Seen a stat yesterday that the Brighton team that battered man united at the weekend cost less than £17m to assemble. I get that they will be worth way more than that now but that was the figure it cost to bring the players in. So it just goes to show you. If you spend wisely and scout properly, there is ways to construct a free flowing, easy on the eye, exciting football team.

The goal they scored was just unbelievable to watch. If anyone hasn’t seen it please go and watch it, they must have made around 60 passes I think everyone including keeper touched the ball, it was embarrassing for Utd. And then a great finish by Ferguson I believe. I had game on at the time but never realised how good the goal was and seen it again online, just wow what a goal.

The boy Ferguson is some player. He is going to be a superstar.

Brighton are a fantastically run football club from top to bottom and is the perfect model to follow ?
Brentford are also a very well run football club ?.

Aye they don't sign players who were good 3 seasons ago unlike Rangers.

I’m not sure but possibly although £17m to assemble, the wage structure around the players would not be comparable with what we could offer players or can afford to pay.

We done better than them. We got 16 players for 13 million. So we got much better value.

Big Davie Weir is the technical advisor at Brighton, have Rangers missed an opportunity here, reckon he could do a job on the back room staff ?.

The boy Ferguson is Dereks other boy. Lewis's brother. I am sure we could have got him too. Think he played at Hamilton.

Yeah, I saw that stat kicking about but not sure it’s accurate, certainly a bit misleading anyway. Possibly it meant just the starting 11, however the guy Pedro who scored the third cost £30m alone. They do however prove the fact that their are a lot of talented players out there who don’t cost tens of millions. Although the fact that they are able to pay ‘premier league wages’ would certainly be a factor in regards being able to attract those players over a club like ourselves. We may of potentially been able to match some of the fees they payed for players, we’d never be able to match the wages or even attract those types of players in the first place due to the league we play in.

Big fez no he's not. He's the son of a different Barry Ferguson. No relation, nor at Hamilton.

The boy ferguson is a rep of Ireland International so I doubt he's Lewis Ferguson's brother?.

The difference is Brighton have the selling point of the premiership slightly different to the spfl.

We cannot offer the wages, the platform, the bonuses and probs most of all a %of any selling fee, as we would probs sell for peanuts or let them walk.
They are good to watch when they click mind.

What do you think of the VAR pullback of Hojlund's goal. Is the ball decisively out of bounds. The camera angle allows you to see grass between the bottom of the ball and the line but is it as clear about the side edge of the ball. This is where VAR has truly f*ct it IMO. We went from catching obvious refereeing errors to measuring millimeters for goals and offsides and penalties. The rules are about fairplay and sporting advantage. I don't think being half a foot offside as having an unfair sporting advantage. Sometimes its like getting done for grand theft for stealing a sweetie from the bulk bin at the local grocers.

They're on a different level in that league but does show what can be achieved even on a budget compared with big spenders around them with proper scouting and structure at a club.

Aye good one big fez ?.

It’s a myth they don’t have a big budget or are well backed.
Turnover is double Rangers at £174 million ( huge EPL TV deal helps ) .
Owner has pumped in £500 million - £410 million which are loans ( and we worried about our Director Loans! ) .
2021-2022 was the first year they had made a profit in 5 years – £24 million. Previously lost £240 million over 4 years.
Where they have succeeded is in transfers. Buy low, sell high. But that is due to EPL prices.
And I think since 2021 they aren’t far away from £200 million in sales.
They got £21 million compensation for Potter from Chelsea!

Brighton are the club we loan Sima from are they not? They paid £7m for him.

A very good accurate post, as always media misleading, go actually look what they have spent on players. Signing on fees and bonus eclipse what is paid in transfer fees

We never missed a trick re weir he walked out on us.
Yes he is very good at what he does but sneaked ou.

24.) 19 Sep 2023
19 Sep 2023 16:32:16
Yes he did … I believe warburton did to but he denies that . He tool McKay who wouldn’t sign a new deal for ages …
I think this was all manipulation at the time .
He was getting a hard time from our boo boy’s surprise surprise.

19 Sep 2023 16:41:37
Orange tinted they spent 84 million on players this year alone. Where they do really well is selling.
Can't possibly say they got there team for 17 million.

Mph, good post. I didn't realise those where the figures involved.

27.) 19 Sep 2023
19 Sep 2023 17:02:43
Yes I remember, the board said Warburton and weir had resigned, they said they hadn’t but they both went anyway, I think another was involved as well but can’t remember his name but I don’t remember em sneaking out .

28.) 19 Sep 2023
19 Sep 2023 17:44:56
Brummie, rangers took as they had resigned as both had rocked up at forest for an interview with no permission.

John 227, thanks for putting me right. I didn’t know about the interview at Forest, I think they got the boot at Forest in the end . Again cheers fella.

Blue north the ball was out so var got that one correct the same way they got our offside goal correct.

Storm is it offside once the ball leaves the foot of the kicker or when the ball starts it's forward motion? Or when the legs swings forward on the intent to kick. Just need to know for future debates on whether its offside. Because it is so much more fun than actually actually watching football.
