Candeias officially announced by the Turkish side, very disappointed, wish the lad all the best.

1.) 22 Jul 2019 15:59:53
Must say I’m sorry to see him go. We are letting one of our better players go and still stuck with Grezda Lafferty and co who won’t kick a ball. May be a chance for Dorrans to stay now as I believe there is a player there still.

2.) 22 Jul 2019 16:28:24

We got a few years service, we got our money back, he’s 31 now, 1 good game in 5, save £10k a week in wages, he didn’t seem sorry to leave, better players at the club now!

See yea mate.

3.) 22 Jul 2019 16:44:51
Anyone been onto Kerryfail to see exactly how much we got for him 😂😂

They know the exact ins and outs of our transfer dealings after all - f*cking clowns.

4.) 22 Jul 2019 17:04:09
Fraser Turkish media saying 600 euros. Also he was on 15 k a week
Blue moose, stop worrying grezda, lafferty holt etc will go.

5.) 22 Jul 2019 17:55:02
Anyone know what kind of money Candeias went for i would hope we got between 2.5 - 5mil for him but i feel it will probelly be lower.

6.) 22 Jul 2019 17:47:47
600k euros is absolutely dog rubbish money for a player who played 50+ games last year if true. I would have expected it to be more than double that amount there’s plenty money in turkey 🇹🇷 I know he wasn’t our best player by a long way but had a great understanding with Tavener.

7.) 22 Jul 2019 17:53:16
£500,000 and £15,000 weekly savings in wages sounds like decent bit of business. Will be interesting to see how Tav responds as Candeias did provide good defensive cover and support to him.

8.) 22 Jul 2019 18:00:40
2.5 - 5m?!

It’ll be closer to 500k mate.

9.) 22 Jul 2019 18:16:56
I wouldn’t have accepted anything less than £1m he’s worth at least that amount of anyone’s money.

10.) 22 Jul 2019 19:01:07
we didn't get our money back we got just over 400 Euros that's why the club didn't say what they got its in 2 Turkish blogs.

11.) 22 Jul 2019 19:05:14
Just read 2 French teams are after grezda. Candeias would've been a good squad player but was never going to be in our starting 11. Wish him all the best and if it's true he's on 15k a week it's a good move for us.

12.) 22 Jul 2019 21:54:45
Candeias won't be missed by the fans. He will, however, be massively missed by Tav and Morelos.

13.) 22 Jul 2019 21:56:51
If we, get 1 mill for grezda we will
Be lucky
Half a mill for the candy man was ok
But surely barisic if does leave
It will be 15 mill at least.

14.) 23 Jul 2019 09:47:32
We got 250k for candeias which i feel is shocking even with it being last year of his contract . We get left with lafferty and grezda and even greg stewart who is average at the best.

15.) 23 Jul 2019 10:20:37
Candeias going for a reported £250k is shocking. he must have either been desperate to get away or so far down the pecking order that SG didn't give a hoot.
how can we expect teams to take us seriously in terms of offers for our players when we let let one of the better ones (true flashes of brilliance - and outstanding speed) go for next to nothing. in england teams are paying 10 times that for 15 year olds.

18 Jul 2019 13:19:16
Also seen their that apparently Candeias is away back to Turkey.

1.) 18 Jul 2019 13:39:51
Translated from Turkish

"Super League teams Genclerbirligi last minute transfer development took place.

According to information obtained by Ajansspor; Gençlerbirliği has reached an agreement with right-wing player Daniel Candeias, who played for Glasgow Rangers.

Çaykur Rizespor'un also included in the agenda Candeias preferred the capital team because of the education status of children.

31-year-old Portuguese footballer played in Alanyaspor in 2016/ 17 season.

2.) 18 Jul 2019 13:40:19
Don’t see anything about candeias at all
Are you talking about some proposed transfer regarding g him?

3.) 18 Jul 2019 13:53:27
Bryan I predicted he was leaving three weeks ago along with Murphy. We r reducing wages to bring in three players I said.
I have no names but helander Would have been one.

4.) 18 Jul 2019 14:26:40
Ah see it been reported now - if true will there be a transfer fee involved no mention of it?

