Reading we are in advanced talks to sign Leighton baines from Everton . Age 34 but should do well up in Scotland .

1.) 01 Jun 2019 09:32:33
Saw a lot of speculation on FF about this. 4ladshadadream were also looking at it last night.

Probably bias as Everton are my English team but think he would do a job for a season would be another good pro to have in the dressing room aswell the young lads would learn a thing or two.

Might not have played much last season but that was largely down to silva not favouring him with the signing of Lucas digne when called upon still Mr Reliable.

What he may now lack in pace - intelligence experience and deadball delivery which is at least on a par with tav if not better.

Would be worth a punt if the wages were reasonable. He’s a self confessed toffee but the chance to win some silverware before drawing a close to his career might swing it.

2.) 01 Jun 2019 10:00:56
I actually think he'd do well up here. Not sure about wages though.

3.) 01 Jun 2019 11:18:31
He’s been a great professional throughout his career, I’d just love Barisic to show what he did when he played against us at the start of the season.

4.) 01 Jun 2019 12:02:47
Even at 34 years old now, if leighton baines is injury free and over all his injuries then its an absolute no brainer for me, to sign him for a couple of years. If we did sign a still quality left back like him,
then i've got no doubt he'd be our no.1 left back for the next couple of years. Like I said earlier, as long as he's injury free. Baines is a terrific professional and barisic could do a lot worse than take a leaf out of his book.

5.) 01 Jun 2019 13:45:01
I posted this rumour a while ago and got slaughtered. Would be good but i would prefer to go out and get young taylor from killie.

6.) 01 Jun 2019 16:04:02
plenty folk on here in favour of baines signing, yet then slaughter any mention of a return for hutton.

they are both 34

the latter has also played far more football in last 2 years

i’m not saying either are ideal but a bit of perspective please hutton’s been a great servant for villa.

7.) 01 Jun 2019 17:16:22
Trev i think should tav go hutton could do a job for a season but would like to us build a team for years to come. Would sign turnbull from motherwell, taylor from killie and souttar from hearts. All 3 are types of players we need and way cheaper than cpuld get from down south or abroad.

8.) 01 Jun 2019 17:50:52
Baines is very good. Keeps himself fit, doesn't get many cards and is a good lad to have in the dressing room. What's not to like? I know he"s 34 but the experience he would bring could be invaluable.

9.) 01 Jun 2019 18:03:46
Wouldn't mind Bains at Ibrox. Very possible we could sign him. Gerrard, our fans and European football is a huge attraction. Oh and Defoe.

10.) 01 Jun 2019 18:40:08
If tav goes baines can take the pens.

11.) 01 Jun 2019 18:54:03
Baines and Hutton would both be Upgrade’s on what we have at the moment.

12.) 01 Jun 2019 19:17:33
I’ll be shocked if this happens, he would have to take a massive drop in wages! Defoe situation is different as he’s still very well paid by both clubs .

13.) 01 Jun 2019 21:07:37
Doubt any truth. Just another random rumour.

14.) 01 Jun 2019 21:11:22
Baines and Hutton would be an upgrade on what we have the now Your deluded mate They have experience I give you that Baines is injury prone and Hutton is terrible at dwf2nsing don't give me that I'd agree 5 year ago both would be an upgrade! Not buying that now.

15.) 01 Jun 2019 22:59:29
I agree Kaz. Signing these guys is taking us backwards. I know we need to stop 9-10 in a row but if bears fans think signing guys like this will stop it then they are delusional.

16.) 02 Jun 2019 08:54:23
Barisic will come good. He's a Croatian international!
Taylor, Lose and th he Golden oldies mentioned aren't good enough.

17.) 02 Jun 2019 09:31:06
to stop 9 in a row who would YOU like us to sign As1974?

18.) 02 Jun 2019 15:25:13
My best mate works for Everton in their Recruitment department.

He says Baines is waiting to see if Everton will offer him an extension before he looks elsewhere.

19.) 02 Jun 2019 21:59:42
Here's something for you all to ponder on - our team plays a system with attacking full backs with pace and energy as an integral part of that - and Baines cannot run any more. How can anyone possibly see him as a potential asset?

20.) 03 Jun 2019 15:32:34
If we sign Shankland then it's an embarrassment to our club how on earth are we going to stop 10 in a row with these ridiculous signings our recruitment so far has been shocking Stewart Hastie Jones on a pre contract and linked with players like Shankland Brophy Max Lowe it's terrible we need quality game changers not average mediocre players Mark Allen needs to get finger out and get better than this and board need to make a significant financial investment again because we seem to be shopping in bargain basement again.

