I still can’t understand why people still mention pay as you play contracts. genuinely when was the last time you heard someone getting signed on one of those for Rangers or anybody really for that matter. especially a boy that just come off a £100k pw contract and could realistically sign something similar in China, Qatar, USA etc?

If it’s not just about the money though and he’s just desperate to play, there’s still no need for him to entertain a pay as you play contract when I’m sure there’s some PL teams and plenty from the Championship that would consider even a 1yr contract on money in the bracket a player of his CV demands regardless of injuries. Hopefully we’re considering something along those lines.

It would be good to sign him or another capable RB as we do need one and from what I’ve seen of Patterson I Personally don’t think he has the quality to be a number one choice in the near future. I am however tired of people slaughtering Tav, 6counties for example “ If he can defend thens he's better than tavenier right away “.

As we all know defending isn’t Tav’s strongest area but the guy has contributed 46 goals and 74 assists (give or take a couple) over the past 5 seasons which for a RB is outstanding. It’s mentioned he’s caught out of position all the time but surely management has to take responsibility for that too?

If a player is constantly what be perceive to be out of position then the management need to correct that but they don’t which would indicate they ask him to play like a modern day full back in advanced positions and this is where cover on the counter must come from holding midfielders which for the amount we’ve had over the seasons very few have been good enough to do the job.

Barton, Holt, Halliday and so on (as much as I’m fond of the latter) Jack and Davis are the only two in my opinion that have been good enough. I believe if Tav was asked to purely defend then you would most likely see better defensive performances but he’s asked to take risks and as we’ve all seen has made mistakes which have directly led to goals but there’s also been times where there is an accumulation of errors from other players. misplaced pass, someone not tracking their man before it gets to Tav but he gets the blame.

I’m not by any means saying he’s perfect and immune to criticism from me but to say if another player can defend then he’s already better than Tav I think is unfair. I can’t defend his comments in the programme though but again. accumulation of errors. he shouldn’t have said it but who ok’d that to be published?

Why do so many people mention pay as you play deals on here? . It was the same with Sturridge. The last time I heard of a pay as you play was Craig Gordon (not even sure if right with this) and the guy had come out of a forced early retirement. Someone like Andy Carrol could most likely still get a contract from a lowly Prem team, if not, then Championship or even League 1. he’s above that level but I’m just meaning even a good few league 1 teams could offer a fantastic wage and that’s before you think of MLS, China and the Middle East. My point is these guys prob won’t ever need to consider a pay as you play deal when they can get contracts on great wages somewhere in the world so I personally don’t think pay as you play deals are worth speculating about.

I was with you until you mentioned Sturridge on a pay as you play deal.

Anyway why do pay as you play deals keep being mentioned as rumours. how often do you actually see anybody on a pay as you play deal.

Highland Bear, it’s all good saying we should be trying to sign Kent for 3-4m but unfortunately it’s not us that decide his price. When teams like a newly promoted Villa are floating around for whom £10-12m is pocket change then there’s no chance of getting him for £3-4m, these are the prices these type of players go for.

As for being concerned about loan deals then as long as they improve our team and help us get a result then no. In the case of Ryan Kent everybody is a winner, we get a great player from a market we cannot compete in, Liverpool increase the value of an asset and the player gets some of the best experiences in football and develops as a player.

To mention using someone like holt over loaning Ejaria is absurd, I love holt and his passion for the jersey but he’s limited in his ability and to be honest I’d rather have someone with the ability of Ejaria for half a season than Holt for a full. just wish Ejaria had more bottle. You do have a great point with Docherty and Coulibaly though and I hope to see more of Docherty next season.