5.) 18 Jul 2019 14:36:45
Fair play to the lad. Wants to play week in week out at his age. won't get that at ibrox this season. Clear Gerrard sees him 2nd choice to Ojo. Would have been good back up player coming off the bench. If he's away good luck to him. Prob on a decent wage aswel.

6.) 18 Jul 2019 15:33:37
Hope there’s a decent fee involved. £2m I would say is fair.

7.) 18 Jul 2019 16:27:35
Daily record now reporting it aswell. No fee mentioned.

8.) 18 Jul 2019 17:49:39
Strange one for me. Been a steady wee player for us and you know what your getting with him, I'd hold fire until January, to ensure jones ojo etc going to deliver before we let candy man move on.

9.) 18 Jul 2019 18:00:15
Mistake letting DC go 100%.

10.) 18 Jul 2019 18:26:03
J-zer, totally agree. I've said before, the understanding that Candeias and Tav have is worth it's weight in gold, no just Tav, but the squad on general, shown perfectly by Ryan Jack last week with the goal against Marseille. For me, I wouldn't have changed last season's side as much as Gerrard has, I think it was finally clicking, especially with the latter more compact shape with Arfield playing of the front 3. We were in need of defensive reinforcement and an out and out no.10 which to be fair Davis has looked like in the last few games albeit he's been further back.

11.) 18 Jul 2019 18:58:45
hope candias stays but he was very up and down last season. Brilliant one game, missing in the next.

12.) 18 Jul 2019 19:00:17
Bryan you do realise when arfield went into front 3 it was Candieas that made way?

13.) 18 Jul 2019 20:42:50
Great player on his day but far too inconsistent in my opinion.

14.) 18 Jul 2019 21:48:48
As long as we get 1m+ for him I’d be happy anything less would be disappointing.

15.) 18 Jul 2019 23:18:06
It is candieas that wants to go. if that's the case cannot hold on to him.

16.) 18 Jul 2019 23:54:42
Not keen on him leaving at all
We need a decent squad and he gives us decent quality in the depth of the squad.

17.) 19 Jul 2019 00:22:24
Good luck to the guy, bought into what the club was all about and wore the badge with pride. Mr 110% tbh was going to find game time difficult this year so good move for him and for the club.

18.) 19 Jul 2019 05:24:24
Said for last 2 seasons that we cannot and will not win league with the right side was had (Candieas and Tav) now I think Tav has got better but still loses ball in high area too often. Candieas was just way too inconsistent. His delivery into the box was a one in ten and at the level we need to be at, that's not good enough. I hear all the time about his work rate, and while that is true (it being good), that should be a given as a Ranger.
So I won't be sorry to see him go.

19.) 19 Jul 2019 10:37:05
Apparently going by the 4 lads website £600.000 which is pretty poor considering today’s inflated prices.

20.) 19 Jul 2019 10:38:42
If daniel candeias is leaving for genclerbirligi, i wish the wee man nothing but the very best of luck. He has been a good winger for us over the last couple of seasons. He absolutely loves our club and wouldn't want to go, unless he has been told that his game time this season, will be very limited. He always did play for the rangers badge, on his chest.

21.) 19 Jul 2019 10:46:44
Heard he was sent to turkey to collect another batch of strips to sell in the pop up shop 😂.

22.) 19 Jul 2019 10:49:03
Candeias final ball is awful at times but other than that he is good at covering Tav when he gets forward and work his socks off with the high press forcing mistakes and turnovering possession for us.
With Ojo being utilised in both the 10 and on the Right I would have Candeias in squad all day long.

Would be less concerned if Murphy or Hastie were sold or loaned out (Hastie) as we have Jones and potentially Kent on left but what happens if Ojo looses form or gets injured? I know Hastie played on RM and cut in on left for Motherwell but I prefer DC and unless we have another RM/ W targeted as a replacement I wouldn’t sanction deal.
He is 31 and on last year of contract so no chance we would get £2m try £500k.

23.) 19 Jul 2019 10:50:14
I feel that if Candeias is to leave we will get between 3.5mil and 5mil. As that is about his value for his age.