21.) 03 Jun 2019 16:35:49
who SHOULD we be trying to sign stiv65?

22.) 03 Jun 2019 20:35:23
Better than what we have simple answer or are you another one who thinks Stewart Jones Hastie ate going to set Heather on fire let's get real here.

23.) 03 Jun 2019 21:01:08
No those boys wouldn't be my first choice but I believe our manager knows more about football than me, so I'll support them and him.

24.) 04 Jun 2019 10:57:15
Alan f****ng Hutton - i swear to god, this rumour is on here every year since he left. He was and still is absolute p***, except now he's passed-it too. It was a gift from the gods at the time, when they paid £9 million for someone who was an under-performing squad player at best, who had just had 3 good games. Is Rino Gattuso going to come back to play in midfield? How about Lovenkrands and that slovakian guy who was on loan when we were in Division 2? Honestly, i despair.

05 Aug 2018 20:36:11
I read that Croatia football news have confirmed tonight that borna Barisic is indeed considering a move to us, hence why he was left out of squad today .

1.) 05 Aug 2018 21:59:06
I hope so, Barasic looked excellent over the 2 legs against us, would be a fantastic signing.

2.) 05 Aug 2018 22:29:04
This would be amazing defence would be solid am feeling pretty confident this year a think we will go close.

07 Jan 2018 15:16:09
Hearing wee nacho novo has taken a heart attack in Germany . Anyone heard this?

1.) 07 Jan 2018 15:34:48
Its been confirmed in the media

2.) 07 Jan 2018 15:36:42
Yeah the wee man has been taken to hospital where he underwent immediate surgery! Get well soon wee man🙏

3.) 07 Jan 2018 18:31:32
Lets all wish wee nacho well and a fast and speedy recovery ( get well soon we fella)

28 Oct 2015 15:36:13
I'd like to see us go in for Hibs' Jason Cummings in January, he looks a decent player. Plus its about time we riled Big Stubbs again!

1.) 28 Oct 2015 15:46:51
I was thinking the same thing in the last window, all the talk about Allan, but Cummings was leagues top scorer.

2.) 28 Oct 2015 20:36:22
cummings is a smarmy wee git!
destined for sceptic
plus he is always in trouble so i'd take a pass.

3.) 29 Oct 2015 07:27:40
I agree with KronicBear, very decent player but has a reputation as being trouble, Drinking with underage girls at house party's isn't the type of lad I want to represent Rangers.

4.) 29 Oct 2015 09:41:41
I think he is Celtic class, in the same mould (e) as Riordan and Griffiths. Best left alone.

5.) 29 Oct 2015 15:57:59
Ignoring his trouble making reputation he is now where near the level of player we should be looking at. Look at the number of chances he missed against us last season for a start.

6.) 29 Oct 2015 20:29:23
Big wow, the boy missed a couple of chances against U. S. and he's got a bad guy reputation!? So what good teams need some players who are off the cuff a bit instead of 11 choirboys! Luigi you say he's not the class you expect us to go in for? Who you expecting? Boy wouldn't cost much and he's young with bags of scope and scores goals.

7.) 30 Oct 2015 10:14:35
Please no! after the way Hibs jumped in to bed with celtic over the Scott Allan fiasco we should never line their pockets ever again.

8.) 30 Oct 2015 13:55:49
Omg Cummings for Rangers lol not a chance, do we really want to challenge Celtic or do we want to turn into a average Scottish club, because look at Celtic their turning into Dundee United we must buy a better class of player or get used to not winning cups anymore.

9.) 31 Oct 2015 19:24:27
Djab he's absolutely bogging. Wouldn't touch him with a barge pole.

10.) 01 Nov 2015 07:39:12
"Big wow" LOL not heard that since I was about 12. Gave me a chuckle.

09 Aug 2015 21:24:06
My mate just texted me to say he was speaking to SCOTT ALLAN in sauna tonight at the gym, and he told him hibs will let him go to rangers if we stump up what they are looking for. He didn't ask or he didn't say what fee that would be.

1.) 10 Aug 2015 08:24:19
Which gym was this that he was in then?

2.) 10 Aug 2015 10:30:40
It was at Virgin Active in Hamilton last night.
100% TRUE.

3.) 10 Aug 2015 11:02:11
Hope you're right. Did he say if he would wait until next year to join us if we don't stump up the cash now?
Think the more we dither, the more chance of him accepting an offer elsewhere.

4.) 10 Aug 2015 11:47:53
This is hilarious. A laughable source who claimed to be 'in the know' but actually got everything wrong made EXACTLY the same claim to me on Twitter - that he'd had a chat with Scott Allan in a sauna and the player had professed his desire to join.

