Can i just pose a wee question to my fellow bears out there? How many of you think that Tav would make an outstanding attacking RM?

Buddyblue

1.) 20 Dec 2018 17:18:14
Not for me. final ball more a bit hit or miss.
Unfortunately more miss.

2.) 20 Dec 2018 17:28:39
His delivery is shocking and part of an attacking RM is to cover the RB. As good as it sounds it just wouldnโ€™t work.

3.) 20 Dec 2018 18:24:59
I think Tav is a great RWB glad he's playing that for us.

4.) 20 Dec 2018 19:23:57
He's not.

5.) 20 Dec 2018 22:31:07
here here frustrated blue! i was going to reply the exact same ๐Ÿ˜‚.

6.) 21 Dec 2018 09:04:39
Delivery nowhere near good enough so not for me.

I thought this game was going to be close folks but we dominated almost from the start. We seem to single out particular players as an excuse for not winning but the fact of the matter is we can't score goals. Our midfield are not creative enough but are defensive and solid if that was the style we required. For me, we need a CF with a Hately style and at least 2 attacking midfielders who can burst into the box and have a go. We are SO close but just lack some essential qualities to put teams away.

Tactics were bang on last night just the quality and decision making were poor. Very frustrating game. They did defend well and their keeper had a great night, officials got a lot wrong but that's not why we didn't win, we really should have pissed that.

2.) 20 Dec 2018 10:32:30
I text my mate last night and told him I think we may be under estimating how good SG actually is. Is it the players that can't implement the game plan? Last 2 games the scores could have been silly if we had that killer touch.

3.) 20 Dec 2018 12:21:04
Geared up for some counter attacking football last night but problem is we've got players who can't counter. Need to work on some quick one touch stuff as our players are slower than a week in the jail at getting that ball in the business end. Too many touches!

4.) 20 Dec 2018 20:25:33
Lads we look to be struggling to have the capability to have a player run onto a ball and hammer it towards goal from outside the box. Albertz style the MF look out of steam when they get to the edge of the opposition box.

I know Arfield from his time at Burnley and know a bit about the deal he was offered and apparently it was more than he was on at Burnley. The chairman of Burnley Mike Garlic thought he was just about past his best. I like SA would run through a brick wall for the badge.

But, I am not sure he is the player he once was Tav and Bara over the free kicks. I would have liked to see Bara take one or two he puts in some decent balls. Tav needs to step back let someone elseโ€™s try.

5.) 20 Dec 2018 20:30:12
Couldn't understand gerrards subs. We were dominating the game yet he stuck with 3 def mids? He took grezda off who had whittaker in his back pocket!? Candieas slowed the tempo everytime. He should have took off candieas and coulibaly for middleton and lafferty, with all our domination it would have been more attacking๐Ÿ‘.

6.) 20 Dec 2018 21:26:13
Coldco, wrong as you can only use three subs. His first two subs were to replace the injured Arfield and McCauley.

7.) 21 Dec 2018 10:12:45
Wrong again jboy, he didn't have to take mccauley off to begin with. that's why its hard to understand his subs.

11 Dec 2018 07:25:42
Hi folks. I agree that tinkeing with the central defence partnership is not a great idea and leaking stupid goals only supports my view. I really think that Tav needs to pushed into right midfield and a strong, no nonsense right back brought in. Tav spends most of the game naturally in this area and the problems arise when he has to rush back. Davis back at ibrox is not a great future plan but its what we need right now. Thoughts?

Buddyblue

1.) 11 Dec 2018 08:19:07
if it stops the manky mob winning title get davis back, davis is still better in what we have.

2.) 11 Dec 2018 08:27:43
Tav is an excellent rb. He has always been good offensively, but since a few wobbles earlier, his defensive qualities have definitely improved.

Think you'll find it's left or left centre that the defensive frailties are appearing.

3.) 11 Dec 2018 09:45:01
I still believe Wallace should be deployed at LB.

4.) 11 Dec 2018 11:27:58
Iโ€™ve said before the Gaffer needs two more windows positive thing is we have improved and guys on here have said itโ€™s a totally different playing for us than the rest patients.

5.) 11 Dec 2018 12:00:20
Barasic is back now and will probably be starting from now onwards.

6.) 11 Dec 2018 16:33:11
I think Tav in a right midfield permanent position would give us more options in an area that is quite obviously lacking offensive ability. Barasic is back at LB and I really do think we need to stop leaking goals guys. Davis in January is a good SHORT term solution and we all know he plays for the jersey.

7.) 11 Dec 2018 16:35:32
Davis is 34 in January, Rangers could get 3 good years out of him, 34 is certainly not old, very experienced player and easy too pay as heโ€™s a millionaire already, just loves Rangers.

8.) 11 Dec 2018 16:39:08
Mols73 can't agree Tav is "an excellent RB" his positional sense at times is woeful causes one of CBs to cover his position leaving gaps thru middle don't want him sold only my opinion ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘.

9.) 11 Dec 2018 17:44:33
Flanagan is a no nonsense RB. And he's a full nonsense LB.

10.) 13 Dec 2018 17:06:01
i think its time the management team ie Gerard and co have a step back and ask themselves some questions like do we need to change the team so often or who is our strongest central defenders, do we have enough technical players for midfield to stop last weeks game going the way it did when we ran out of ideas, sometime a look at yourself helps a ton.

11.) 13 Dec 2018 17:17:59
I would like to see Flannagan played at RB for a few games to see if he can excel in his natural position. I love what Tav brings to Rangers but feel he could be an outstanding attacking midfielder long term. I am very pleased with our position in the league but we are in serious danger of making a right hash of it if we don't make necessary changes. Onward the mighty Rangers. ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง.