24.) 19 Jul 2019 22:53:55
I love how some of you on here just ramble utter nonsense.

If Candeias had a perfect delivery 8 from 10 attempts, he would be a £20m player! He cost us 900k!

It’s the only thing he doesn’t possess. For the most part he has been a fabulous servant to Rangers. Energy, desire, work rate are impeccable. He’s a quiet lad off the field, he’s an example to younger squad. he's passionate when others are not. He’s been superb in Europe. By all accounts he's been great with Morelos. Seriously have a think, if every player had his attitude you would have a formidable team that would be incredibly hard to beat. If everyone worked like him against Aberdeen, Kilmarnock, Dundee and Hibs last year, we would have won the league.

So no he can’t cross the perfect ball every time, but he has so much more than others do.

All the best wee man, your a class act, you will be missed and you will always be a Ger.

18 Jul 2019 12:26:02
daily record reporting Liam Ridgewell to Rangers, apparently he says he's open to talks but only after finding out what our ambitions are lol. Away throw rubbish at the moon mate yer 34 and done.

1.) 18 Jul 2019 13:23:04
What's age got to do with it? Davis, Defoe, McGregor?

2.) 18 Jul 2019 13:46:50
All those players you mentioned are still producing at the top level and are a vital part of our team. It was more the comments he made rather than his age.

3.) 18 Jul 2019 17:45:52
Total non story. Was on talksport an was asked if he'd go to rangers because he's free. Just gave respectful response. There is no interest in him. Just press looking for a story when there is none.

11 Jul 2019 13:07:04
Hearing from a few people who work with the soccer schools that the Ryan Kent deal will be a permanent move, expected to be completed once Morelos deal is. To expect media announcement tommorow.

1.) 11 Jul 2019 13:29:50
Where do folk get this rubbish?

Juergen Klopp has decided he doesn’t want him going out on loan again.

2.) 11 Jul 2019 13:34:35
Bryan1978 If true. How much do you expect Rangers to sign Kent for.

3.) 11 Jul 2019 13:49:51
87shendo, i agree that the post is tom kite but the OP did say "will be a permanent move"

4.) 11 Jul 2019 13:50:40
Well he is no where worth the 12m quoted I'd expect around 5m but Rangers will not be signing him permanently.

5.) 11 Jul 2019 13:54:48
if true we’ll only have between 5-6m left after the roofe and Helander deals.

6.) 11 Jul 2019 13:54:52
Absolutely no idea mate, but if were spending 4m on a defender then I'm pretty confident that funds will be available once the Morelos deal is done.

7.) 11 Jul 2019 13:57:36
If true an lad sign a 3.4 yr deal will show how long stevie g might be here for he ain't signing players on 3.4 yr deals for nothing.

8.) 11 Jul 2019 15:06:40
cant say i'm overly keen on kent with players we have, unless its a perm one, then that would be different.
if alf goes then good luck to him.

9.) 11 Jul 2019 15:18:12
I agree with the Kent thing we have enough in our locker now and gaffer might want to strengthen elsewhere.

10.) 11 Jul 2019 15:47:35
@87shenderson you say the op talking rubbish then you churn the same rubbish the papers have been writing where has klopp stated he doesn’t want Kent out on loan again.

11.) 11 Jul 2019 19:14:26
Bear82, it’s all over the media that Klopp does not want Kent going on another loan!

SlimJim pointed out earlier I overlooked the OP regarding it being a permanent deal, still don’t see it happening though as 10-12m is to much for us!

12.) 12 Jul 2019 08:21:46
Bear82, just type Ryan Kent’s name into a search engine and you will easily find out that Liverpool have blocked loan deals from Rangers and Leeds.

As slimjim has already pointed out, I overlooked the OP saying about a permanent deal which looks like the only way RK will leave Liverpool.

05 Jul 2019 10:22:27

23 Jul 2019 06:19:29
Daily record saying the deal for Aribo cost us nearly 2m?

1.) 23 Jul 2019 08:11:49
Got him for a development fee mate was a pre contract. Was roughly 300/ 400k.

2.) 23 Jul 2019 08:44:53
Cross border compo to charlton and a nice signing on fee. A steal by the looks of things👍.

