Really disappointed last night, furious at half time in fact, but in the cold light of day trying to think slightly clearer. We are 1 point behind with 14 to go, 6 points to play for against them with some key players come back into the team (Alfie, Jack, Balogun etc. ) and Ramsey still to be introduced. They haven't beaten us for over 2 years so this was always going to happen at some point. Its now about how we learn from it and react, which i don't doubt we will. This could either be the best or worst thing that could happen to us this season. Ps and i'll probably get slated for saying it but they are a lot better than we gave them credit for and we'll need to match that intensity much better in the next 2 old firm.

Totally correct. Underestimated them totally.

2.) 03 Feb 2022 10:32:56
I've been saying from the beginning of season they have improved drastically and it would be a tough title race. Too many on here been thinking we would romp it.

Don't often post here but avid reader. Just want to say that the job gerrard has done in Europe is beyond incredible. From the progres shambles to comfortable in benfica and looking like 9 out 9 points in group stages of Europa league. Better rangers teams with bigger budgets have struggled in Europe so credit to the gaffer.

Also Morelos work rate attitude movement tonight first class.

Helander is having a nightmare!

2.) 05 Nov 2020 19:37:08
Agree stuck. Been great this season but poor tonight. He’ll bounce back tho big mans a good solid defender.

3.) 05 Nov 2020 19:46:08
That aged well. Such a poor last 10-15.

4.) 05 Nov 2020 19:48:16
We needed better game management last 15.

This place can be incredibly negative at times, reading some of the comments on here you think we'd thrown away the league last night. St Mirren came to park the bus and it can be incredibly difficult to break down (We should know as we did that all the way to Manchester) . Yes we miss Morelos and last night proved that we are a far better team with Tav than without despite the odd defensive mistake.

For all those saying just sign a top quality 3rd striker, what decent striker is going to want to come and sit on the bench/ not get in the team. I'll put the Football Manager/ Fifa aside and trust the judgement of Gerrard thanks.

Top quality permanent striker won’t come in until Morelos sold in summer, but another option in on loan might be a good idea. Defoe done his job last night but offered little else apart from that finish.60 mins or so gone and it would have been nice to have another guy who could have came on and offered something different. There will be guys up for coming in who are maybe not playing at current club that could do us a turn for rest of the season.

2.) 23 Jan 2020 11:00:22
we won't buy a top end striker till morelos leaves. Its pretty simple. He goes, first place is up for grabs, we have money then to spend on a top striker.

3.) 23 Jan 2020 12:04:07
i’m not suggesting for a min we need to go out and splash cash on a top quality / start every wk / 1st choice fwd

there are plenty players who yes, wld come to ibrox for prestige money trophies career enhancement call it what you want even if just to get on bench

yes we have fredo but i’m not naive enough to think he’ll be here forever and at 36 how many yrs does JD have left

even a loan to give us that extra firepower from bench in tight games or as ins policy in case fredo JD get inj / susp

i like stewart and the lad has a knack of getting goals / assists but to me it’s clear gerrard doesn’t rate him as he hardly ever gets a sniff

i’ve been going to Ibrox 30yrs so it's just my opinion lads but another fwd for me cld just help us over line for 55.

4.) 23 Jan 2020 12:23:45
Trev agree totally with your post.

I’d like a right sided forward who can and has played through the middle.
For next season I’d love to see Campbell at rangers.

5.) 23 Jan 2020 13:52:23
Trev, although i agree with most of your post, i don't agree with the defoe part, he will still be banging goals in for another 3 or 4 years mate, his signing was a masterstroke by s. g. Imo.

6.) 23 Jan 2020 21:26:26
Bairdy90, defoe has always been just a goal scorer, but a very very good one, at that, without him last night we might have dropped pretious points, points that could have been hard to recoup mate.

This site can be very negative at times! Yesterday was a struggle, we may question the team selection but we ground out 3 points and if you listen to any ex player/ pundit that's the sort of games that win you leagues, the games where you are flying, winning 3/ 4 nil take care of themselves.

We were away and had a tough game against Porto, got a great point, another 3 points in the league with another league game on Wednesday before a big semi final.

As for the team selection, agree Tav should be off penalties but another assist and hopefully that'll do him some good. As for people slating Stewart a few weeks ago he was getting rave reviews against Aberdeen/ Hamilton etc. Jack clearly is being managed so would folk rather he played yesterday then missed next week's semi? Aribo looks like he lacks heart but maybe just maybe he'll be a better player for it in the 2nd half of the season or maybe next, remember people looking to get shot of Barisic last year.

