I'm not on to speculate or offer any inside knowledge on who we should sign but if there is anymore money to be spent I think we should be looking closer to home and my main reason for that is Ryan Jack. I also think there's a case to be made when you look at what Walter did after taking over from PLG.

Ryan Jack, in my opinion, has not only been our best signing but our top performer in the beginning of this season. With that in mind we have to be looking at what other players are available in the SPFl. He hasn't needed time to adjust to the league or his surroundings, he's been able to come in immediately and do a job.

If I were manager my current shopping list would be;

Kenny McLean - proven player in our league, one of Aberdeen's best and close to the end of his contact. He would come in and instantly make up my midfield three with Jack and Dorrans.

Graeme Shinnie - same as above, probably Aberdeen's best and most valuable player and versatile. I've been concerned with Wallace and I think he'd give us a boost in energy down the left. Tackles well and has a great left foot (would cost a pretty penny) .

Chris Cadden - again, versatile, often plays at RWB against us. Quick and capable of putting a decent ball into the box.

Louis Moult - Has fed off Cadden's crosses last season and has a good goal return in this league. Perhaps not my starting striker as I like the look of Miller but someone I think is worth a punt. I'd have had Liam Boyce but that ship has sailed.

John Souttar - I think Souttar has a lot of potential and we absolutely need another CB. He's maybe not the toughest of centre backs but he can play and he looked very comfortable at Ibrox on Saturday.

Jamie Walker - looked like a guy that doesn't want to be at Hearts at the weekend but definitely their best player on his day. Can create, score and is busy. I think we'll still be pushing for him and would love to get him in.

I don't know if anyone else agrees with this, it's what I personally think is needed to bring a bit of stability and consistency. Worried that we're going down the same route as we did with Warburton where players are needing far too much time to settle, leading to a poor start that we can't recover from. I don't expect us to go and nab these players but it wouldn't be a bad foundation to build on.

Agreed BlueSea, great points.

I would like to see a couple of players that know the league and he Scottish game, however the one problem with that is that Scottish Clubs want well over the odds when Rangers are interested, same with Celtic tbh. I mean 1m for Jamie Walker with a year left? Not worth that IMO. If he had 3 years left then yes. It's the Scott Allen saga all over again. They've always done it to us and Rangers just paid the money in the past and look where we ended up

The other thing is that many proven Scottish based players have failed when coming to Rangers. So it's a gamble all the same.

Ending on a positive note, results have not went our way, (for more reasons that one we need to remember), indo bekeive the team is better than last year, Morelos, Candeias, Jack, Dorrans and Alves are clearly better players than their counterparts last season. Also Windass looks like a different player. Things are improving, luck has just not gone our way.

3.) 21 Aug 2017 14:00:37
Cant argue with that mate, they are all proven SPFL players.
Proven to be SPFL also rans.

Totally agree with blue sea if mcinness had been appointed majority if not all would have been signed along with stevie may

My team for Sunday (based on the fact I'm guessing he won't change the shape) :

Alnick (let's see what he can do)
Hodson, Bates (again, let's see) Wilson, Wallace.
Tav
Hyndman Windass
Burt, Dodoo, McKay

That's a young front line and I've no idea how it would do but we're crying out for some energy and enthusiasm. Give young Burt a chance and see what he gives us.

I'm desperate for a good performance this weekend. We badly need a lift!

I don't see many changes being made for cup game keeper maybe. I would like to see bates getting game time and dodoo played through middle but the pressure mw is under I can't see him trying anything new.

2.) 10 Feb 2017 15:09:31
Looking like young Billy Gilmour may get his chance this weekend. Prob be from the bench but will be good to see what he can give

3.) 10 Feb 2017 15:17:52
The cup is all we have left we need a strong team not yours.

4.) 10 Feb 2017 16:38:03
MW won't make more than 2 changes because it will upset any rhythm that we have. Bring in more inexperiece and get beat - imaging the furore on here!

5.) 10 Feb 2017 18:42:26
Burts an attacking midfielder and you have him right wing and tav is a right back at cdm haha.

I'm just as disillusioned and to be honest, as embarrassed as every other Rangers fan at the moment and I'm very much in the camp that seriously doubts Mark Warburton's tactical ability. As for training, I would love to be a fly on the wall and see what a day at Auchenhowie looks like because from what I can see they don't do nearly enough work around defensive organisation from middle to back, attacking penetrative exercises from middle to front or any work at all on set pieces (attacking or defensive). If they are, it isn't working!