3.) 23 Jul 2019 09:29:38
I'd take what the Daily Record says with a pinch of salt.

4.) 23 Jul 2019 09:32:55
The daily record are incapable of telling the truth - the truth doesn’t sell.

I suspect they don’t have a clue and are guessing.

Even if he did cost £2m I think it’s still value but I’d be surprised if it was that much.

5.) 23 Jul 2019 09:45:05
Bryan. 300k compensation to charlton. We then gave the lad a significant signing fee.
I’d say good business as he will make us a fortune in two to three years.

6.) 23 Jul 2019 10:14:38
He was a free agent. Development fee was 300k max.

7.) 23 Jul 2019 10:16:22
don't believe everything the papers say.

22 Jul 2019 18:20:39
Sorry for bringing up this post again, but the more I think about it the more frustrated I am. Daniel Candeias was never the most consistent, but as has been mentioned on here, what he lacked in consistency he made up for with pure effort. The understanding him and Tav had was priceless, one which I think we'll suffer without.

Gerrard has brought in Ojo, and to be fair he arrived with plenty of backing, which he has showed with 2 good performances.

My problem with it is this, Ojo will never be a Rangers player, he is part of the relationship, not unlike Kent, we have with Liverpool, and that connection.

Have we sacrificed a player, that has fought tooth and nail for the last 2 years, for what is basically a short term solution? Only time will tell, but I think over the past 18 months it has shown that Gerrard has his own way of thinking and that nobody is safe.

I hope Ojo produces the goods and lives up to the hype, across the full season, I'll back him until he no longer wears the jersey.

1.) 22 Jul 2019 18:39:08
At 31 DC would only have been short term.

He was good, I liked his work rate and he could score a goal however, we need better in order to progress.

I’m not a big fan of loan players, we should be looking after our own first but I honestly think Ojo will be outstanding for us and score a load of goals this season.

2.) 22 Jul 2019 19:09:36
Brian1978 - my concern with Ojo is he appears to be a 1 trick pony - - bitof pace certainly but on his YouTube video and in every game so far he has tried the same trick to score a goal - edge of box, left foot curler into far side of the goal - - the last 2 teams and especially Blackburn shut him down fairly easily in my opinion. Given e is relatively young and is also going to be inconsistent, especially when the hammer throwers get hold of him!

3.) 22 Jul 2019 19:28:31
Bar72, I share the same concern mate, more than that though, he doesn't look like the type of player who is defensive minded, I keep going back to it but by losing Candeias, in my opinion, we lose that understanding and relationship with Tav, which has allowed for his assists and attacking threat. Time will tell as a say, I'll support the decisions Gerrard makes for our club.

4.) 22 Jul 2019 21:38:58
i really like DC, his back healer for Morelos, the goals he took during the pre-season were quality but he didn't do that everyday. i agree that the relationship with Tav was commendable but that's what should happen in every team. know what the other player is thinking before he kicks the ball to ensure you move into the space that he wants you too. BF was a genius at it just unfortunately some of his team mates didn't have the same footballing mind and fans thought it was a wayward pass. however i am sure that they will be working on relationships every training session.

22 Jul 2019 10:35:09
Folks just a quick question. Was yesterday the 1st time Davis has worn number 10?

1.) 22 Jul 2019 11:31:21
No, he took the number 10 when he returned in January.

2.) 22 Jul 2019 12:46:38
Never noticed until yesterday Steve10, didn't have my glasses on to be fair lol.

21 Jul 2019 17:39:27
I'll repeat myself again, Daniel Candeias is our best option on the right hand side, Ojo offers pave, but today it showed his workrate is nowhere near what is required.

1.) 21 Jul 2019 18:18:20
Not for long he's not as he will be offski shortly. Personally i think were better 1st 11 without him.

2.) 21 Jul 2019 19:00:23
Ojo offers pave but wee Danny can mono block like a gang of travellers.

3.) 21 Jul 2019 20:49:06
Ojo was howling today as was barasic. How people think we don't need kent is beyond me. Murphy doesn't look great, too soon for hastie who should prob go out on loan with middleton. Jones looks good but he is not as good as kent👍.