Yeah Bairdy, have still been coming on site and have done for years and the critics are definitely on here big time. The problem now is for the last 7 years we have been talking about non football pitch related stories and I for one have enjoyed this site but now we are talking football related. Since Mr Gerrard has came into our great club we have become a football club again and thanks to Dave King we are starting to all talk about football again and you can see how desperate Gers fans are to stop Celtic! The team StevieG has put together is excellent and I am loving week to week playing and challenging in the league and in Europe and we should all enjoy it and I do believe we could be onto something special! Let’s all rally round our magnificent club and try to give our best support and I do realise it’s hard not to criticise but like Mr Gerrard says he needs the fans behind him🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧.

Great posts boys 100% 👍.

3.) 28 Oct 2019 13:04:35
Good post yateley. It’s well known I’m not a great fan off tav due to his lack of defensive skills. , which in my opinion have actually improved since Gerrard became manager.
However, I could not believe the stick he was taking during the game from our support.
This was even before the penalty miss. Moaning re crosses, not being close enough or tighter on a well player. One instance he was only a yard away. He has became an easy target for some.
Re the penalty miss, yes he has missed six since he signed, that happens, it is time to try someone else.
I’d like to see Morelos on penalties
Interesting Defoe at spurs missed six in a season.
Also believe if u get more than one penalty in a game you should change the taker.
As the manager said yesterday support the player whoever he is during the match and debate issues after.
As I have said before if we want to win the league we need better defender at rb. My opinion.

4.) 28 Oct 2019 13:05:49
Great posts guys. I was just thinking about how much deep dodo we would have been in if McInnes had accepted the position. Doesn't bear thinking about.

5.) 28 Oct 2019 13:12:03
Well said! I think a lot of the people on here have very short memories and their sense of entitlement is frankly embarrassing.

6.) 28 Oct 2019 16:42:15

7.) 28 Oct 2019 17:23:17
Excellent post Yately, well said.

8.) 28 Oct 2019 17:46:33
When your team plays well, as ours have most games this year, expectations rise we expect it when we play truly exceptional stuff, as against Porto we love it and want that every week. Having said that It's not unreasonable to expect better than we played against Motherwell I never have nor ever will boo my team or any of the players but I do expect better.

9.) 28 Oct 2019 17:51:13
I think people who make excuses are spineless. I much prefer accoutability, the world was a better place👍.

10.) 28 Oct 2019 19:48:30
Superb post Yately, sums up how I feel too.

You'd think we had fallen into the relegation zone after dropping points today. At the end of the day Hearts is always a tough place to go, they haven't beat us or won at home in a while so they were due a big performance. We were poor and yes we need to learn from that but we'd have dropped all 3 there last year, same as against Kilmarnock and St Mirren so there's progress. Still not convinced by Ojo and Tav probably does need a rest but to suggest the captaincy is removed because of a few poor games is tim behaviour. Last season he could do no wrong and in this he'll win us more than he'll loose us, something you can't say about Flanagan. Kent back and Jones/ Jack not far away, not all doom and gloom. let's Go!

Bairdy90

1.) 21 Oct 2019 10:05:49
Actually we took maximum 6 points there last year👍.

2.) 21 Oct 2019 11:04:51
Baird, how can tavernier need a rest? After an international break which he obviously wasn’t involved with and only 9 games into league campaign? He needs dropped!

Given his injury record i'd be really surprised if Gerrard wants him. Good player when fit but not fit nearly enough. If someone comes in with decent money for him bite their hand off.

The same atrocious Angel Gomes that's linked with a free transfer to Barcelona? Not sure we'd get him if he's turning down what Man Utd are offering but wouldn't say no. Concern would be how small/ slight he is for the Scottish game.

They asked to be excluded from Europe so they could be exempt from Financial Fair play, safe to say they have some money.

Been heavily linked with Brighton apparently, doubt we will be interested unless Morelos is sold.

I think Lundstram has been excellent last few months, as was Alfie pre injury however Tav for has been excellent for a longer period and has come up with big moments when its mattered.

I'd also factor in that Bonnyrigg don't lose their best players every internal break (which the lowland league doesn't stop for) .

Really good point Ted. We had 6/ 7 who would be in the squad, if not starting, have been in the last 4 away games to Livi (where we struggle), Hearts (tough), Aberdeen (who for them its a cup final) and Hibs. 4 points ahead and with a more favorable run of games coming up. Celtic aside of course which takes care of itself.
