Unless I've missed something over the past few weeks I don't recall hearing much from Dave King about the proposed millions of pounds that he was 'allegedly' going to pump into Rangers. With the new season just around the corner not a single significant top quality signing has been made (Wilson, good player he may be, is far from being a top quality signing) and along with a Derby reject in the £200,000 bracket followed a 35yr old still recovering from serious injury and no sell-on value, must surely raise concerns. There have been hundreds of names banded about recently that are stupidly being suggested as Rangers signing targets. It's doubtful if, in the short term, Rangers can pay the transfer fees or the salaries required to bring in the number of quality players that would be needed to achieve the pie-in-the-sky dreams of Champions League football let alone European football within the space of a couple of seasons. Promotion to the SPFL is not a certainty by any means and one big stumbling block might still be a certain Mike Ashley who, at the present time, still holds the Aces.

Wish some people on here would get a grip. Wanting king to spend millions on players for goodness sake we are in the championship and still 2 windows at least to get to the top league so let's not go back to overspending on players we really shouldn't require until next season and give mark war burton a chance to build a team for the future. Rant over

2.) 25 Jun 2015 23:41:39
the fans do not demand king pumps millions in but it would be nice to see a wee bit of money spend on getting 1 or 2 quality players in and to get that you have to pay a bit more money we need a top attacking midfielder and a top striker that is where we should be looking at strengthen now and if we have money to spend we should use it for there I am not a fan off loaning players cause if they play good other teams come in for them and value goes up and the player usually doesn't pick the club he was loaned to so the team develops the player but loss out because he doesn't sign if we are looking at developing players and selling on for a transfer fee then I think we need to be signing players on longer contracts than two years if we don't there will be no sell on value they will play one season then we would have 2 cash in for small fee in following year or lose them for nothing in jan

Well said bt61

4.) 26 Jun 2015 05:19:40
Things are actually taking shape slowly but properly for the first time in 3 years so no actually genuine Rangers fans are not negative 'persons' like you and after producing the management team that a huge majority of Rangers fans wanted your negative idiocy is pathetic to say the least.

Ashley is being negotiated with presently and as the vote showed at EGM the fans are in agreement over holding back his £5m payment until his people get to the table and renegotiate the kit deal to favour Glasgow Rangers and not Sports Direct courtesy of one Charles Green whom I believe owns a French plush property due to the fact he sold off the Rangers kit deal for nothing but certainly it suited Green and his pals

5.) 26 Jun 2015 06:37:03
Big transfer fees usually lead to large salaries. Don't see how we'd need to spend over a million on any player. The gaffer is probably waiting to assess what he has at his disposal. He has at least sorted out the cb problem. Its a long way to go and important we get the right players in the right positions.

6.) 26 Jun 2015 07:07:10
This Sports direct retail deal is the monkey on our back just now I think it's holding a lot of things up at present hopefully it can be dealt with sooner rather than later

7.) 26 Jun 2015 07:31:05
KT: Read the post correctly. In what way is anything said that is "negative". Correct me on any point that is factually wrong in relation to Dave King, the three signings or Mike Ashley. And, if memory serves me right Ashley only asked for repayment of his tranche of 5 million now rather than later and when he got wind that the supporters would veto that he took out an injunction that prevented details of his "loan/investment" being released. He is not rushing around begging the board for anything, all he is doing is making things a bit difficult, and at who's cost??. The guy is not an idiot, he continues to pull the strings right now.

8.) 26 Jun 2015 07:48:07
Good post B.B.

9.) 26 Jun 2015 08:26:01
B.B are you for real with fans like you who needs enemies really it's beyond belief spending millions got us in this mess get real and take your head out the sand

10.) 26 Jun 2015 09:19:18
if spending millions is beyond belief then why did our chairman say he would give all this season ticket money to the new manager to spend on the squad this is not the fans asking for this money it was our chairman stating this him self or was he just being a bit foolish at the time in now realises he can not do this time will tell but I personally would like to see a quality striker bought and a attacking midfielder and a goalkeeper this could be difference between 1st and 2nd king said he would spend what it takes so do not think the fans asking for a bit of money to be spent are in the wrong as king said this will happen

11.) 26 Jun 2015 09:56:01
At the moment it would appear that we would have been better going with a "knight" than a "King". Sangster it would appear will give Levante a war chest of £30m to develop the team whereas, so far, all that King has done is spouted hot air on the odd occasion that he has been in the UK.
We are just a matter of weeks away from the start of the new season and right now we don't have a quality right back, (admittedly we haven't had one for a few seasons now), we have a dodgy goalkeeper, we have no midfield and our attack is primarily Miller and a guy that couldn't score in a brothel! We have made two good signings but we are at least four or five players short of where we need to be. I am not saying that we should be spending megabucks but I do believe that to get the type of quality we need there will need to be at least £four or five million spent. Otherwise and despite my faith in Warburton we will struggle to win this league.