4.) 21 Jul 2019 22:35:20
Remember Kent was not good all the time and also remember it was a friendly as our season hasn’t started yet and remember these games are played so that our players can get match fit.

5.) 21 Jul 2019 22:40:11
Kent had his fair share of games missing aswel coldo. his 6 assists or whatever kinda prove that. Although i would like him back.

6.) 21 Jul 2019 23:24:59
Kent only started to come good the last 15 games of the season Have to agree thought the form he did show in those games I reckon he's better them the lot of our wingers with Czndeias being 2nd best My opinion of course.

7.) 22 Jul 2019 08:13:46
I fear Ojo is going to be more Ejaria than Kent. Not convinced by him at all at this point. Think he might be another Worrall where we are all desperate for him to be dropped but Stevie G keeps playing him because of some loan clause. Hope I’m wrong!

8.) 22 Jul 2019 09:49:07
I'd give the players the benefit of the doubt, it was a preseason friendly. Would Kent improve the first team squad? Definitely but he had his fair share of games where he was 'Howling' last season.

09 Jul 2019 17:45:40
I understand it's early in the squads preparation, but what I've seen so far. Has Jordan Jones got a left foot? he's playing on the left but turns inside everytime. Barîsîc should not be anywhere near the 1st team, his lack of passion shows as it did last season. We've missed Candeias and his partnership with Tav, why is Barîsîc taking corners on the right hand of the pitch? To me the team looks disjointed, as I said, down that left hand side there seems to be no options of attack with Barîsîc and Jones looking to turn back and play a square ball.

1.) 09 Jul 2019 18:22:26
what do you think Bryan, just write the season off?

2.) 09 Jul 2019 18:43:00
Aw come on, I've made an observation, if you disagree then try and construct a sentence. My opening sentence was I understand it's early, Jones never crossed a ball with his left foot the entire time he was on the park. Barîsîc did come onto a decent game with the delivery but it looks an area of the parks against better opposition, where we'd struggle. Ojo looks in a different league as does kamara and Davis. I thought Defoe looked a little of the pace, Morelos looks like he's had 2 weeks in KFC but so did boyd for years. I hope we can get Kent because I don't think Jones is the answer.

3.) 09 Jul 2019 18:44:43
first competitive game of the season, it was a slow start but winning 4-0. Maybe a bit early to be having a go at players bryan1978?

4.) 09 Jul 2019 18:56:07
Bryan try not to worry pet. Strolled to a 4-0 win, 2nd game of pre season on a difficult pitch. Everyone played well, no injuries, no red cards.

Let’s chill.

5.) 09 Jul 2019 18:59:35
We win 4 nil and you're critical?

6.) 09 Jul 2019 19:01:52
Still in pre season 4_ 0 on an artificial pitch will do me. Plenty of time to tweek things.

7.) 09 Jul 2019 19:05:07
Sell them all! Sack the manager! No progress since niderkorm and pedro in a Bush!

8.) 09 Jul 2019 19:05:25
think your eating humble pie bud.

9.) 09 Jul 2019 19:06:17
Aye Barisic is hopeless?
Taxi for Bryan1978!😂.

10.) 09 Jul 2019 19:15:15
Bryan did you wait until half time or stop watching the game just to write players off before 1 game completed.

11.) 09 Jul 2019 19:19:42
Yeah not much else I can add but I echo the comments above.

12.) 09 Jul 2019 19:21:58
Bryan first half poor second halfmuch better, lot off work required going forward.
I like barisic great cross for jack also free kick excellent, he will do fine or make us a few quid.

13.) 09 Jul 2019 19:29:44
Just to confirm, my initial comment was made at half time, if anyone wants to disagree that Barîsîc is a liability then please feel free to reply. Also, my comment about Jones, he has no left foot, but gets played on the left of the park. 2nd half tav took set pieces which produced 2 goals. If I'm going to get slated for pointing out facts then what's the point. Overall a good performance, as I said early days, but for me Jordan Jones and Barîsîc are not Rangers class.

