Was hopeful we would ready a bid after Euro qualification but Gerard pretty much stated deal is dead recently.
I think we might try and buy or loan to buy in next window but unless there’s some last minute transfer window surprise (and there usually is) I am less optimistic than ever we will get him in now.
Who knows maybe all the focus shifts to Sunday then the situation may be revisited 🤞ðŸ».

I think a deadline day swoop for Kent is quite likely.
Kent rotten away in the reserves is completely pointless to Liverpool so why wouldn’t they accept 4-5 million for a player in their reserve team or at the very least get the boy back out playing on loan for 1st team European football instead of rotten away in reserve and devaluing by the day? Another good season on loan and they may well get their 10million next summer from an English club .
Only worry is he may have annoyed a few people at Liverpool with trying to push a move through to rangers so maybe they will leave him in the reserves as punishment.

SG said nothing had changed, in other words Liverpool want as much as they can get for him, he wants to come to us and we are hoping to get him for a more realistic price before the window closes.
As things stand I am hopeful a deal can be done as it seems clear Kent is keen on playing for us, we want him and Liverpool are looking to sell.
They are trying to get as much money as they can, that is completely understandable. We want him as cheaply as is possible, that is also logical. He wants to return to the place he now loves and knows he is loved, this is also clearly sensible.
We just need to wait and trust that these things will work themselves out.

With the midfield injuries, what would people's opinion of taking Allan Campbell from Motherwell for pennies? We did it with Kamara and it was a great signing. I feel Campbell would bring something different to the middle of the park that we no longer have letting Ross McCrorrie go. Not saying he is a stick on or the exact player we need as I think Lundstram would be the better option but just wonder what people's thoughts were.

I like Campbell when I’ve seen him play. He’s always impressed me good dig from outside the box aswell. He could possibly be a good squad player for us. I wouldn’t buy him but if we get him on a free and he’s happy to play a back up role a 2 year deal could be a good idea. He’s a very decent player.

Herewego - I like Arfield but he’s hardly had a glittering career? Falkirk to Burnley that were in the championship. Promoted to the Premier league and then a good squad player that they were happy to let go.
When he is on it, he is on it - but I’ve never seen a player go off the books as much as he does.
One week he is top class, the next he can’t control it with his third touch.
As I said imho there isn’t much between them, Arfield still edges it but Campbell has more potential.
Too many people up here think because people come from unfashionable clubs that they aren’t any good - fck why when there are so many examples that have proven otherwise.

I have a genuine question and as much as I hate it, it is a what if question. What if we do sign Wilshere now? Does that mean we are giving up on Lundstram or does this mean we would try get both and here is the what if. If we signed both Wilshere and Lundstram, who would play as the 3rd CM? Think the lad Patterson does deserve a chance to prove himself with a run in the 1st team. We won’t know what he is like until this happens. As previously mentioned Tierney and Hickey were given their opportunity at a young age and look how they have flourished. If Gerrard is just going to use Patterson now and again then the lad is wasting his time at the club and would be better off going out on loan or leaving. Tavernier is one of the poorest defenders I’ve seen at the club recently and constantly makes the same mistakes.

If it is true the sheep accepted 2 million for Cosgrove then I think we should go for him. Before anyone shoots me down just listen. A striker that scores with his left foot, right foot and head, can bully a defence, can play with another striker but also himself, is a threat from set pieces, scores basically every penalty he takes and has scored in our league consistently. Why is that a bad signing? Yes he is a Aberdeen player but so was Jack and he has consistently performed and is probably my favourite player in the squad. If we bid 1 million or even 1.5 it would probably be accepted and a very good signing in my eyes. He offers a different dynamic with his size. I get that people will disagree but don't just shoot it down and give a reasonable argument to why we shouldn't.

I think if we could get him for 1.5M then we should definitely consider it for the same reasons you mentioned. Sometimes when we are desperate for a goal and you know we are going to flood the box we need that aerial threat that atm we simply don’t have.
When you think how much money we have squandered over the last few years, this type of deal just makes sense. A young, powerful lad that is proven at this level.

I get that a lot of people do not like the idea of a big attacker for us because they don't have a "turn of pace for a big guy" but people on here really need to realise what wins football games. It doesn't always have to be pretty and for the comment about red cards, Morelos is petulant and we have put up with it but Cosgrove has a few red cards and its not okay? Morelos was lucky not to have more. I am a big fan of him but his sending offs lead us to an impossible title chase and I would not mind Cosgrove or Dykes being signed as a 3rd option.
