Anyone here remember a simpler time when we went a whole season playing 4-4-2 against everyone including the mhankies and still won everything? Never would Sir Walter or Graeme Souness have played one up front, I remember games where we played 4 forwards and 2 (proper box to box midfielders-Stuart McCall a prime example! ) but unless a man had been sent off there was not just one up front especially against them! These times may feel like a long time ago but they are not a distant memory, yes the style of the game may have changed but the aim is still the same-score more than them. it's simple and yesterday proved whilst we've come a long way we still have a long way to go. usually yesterday would've been a whitewash and these forums would be in uproar folk threatening each other's dugs the lot 😜but here we are the best fans in the world gracious in a defeat that could have been a lot worse! I can't help but think if we hadn't just got in amongst them a little bit more yesterday and niggled away that wee bit more we could've got the point or in a dreamland scored on a break away, big Lafferty with a belter into the top corner lol Yesterday wasn't the drubbing we have sadly become accustomed too and yes it was a defeat but the signs are there fellow bears 🇬🇧 Coulibaly was a big miss but we can't rely on a single player, yesterday may have been a defeat but it was also a step in the correct direction. I think the next Old Firm game at Ibrox will be a lot different and let's see how the smellies like it when they're launched at from the first whistle🇬🇧🔵⚪️🔴💙❤️.

Nonsense, Smith often played a 4-5-1. I remember seeing us play them with 1 up front and that one being McCulloch.

Smith loved a 1 striker formation. I remember fans crying out for us to go 2 up top.

3.) 03 Sep 2018 16:03:35
We played one up top under Smith all the way to a European Cup final.

Smith played with no actual striker at times. Times have changed and now most teams are three at the back with wing backs. Move on. We were well and truly outplayed. naïve in not playing to the whistle and lucky they forgot their shooting boots. Mind you we are obviously better than last year and still in Europe so I think things will only get better. The league is asque right now and will look much better come Christmas.

Wallace will be an excellent cover and an incentive to keep Barisic on his toes. also means the right footed Flanagan can move too his more natural right back positions meaning Tav needs to up his defensive side to his game or lose his place in the team. and yeah I know he’s the captain but teams should always be picked on ability and not sentiment👍🏻 Tbh tho whilst the debate and that’s good chaps I think In all honesty we should be rejoicing at this very moment because we have a management team who know what they’re doing, we have backroom staff we can trust and sorry to say it but as usual the board have came up with the goods to fund this revolution and we are 1 centre half away from having our best squad in a long, LONG time. let’s leave the bickering to the mhankies huh.

Hate to say it but it “ Fredo” is going to do silly things like that he will be picked up on them. imagine Scott Arfields pocket pal/ Lego muncher doing that we would be baying for his blood 🤷🏻‍♂️ Regardless, happy new year to all fellow bluenoses worldwide 🔵⚪️🔴.

We couldn’t really sign a worse right back as far as Tav is concerned so any new player could only be an improvement and if we sadly sold Morelos for a pretty penny then surely a punt on Shankland for a snip PLUS signing another proven striker to challenge Lafferty would be the option?

Katic has scored mostly this season from corners but he doesn’t seem to feature now for whatever reason but he was our main ariel threat at set pieces until he was dropped for Worral 🔵⚪️🔴.

Whilst I respect your opinion you can’t just leave our best player out in a big game like this. can I have some of what you’re smoking but it must be good you need to hook me up mate lol He would be my joint (lol) first name on the team sheet alongside Shagger, we don’t have the luxury of having another player who has his movement and his ability to hold up the ball either. the boy maybe has certain issues but he’s our top scorer and whilst he plays for us he is one of us and he has my backing 💯%.

When Dorrans is back a formation change to 4-2-3-1 would allow him to play behind Morelos. he’s always been an attacking midfielder from his Livingston days and coming from deep as he has to do in the 4-3-3, it doesn’t seem to suit him although he has scored a few goals before being injured. Played in his correct position he can be very effective. 🇬🇧.