There's also the comedy story that Allan agreed a number of weeks ago to join Celtic and met with Deila.

The amount of BS being made up to keep this story alive is disheartening.

5.) 10 Aug 2015 16:36:12
Why is Scott Allan going to be attending and paying money regardless of price to go to a gym when he has a free gym to work out at Hibs?

6.) 10 Aug 2015 17:14:02
I hope he did not have his phone in the sauna with him. Not good for electronics, all that moisture.

7.) 11 Aug 2015 13:43:37
Manson04 my mate plays with falkirk but still goes to the local gym, saves them droving 30+mins round trip to go to a gym

I see Celtic agree fee with Motherwell for young lad Turnbull . I feel we should have been looking at this boy . Time will tell if we have made a mistake by missing out .

1.) 12 Jun 2019 19:05:51
Disappointed if he winds up there.

2.) 12 Jun 2019 19:18:39
I am maybe jumping the gun here but could this mean that Joe Aribo has chosen to sign for Rangers. A better player at a fraction of the cost. I hope so.

3.) 12 Jun 2019 19:20:08
50k for Kamara
3 mil for Turnbull.
I know who I’d pick every day of the week.
But as you said time will tell.

4.) 12 Jun 2019 19:54:22
Tell you what if they are to play turnbull instead of rogic i would take that every day of the week. he's to us what lovenkrands or albertz was to them.

5.) 12 Jun 2019 20:07:28
Totally in agreement with Abomb1982 on this one. Although i rate young david turnbull, i totally trust gerrard in obviously choosing joe aribo over david turnbull. This is now clearly obvious and rangers rate aribo a better attacking midfielder than david turnbull, simple as that guys. We can't sign all the midfielders we're linked to.

6.) 12 Jun 2019 20:21:44
Blue89 I see your point but money for Turnbull Vs what we paid for grezda? Works both ways mate.

And Our no one has said that at all, remember to pick up your reading glasses after your lie down .

7.) 12 Jun 2019 20:46:23
As much as i think young turnbull is a good midfielder, tell me fellow bears who would you drop from our current midfield, to play him? My straight and frank answer to that is i'd drop nobody, as he's not good enough to get into our starting midfield.

8.) 12 Jun 2019 21:39:17
Why wouldn’t celtic pay that fee for McGinn lol but do it for turnbull. Turnbull like the rest of young Scottish players that end up there will get lost in their reserves and forgotten about.

9.) 12 Jun 2019 22:25:56

Maybe when you you finish your primary school education you will not feel the need to pore through the comments on a forum for a team you do not support.

All your Hahas and lols do make you appear to be a bit childish. Are you sure you are not Timalloy in disguise or does he just pass on his Beano to you when he is finished looking at all the pictures?

10.) 12 Jun 2019 22:28:05
Our midfield is flying . don’t disrupt it for anything . bring it on.

11.) 12 Jun 2019 22:44:25
We could certainly afford him Lh however it would be a decent chunk of our budget gone on a guy who wouldn’t be a guaranteed starter. We have priorities elsewhere in the team and hopefully we’ll spend our money wisely this year!

12.) 12 Jun 2019 23:24:15
Lh86 usual green tinted no one said aribo is better than Turnbull abomb said he Hope's he turns out better and from what I'm reading from the rest is that SG clearly rates Aribo over Turnbull and where u getting can't afford check out the past 4 transfer windows Rangers have match and out spent your mob.

Celtic 3 mill on a players is that liewell spending some of the cash he saved on employing a second rate manager
Also if you look through your own rumours site a lot of your own fans clearly rated Aribo.

I'm quite happy your team have signed this boy because imo that was an area on the park where your team are strongest. So it 3 mill less in your budget to improve the areas that really need improving ie CH, full backs and a striker.

13.) 12 Jun 2019 23:59:07
well you wouldn’t know aribo if you bumped into him in the street either timmy so how do you know aribo ain’t any better

think you are maybe getting wee bit confused

seems to me Kamara at 50k as a full international who ran rings round lego is a far better player than 3m from
an unproven teenager from bottom 6

but whatever makes you feel better.

14.) 13 Jun 2019 00:27:04
Looks a player but centre mid isn't somewhere we need to be strengthening money would be better spent on other positions.

15.) 12 Jun 2019 23:58:30
Lh86 doesn't really matter if we could or could not afford him we've got the best midfielder in Scotland in Glen kamara who made a laughing stock out of Scott brown Lol .

16.) 13 Jun 2019 01:08:43
Turnbull will be the new Scott allan.

17.) 13 Jun 2019 01:46:10
if its a competition of highlight reels then aribo wins hands down.

