Got to agree with ibrox noise if this is true they think souness may have talked himself out of the job he apparently had after he told the world on talksport he preferred Lampard for the job.

I think the guys just telling the truth to a question he’s been asked.
he’s always been a straight shooter, what u see is what u get with me souness.
We respect and admire his honesty, he doesn’t beat about the bush with anyone or anything.

However, what is said in the board room should stay there and he shouldn’t be discussing private conversations and decisions like that in public.

It’s not a major deal and perhaps call it a mistake.
We will let him off.

Favouring Lampard for the job allows others to rightly question his judgement. I’m glad the Board weren’t influenced by his “input”. The game has changed since Graeme last had a meaningful job at club level. Maybe the ambassadorial role previously mooted is a more appropriate role for what he has to contribute at this stage.

Loved what Souness did for club in early years and the memories he gave us all and that will never be forgotten but it seems now he is a bit detached from the modern game and also still may have the caveman attitude from 80s which initially suited us well as that was the norm at every club then - but with every word being scrutinised in todays press/ social media maybe it would be wrong thing for club to do to bring him in on a major appointment role - also don't think Souness is short of a bob or two so would be good if he chose an investment route of helping the club (as club was good financially to him in the heydays) rather than looking for a soundbite and hanging on the clubs ability to be relevant and visible in media especially after he was pushed out from Sky TV. I have gut feeling HE wants a role far bigger than the club is willing to offer and he MAY see that as beneath him - only my thoughts lads.

Think this been blown way out of proportion by some. He backed both as great choices, it's not like he was against Clement, what he said was he felt Lampard would get west of scotland mentality more so that would give him the edge of the two in his mind but was happy with both options.

That he back Lampard as a great choice then publicly said so absolutely questions his credentials for any role in the present.

Souness was a great player and he obviously did great things for us as a manager, none more so than bringing in Walter, but there's no place for sentiment. In my view there's been too much of that around the place the last few years.

Competence should be all that we're looking for in any role and his stance on Lampard, who for all he was a fantastic player has been nothing short of honking in 3 of his 4 managerial roles, above average in the other, doesn't scream competence of judgement, arguably the primary skillset for any role at the level we're talking.

I like Souness as a guy but I don't think there's a place for him in a successful structure outside of sentiment.

IBROX noise is a click bait site, he reads different sites this one included and will use people’s posts as his next story, that’s fair enough but I wouldn’t hang my hat on his information.

I think he lost the boards trust when he did that interview and backed Lampard, it also undermines Clement if we now give him an official role. I loved the guy when he was the manager and what he did for the club was amazing but he did leave us right in the middle of the title run in . He seems to be forgiven and would be welcomed back and yet Steven Gerrard is still getting pelters . Hopefully time passing will be as kind to him.

I recon souness was doing what souness does, looking out for himself. IMHO he suggested FL as he had a established relationship with Frank, through his media work. We all know that if souness does return to the club that he won't be satisfied to sit in the background and will try to interfere and change things across the club. This would be easier to achieve if FL was the manager, however I think that PC is very much his own man and will not be that easily influenced.