14.) 09 Jul 2019 19:33:14
I knew I'd take some stick after posting my initial post just after half time lol, Barîsîc did play well second half, produced a decent ball for Jack and his free kick was quality, but my view stays the same, he looks laboured going forward, looks for the back pass everytime and doesn't seem to have any understanding with Jones.

15.) 09 Jul 2019 19:33:27
Can i shout this CANDIEAS IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH. OJO WILL BE 1ST PICK IN THAT SPOT AND RIGHTLY SO. although opposition was poor can see he's class.

16.) 09 Jul 2019 19:47:16
Barasic will find his feet this season and be out 1st choice left back. Surely can't be croatia 1st choice LB and kept out team from flanagan or halliday haha.

17.) 09 Jul 2019 20:03:57

18.) 09 Jul 2019 20:10:10
Candieas isn't good enough. He started to get phased out tail end last season. If jones turns out poor Jamie murphy will slot in. Candieas can't cross the road. Ojo will play right. Candyman can slot in if injuries etc.

19.) 09 Jul 2019 20:26:20
Bryan, Stirling plays in the left for Man City and is right footed Silva on right and is left footed. Salah plays on the right for Liverpool and is left footed, Mane plays on the left and is right footed. modern football. In Gerrard we trust!

20.) 09 Jul 2019 21:20:34

21.) 09 Jul 2019 21:55:43
What Bryan isn’t understanding here is the tactics that we are deploying. As mentioned above, look at the way Liverpool set up (and if you haven’t noticed by now, surprise surprise, Gerrard is using the same set up) they play with a 433 rather than 451. The two supporting forwards play as inside left and right and as mentioned the one on the right is left footed, the one on the left, right footed. The idea is when in possession they drive inwards to either help over load the oppositions centre backs, shoot with their stronger foot, or draw the fullback in, thus creating space for our overlapping fullbacks.

Previously under warburton and Pedro we played 451 with wingers who went wide and threw deep crosses in to our loan striker which were easily dealt with by opposition centre backs. It is clear this is what Gerrard has been working towards. By the end of last season it was working well. This also allows us to play with 3 more solid midfielders and negates the need for an attacking midfielder to support the loan striker as much. This in turn makes us more solid in defence and hopefully will stop us leaking silly goals. It’s the exact tactics Liverpool use. and they just won the champions league doing so!

Brian I'm just a wee bit curious if u are on the wind up stating that barasic and Jones should be linking up like they have played together for years give them a bit more time.

Thought barisic was excellent don't know what game u watched. Scored one, set up one n was up n down all game long. Reminded me of the barisic who played us last year, fingers crossed.

Read gaffers interview and everything he says in article pretty spot don’t know about Ojo statement but what l saw we look pretty dam good a few tweaks here and there and couple of new faces we’re going to pretty hard to beat and play entertaining football.

Bryan you will have a problem with hastie as well then as he is left footed and likes to play in the right.

1st competitive game and you are moaning already and we won 4-0 honestly what is wrong with people.

aye barisic is rubbish. Just a clean sheet a goal and an assist. good one 😂.

Are you actually greying about Borna’s set pieces in a game in which he stuck a free kick in the bag?

J-zer, totally agree. I've said before, the understanding that Candeias and Tav have is worth it's weight in gold, no just Tav, but the squad on general, shown perfectly by Ryan Jack last week with the goal against Marseille. For me, I wouldn't have changed last season's side as much as Gerrard has, I think it was finally clicking, especially with the latter more compact shape with Arfield playing of the front 3. We were in need of defensive reinforcement and an out and out no.10 which to be fair Davis has looked like in the last few games albeit he's been further back.

All those players you mentioned are still producing at the top level and are a vital part of our team. It was more the comments he made rather than his age.

I posted yesterday regarding this. My worry is that he sees Flanagan or Polster as a replacement. In terms of how much it would take to replace him like for like, you could find a diamond in the rough for 200k or spend big ( 4 to 6m ) realistically, on a player who fails to impress.

I'm sure it was Kamara who cost the goalz who imo was horrendous when he came on.

I see wolves could be a potential next round, that would be one i'd love to see in terms of where we are, they've spent a fortune and could be a real test.