12.) 26 Jun 2015 10:00:23
Unless it was pure bluster to get you to buy season tickets then King has already said he plans an OVERSPEND over the next three seasons and remember this was to be front loaded. Now if that doesn't happen then he lied to get your cash up front, or alternately the board will sanction an overspend, an overspend you would imagine that would be reflected in signings and wages. So whether you need players costing a good bit of cash or not King has already said he will spend the season ticket money of 45,000 folk or make up the shortfall, to the amount of approximately £12m-£13m. Is it madness and totally over the top for the Championship? Of course it is but in his interview at the start of June that is more or less what he said so by that definition sure B.B is right, there is nothing highly inspiring so far.

It could well be that the actual manager, who wasn't in place at the time, reckons he can do it without chucking millions at the problem, who knows, maybe it wasn't for King to say prior to having a manager but with Dave there is always a good deal of bluster. In the same interview he said "We have put our money in, fact!" Short of loans and share investments which have a resellable value, he hasn't put in a bean, FACT! So with regards spending cash, to the tune of maybe £12m to £13m maybe he has uninspired so far, maybe Warburton sees a different route or maybe glib Dave was just being glib Dave.

13.) 26 Jun 2015 10:14:51
yeh it certainly seems saver was the real and instead of talking has put his money on the table certainly looks like we missed out on this one least we have rangers people at the helm and no they want do anything to damage the club or lie to the fans that is one bonus

14.) 26 Jun 2015 10:33:04
As always Gaz a good, sensible informed post.I wish some of your brethren were capable of the same, mate.

15.) 26 Jun 2015 11:31:58
Gannet101: Like KT, you've not read my post correctly. It was Dave King who mentioned putting in "millions" not me or anyone else. My original post was being realistic as to the present player signings situation and ongoing circumstances surrounding Mike Ashley and nothing else. Remember that it costs in total, around 10 grand to apply for an injunction and the same again to contest one. Pocket money to Mike Ashley but like gold-dust to the Rangers board right now. It would appear that other posters gkk, Craigs8688, TOM42 and Gaz1 see where I'm coming from.

16.) 26 Jun 2015 12:37:33
Cheers gkk. I know it was the day he was in essence doing his sales pitch regards season tickets but he really shouldn't have said a word regard expenditure till he had a manager in place and got their vision of what he planned. Warburton might pull out cheap gem after gem, it is still initially going to look like uninspiring penny pinching after King's daft, unnecessary pledge at the time.

And the thing is you would all have bought into that "Well our strategy regards new players won't be in place till after we have a manager." Who is going to argue with that logic? Instead because it is ST renewal day he promises you £12m-£13m be it financed by yourselves or other means. Sounds desperate and unnecessary and makes me think it's all a bit haphazard.

OP. It should be even simpler than that if there is to be play-offs. 2nd bottom of the Premier against 2nd top of championship

Call me cynical if you like but my take on the latest circus event is that it's a move to make it as difficult as possible for King & 3 Bears if the succeed with the proposed EGM. 5 players in on loan means extra outgoings by way of extra wages with Gers picking up the tab for the 5 at anything between 50 & 70 per cent of their salaries which could be in the top bracket of those currently on the payroll and by not selling any players in the transfer window those outgoings increase substantially. It would then transpire that a new board would have a possible cash-flow problem and find it difficult to pay off the loans secured by Ashley. Remember these 5 players are only on a short term loan an I suggest will cost a pretty packet. If Ashley turns up trumps at any EGM he can then re-negotiate the loan terms as to suit himself. Worrying times ahead.

B.B.

1.) The whole situation stinks. The man who has just provided us with a crisis loan on his favourable terms has now decided to loan us five players who will I would guess be getting paid at least partly from that crisis loan.

Mike wins and then wins again.

Utterly disrespectful too to Kenny MacDowall although you could argue he does not deserve too much respect.

Fat Mike has just stuck his middle finger up to the SFA who really should not allow this deal to go through unless they actually want to argue that Ashley is not in control of the club against their rules.

Campbell Ogilvie a great football administrator? What a joke.

2.) Naz yes he has not only gave our club the loan, he is now telling his board how to spend the money.

For any Rangers team to not register a single shot on target against their arch enemies is nothing short of disgraceful. It makes no difference that the current squad are not a patch on any squad in previous years, that statistic is unacceptable. The management along with the senior players must shoulder the blame for what, if the truth be told, was a stroll in the park for a Celtic side who were never, throughout the 90 minutes, put under any pressure whatsoever. Scottish Champions! Europe! Champions League! not for a few years yet, if at all, and certainly not at all until there is a complete change from top to bottom.

B.B.

1.) McDowall is a clown and is even more incompetent than Ally was. He has just copied ally's tactics, used the same players and same formation and if they didn't work for Ally why would they work for him?

@wee bill. Just a thought. Where would Rangers be right now if it wasn't for Scottish football. I don't recall interest in Rangers from any other country.

{Ed039's Note - Funny that being a football team based in Scotland ....... I believe we have honestly found the nomination for the newly created "stoopidist post o' the day" sponsored by B.B.)

I think the 1 am george is mistaken. If the value of property can cover both security applicatiions the first application then has "first call" in the event of a call to recover the debt. In other words if you give a loan of £1 against an assett of £5 then you can then use the remaining £4 as security for a further loan.

Daft post. Stop blaming everyone else for the current situation. So called experienced players (many with international experience) with egos the size of the ball they're supposed to put in the opposition net, just couldn't hack it and in the end were unable to beat the 2nd worst team in the SPFL over two legs.