During a game his substitutions are predictable, if we can call them as fans in the stands then opposition managers will have him sussed well before kick off on any given game day. His failure to sense when a game is not going in our favour is big worry for me and in general, he's beginning to look like a man way out of his depth.

I feel sorry for him in a way with regards to transfers. He's been failed by a man that's been quoted as one of the best in the business and a lot of them haven't lived up to their billing (bit of a parallel with the manager himself). You can't account for injuries which have seriously disrupted the impact that could have been from the likes of Rossiter, Windass, Kranjcar and Crooks. However, would I trust him and his staff with any kind of transfer kitty -- no!

As of now we have to still support our team as we always will and that starts tomorrow. Forget Celtic, Aberdeen and Hearts - let's just focus on ourselves and see where this season can take us (ever the optimist). From an outsider looking in, it wouldn't be that bad. Promoted club, sitting second, still in the cup but we as fans know that what we're seeing right now is not acceptable. I will continue to support until the end of this season but when that time comes I'll be calling for and expecting major changes in our footballing department. We need a lengthy and thorough search for a management team to be carried out in preparation for next season because if we are to build and become a stronger football team there's a lot of work needing done that MW isn't capable of doing.

I love him for what he gave us last year and the three year plan sounded great but I'm sorry to say his job has been done and we need to move on to the next level.

Good post BlueBluesea, and I entirely agree that we must support our team to the best of our ability.
For months now, I have felt we were rudderless and now I am totally convinced. DK/ MW have made decisions that have brought about this predicament, but repeating our grievances won't help us achieving second place in the league or a much needed cup run.
What surprises me is DW's lack of input, as he must see what 95% of us see. Our tactics are crap and MW's playing his favourites when there are better options is pathetic.
What I would like is that DK sold his shares to Brian Kennedy, [ if interested. ], who assisted by Graeme Souness [ Director of football. ] and Frank Lampard [ manager. ] before the end of this season.

2.) 03 Feb 2017 16:33:01
I agree with you billy regarding Kennedy but I don't know if he would be interested any more, but that doesn't mean King has to leave but maybe Kennedy could have a more hands on role as King is never hear, but King and the board have pumped money into the club, I'm very surprised if people can't see that, it's not all on transfers but money to run the club as we are still in a 4 million deficit every year, as for warburton, I really like his ideas but I've reached the end of the road after wed night, as a matter of fact, I'm pure gutted, I put so much faith in him, but he just won't accept what we all see, our defence is shocking, Halliday has been really poor, tav great going forward but can't defend, so why is hodson still not getting a game, he can't or won't change a game even when we can see what's wrong during a game, I really like warburton but I'm gutted pure gutted because I can't defend this anymore, now I don't know what will happen but if he did get sacked I would appoint billy Davies with Barry Ferguson as his assistant, now I know most fans wouldn't want them but I firmly believe they both could do a very good job at ibrox, but I don't think that will ever happen, I understand the thinking behind Ronald and frank d, b but I think they would want a serious transfer budget, and we don't have those kind of funds, we would need a share issue, and the one the board wanted got blocked, as we don't want an normal one as Ashley and co would get more power and that really would be a disaster, I, ll still not slate the board or the club I'm just devastated that it might not work out for warburton as it wasn't that long ago he was magic, but his mistakes are there for all to see and because he refuses to address them, I can't support him anymore, witch kills me inside.

3.) 03 Feb 2017 18:12:33
Delboy1979, probably MW's biggest crime was his loyalty to DK. DK is a mercenary, as was proved by his season ticket boycott and his comment that the best option open to us was another liquidation. He has sold MW, up the creek without a paddle. If it wasn't for my love for the Glasgow Rangers, I would wish no good on DK.
We need to be solid for the rest of the season and with our rudderless structure we are as solid as a wet fart, thanks to DK.

4.) 03 Feb 2017 20:52:27
The one person I don't want anywhere near Rangers is Billy Davies. We still have our pride and our self-respect and Davies has done himself no favour with his choice of friends.

I would love to see Kennedy and Souness come in and I still wonder whether with Souness as Director of Football, could MW improve or is he too stubborn and set in his ways.

I would definitely remove Weir since he brings less than nothing to the team, and would be very tempted to get a young manager in as Assistant with a view to him taking over in due course.

Not so much a rumour rather an opinion.

I'd like to see Warbs and the team make a move to bring Gauld on loan with a view to a permanent signing. Ticks all the boxes I think they'd be looking for; young, Scottish, versatile, technically very good.

Not sure that it will or ever could happen (financially) but would be a great coup IMO.

