millionaire, that’s the life.

Extremely short career. All about the cash at end of the day.

I'd very happily be Man City's fourth choice keeper, I'd be happy with 75k a week??.

The keepers family are maybe settled in the area that they live in so have the bonus of the big wage where his family are happy.

It's not always about the money, some players want first team football.