09 Nov 2018 13:38:54
I think if we look at our defence, using last nights game as an example, we are what we are. Simply not good enough, or confident enough to close out games. Tav is great at running forward but not a great defender at right back. Flannagan is simply being played out of position and Katic seems to have lost his mojo since being dropped. SG need to look at the midfield and install a strong go forward mentality. Too much sand dancing folks and not enough playmaking. We all know what's missing but finances will be a hurdle for us for a wee while to come.

Outstanding result yesterday fellow bretheren. I was a bit worried when we took foot of the gas and started to give them space to play. However, homework was done and the league leaders were well and truly taught a lesson. Team effort was solid and the Morelos goal was cheeky class. Confidence oozing from the wee man now so long may it continue. I've been saying for years to dip the German market for players. Brilliant week's work. We are the people ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง.

Buddyblue

1.) 08 Oct 2018 08:17:45
Morelos came from Finland, not Germany?

2.) 08 Oct 2018 08:56:17
and he's Columbian lol.

3.) 08 Oct 2018 11:51:56
I might be wrong but I don't think a single player we have came from Germany.

4.) 08 Oct 2018 13:13:13
Jordy I think you are right there! No one in our squad has come from the Bundesliga, although I do understand Buddyblue's sentiment because the German market is an afforable one for us and they have some cracking players. Nonetheless, Morelos came from Helsinki.

5.) 08 Oct 2018 16:13:00
Apologies for the way I worded this one guys. What I meant to say is that I would Like SG to dip into the german market in January. Good strong league and players seem to adapt the the Scottish style without too much fuss. Hope this clears that one up and apologies for the wording. Anyhoo, anyone agree with my thoughts on the German market for players?

6.) 08 Oct 2018 21:12:22
Ryan Kent spent 1st part of last season in Germany with freiburg.

7.) 08 Oct 2018 22:46:51
Fair doos chief, the German market does have plenty of good, technical, intelligent footballers. We definitely need an actual attacking midfielder, one that can play that killer pass to take defenders out the game. Most of our CM'S can tackle and pass a ball there is no doubt but I never expect any of them to really drive forward beat a man and crack one from long range. Don't get me wrong I know a good one of those will set you back quite a bit, but I feel that's really the only thing our team is missing, so yeah Germany, Scandinavian countries, Croatia decent places to look for such a gem.

8.) 09 Oct 2018 07:03:53
I feel exactly the same way jordy15. Our midfield is all about holding and passing at present. If we can grab another striker and a good strong attacking midfielder who fancies a dig from 20 yards I think SG will have a cracking squad that can go anywhere confidently and take back this league where we belong. ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง.

9.) 09 Oct 2018 15:43:43
Not sure BuddyB. I'm not convinced we can afford much from the big 5 leagues.
I think the best bargains are to be found in eastern Europe like Katic, Barasic and Grezda. hopefully they will all kick on.
On the subject of players from countries that adapt well, I think we have to look at Holland.

Most players do well that have played there.
From way back when Aberdeen bought Snelders and Gilhaus, through the period of the De boer and Mols etc. Not forgetting Larsson for them. More recently VVD for them.

I read that Dundee would be looking to cash in on him now, rather than wait until the summer and get nothing for him. Hope he comes in NOW as I like the look of him and think he is exactly what we are looking for in this team set up.

Couldnt agree more mate. The signing of Kamara will be another great piece of business. I've watched the videos of this guy and he really does look the part in Midfield.

Buddyblue

{Ed0333's Note - I donโ€™t see many club owners in China, USA or Turkey queuing up for a 36 year old Defoe, got to be honest.

Rangers played brilliant last night against a team that blootered Celtic at the weekend. We ate them up but the answer is there for all to see. WE can't SCORE GOALS! Why does SG have Candias tracking back every time Tav goes forward? Candias is a great attacking threat on his own, so why not get solid right back, push Tav into right midfield and give Candias a chance at running at defences again. Thought we were awesome and should have won. ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง.

I think the German market is best suited to our physical game in Scotland. i'd like a solid CF and perhaps a RB with Tav pushed into midfield.

I won't miss Ejaria in rhe slightest. Rare flashes of class and always backs out from tackles. Looked not bad in European games because he had more time on the ball. The Dundee game sums it all up for me about his ability. No harm to the lad and thanks for his contribution to the Rangers fight. Can we bring Mr Davis into that position and finally get a strong midfielder who can tackle as well as go forward?

He is listed to be a defensive midfielder but I've spent a few weeks watching his videos and he looks a very fast and strong midfielder. He takes men on and sprays the ball around with considerable accuracy. He looks a steal in my opinion and i think he would not hesitate to burst into the box with a shot at goal. Things are starting to take shape and SG's new additions are looking ideal for a league title challenge. ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง.

Kamara is an exciting fast midfielder and is at ease with the ball at his feet. Loves to attack and take men on at any given chance. As a Rangers player in the current line up, he is exactly the type of attacking midfielder that sets games alight. Get him in ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง.

Our midfield seem to hesitate just outside the box in almost every attacking situation. I wwas at the Hamilton game and that was exactly what happened because they had no Morelos to give the ball to. Urgently need another physical striker.

I actually like Grezda but I don't see a 25 yarder coming from him. He is constantly looking for balls to be played into open areas and it sometimes looks as if he is 2 passes ahead of his team mates. Need some quick footed players with goal hungry attitudes.

Ive watched arfield lately guys and I think he is tiring early during games. He seems to be doing his best but he is not a regular goal threat. Plays his heart out though.