18.) 13 Jun 2019 05:39:47
Trev no7 is spot on. Glen kamara made an absolute a**e of the lego muncher and the rest of their midfield, in the old firm game. As did scotty arfield who lego muncher just can't handle or get near. Our midfield area is currently superb, so why pay £3million on another midfielder, who won't get into our starting 11.That dough is much needed, on other positions within our team.

19.) 13 Jun 2019 10:00:30
Well said Coop.

20.) 13 Jun 2019 10:43:14
the reason rangers didn't sign turnbull is because you can't afford to spend the money, you have got a bargain in kamara but they don't come along to often, mean while celtic can spend money when they want to.

21.) 13 Jun 2019 11:21:46
They will prob loan him back to Motherwell, he will then be available to play against everyone except them. A daft rule Celtic use well.

22.) 13 Jun 2019 11:25:00
dillits care to show me anything official that states we where in for Turnbull he's a standout in a bottom 6 spl team! I think you need a bit of perspective lol.

23.) 13 Jun 2019 12:29:28
someone mentioned Turnbull will end up like Allan and i agree

we are talking about who we would drop for him but who do celtic drop for him? as he's classed as more of a an attacking midfielder then Mcgregor and Christie are their 2 main picks so his game time will be extremely limited

another talented scottish youngster who will be wasted.

24.) 13 Jun 2019 12:52:38
barrow lad rangers are not in a position to spend 3million on a young promising footballer i think most would agree, celtic are in a position financially to take a chance on such players, unless rangers sell one of their better player and i do believe they have some good players that would bring money in to the club then they have to hope they find some more kamara's.

25.) 13 Jun 2019 14:18:50
How do you know what financial position we are in? You have to laugh at all the cardboard accountants from the other side. I'd suggest that perhaps we have more disposable capital than you at the moment, if you know what I mean?

26.) 13 Jun 2019 15:12:42
one assist against a top 3 team. 3 goals against the next 3 and the rest, including penalties, against the bottom 6. not seeing 3 mill from anybody and not seeing 300K either for that matter. please, go ahead, waste your money.

27.) 13 Jun 2019 16:53:58
seeker you can't spend any money because king will need it to give to big mike.

30 May 2019 20:31:19
I honestly think keeping tav is more important than keeping Kent . He has been one of those players who has frustrated me over the years, however recently his all round play has been superb and his goals and assists are priceless. definitely wouldn't sell him .

1.) 30 May 2019 22:52:50
Agreed djab where else would we get someone his quality in supplying assists hope he stays.

07 Apr 2019 21:05:21
Said on here weeks ago that Davis was our best midfielder when everyone was saying he was finished . All he needed was a run of games . A class act, and we should be keeping him for next season .

1.) 08 Apr 2019 08:41:34

Think you are being a bit premature in your praise of Davis. Let’s see how he performs in the next 5 games against better sides than Motherwell.

16 Mar 2019 14:47:13
Glad Davis starts today, I think he will turn it on today. Would have played Defoe instead of candeias all the same .

1.) 16 Mar 2019 15:58:08
Firstly- let me say that I like Stevie G. But I can see him resigning if things on the park stay as they are. The team are not playing to a standard required for a club like Rangers, we can all pull our hair out, but he is the man in charge, it’s his team, so the buck stops with him. I just want the team to turn up for the guy, and for ( bleep ) sake give the supporters something to cheer about.

2.) 16 Mar 2019 18:04:30
we should play the kilmarnock way, but 9 players in the box, see if they have guts to come break us down. the hit them on the counter. poor balls and poor final passes in or around the box. then missing chances we we have them. when teams park the bus you aren't going to get many clear goal scoring opportunities so you need to take them while you can. also we are far too slow in getting the ball from back to front allowing them to regroup. we should be outrunning them back towards their goal and the ball played long in occasions to mix it up a bit.

17 Feb 2019 18:52:30
Let's be honest, when it's your season you get lucky goals like Celtic got today, it always seems to be the way. We need a couple of game changers for next season and it will be even closer. We are getting there. I have a sneaky we will win the Scottish cup this season and by doing it the hard way.

I would take him. I would also look at walker and paterson when fit

from hearts. Throw in a few players from abroad who Pedro knows and at least we'd have some hope to a better season next year. we also need a striker who will score at least 20 and garner isn't the man for that.

Nice post tompo, well done for being honest . Yes I agree I can’t believe gerrard could take us to the group stages after only a few months in the job with practically a brand new team . Maribor are 64th overall in the euro stats so that’s some performance and one I thought at the outset of the competition was nigh impossible!

Bates is very average Ausbear. He will get found out in Germany. He’s not the answer, we need stronger defenders to compete than him sir!