(Also, first time post)

Id love to see him at ibrox mate would suit what warbs is trying to do, think they'll be clubs in england after him though.

2.) 06 May 2016 16:04:00
Something like a £40mil buy-out clause.

3.) 06 May 2016 16:09:12
Agreed would be great to see him at Ibrox on loan.

4.) 06 May 2016 16:54:59
Sporting lisbon are putting him out on loan to another portugese team obviously to see how he copes in there league.

5.) 06 May 2016 20:12:16
Too lightweight, first puff of wind and he would be whisked away over the govan stand.

6.) 06 May 2016 22:21:17
Well he coped fine in a Dundee United side when he was younger he's bound to have grown out a bit.

7.) 06 May 2016 13:38:08
Would be great, lisbon would prefer to loan him to another team in portugal according to the daily record. Who knows tho, european football could be a big pull.

Kenny Miller should be club captain without a shadow of a doubt. If he's not playing it will obviously fall to someone else but he's proven this year that he's the driving force and the clear leader within the club.

See if McKay isn't happy, or any other player then they should head for one place and that's the exist. They have been nowhere near good enough this year to start pissing and moaning about training methods and days off. If they aren't prepared to put the work in and make themselves better players then "see ye later" is what I say.

There are plenty of fans already prepared to start questioning the manager, he's been in charge of 3 games. working with a squad he's inherited that we all know has been desperately put together. We've not had a consistent starting 11 since the first day of the season, reason being we don't have the right options. Far too many similar players who, if we're honest, aren't good enough to be earning the money they are or good enough to take the club where it should be.

Let the manager try and change things around without jumping on the "he's clueless" bandwagon and listening to hear say about players not being happy. There's a lot of work to be done and hopefully he's given money to spend because it's needed but to be spinning rumours of unhappy players and trying to put across a message that people don't have faith in the manager after this length of time is laughable.

I think people can look at the current situation from an outside/ neutral perspective and think it's all OK, decent, whatever. But anyone that goes to games, home and away and witnesses first hand the performances, stubbornness and lack of tactically ability can only come to the conclusion that it is time to seek an alternative to the management team we have.

Yes, they got us promoted last year but if you think back we had very little positive performances from Christmas onward. There's no point us talking about beating Celtic last year, the circumstances were so massively different but was no doubt a great day. We haven't felt that sense of achievement and pride since that result which is poor. When we win, we struggle to a win. I don't like calling for the head of a manager but I've seen us put in pathetic performances too many times since the league was won last year and watched a manager struggle to change games and fail to move us on to the next level in general.

He's a nice guy but cannot be there next season.

We were by far and away the better team, Hearts weren't interested in attacking, apart from a 40 yard rocket that hit the bar we were never in trouble.

Aside from scoring it was a controlled performance and we created 2 good opportunities that we should have taken. If one of them goes in it's a totally different game. A worry for me is the ability to break teams down in that kind of game, the longer it goes the more we run out of ideas. Dorrans was deeper as a result of them flooding the edge of their box, IMO, Pedro has to find ways of utilising Dorrans in that scenario and in turn he has to do more to influence the game from an attacking perspective. That will hopefully come in time.

It was the changes that worried me, I personally think Miller had to come off. He gives everything but he's no use in deeper positions. Morelos looks very good but he's going to need service and someone playing close to him, thought Hardie showed some promise but it's difficult for a young kid to come into that game.

I;m not calling for the managers head however he needs a very strong set of results in the next 4 games, particularly the next 3 league games before we play Celtic.

Warburton drilled it into him that he had to play as wide as he could (mostly on the left) that leads to what we already know:

1) he's not involved in open play anywhere near enough that we need to him

2) when in possession he's crossing with his left foot.

He needs to play centrally for me and to not test him there would be a shame because we all know he has ability, it's just finding the best way to utilise that ability. Two examples spring to mind, the game at the weekend because it was the most recent example. Some touch from a long ball, good skill and composure to finish from a central position and then the goal against them at Hampden last year. He's our number 10 for me without doubt, if he's played as a number 10.

I think talk of replacing Foderingham as number 1 is crazy at the moment. Agree we need quality competition if the younger guys aren't quite ready yet but I've liked what I've seen from Fods. Minus the Hibs incident a couple of weeks ago, which can happy to the best of goalkeepers in their careers, I've been really impressed. He has a great attitude in press conferences, conducts himself well and from a playing perspective has pulled of some really important saves and distributes the ball amazingly well. Proper competition for his place and a sturdier CB in front of him and we'll see him step it up a level.
