Portuguese media claiming we've signed Eliseu from benfica.

PapaBear

1.) 22 May 2017 21:26:12
Please be true fantastic player 🙏

2.) 22 May 2017 21:45:33
IS he on his way over on his scooter lol

3.) 22 May 2017 22:19:44
He is a very good player touch of class

4.) 22 May 2017 22:20:06
no they are not because if this was true our press would have picked up on it as they have access to press reports world wide so i don't know where you got your info from.

5.) 22 May 2017 22:54:28
He is out of contract in June, so a possibility

6.) 23 May 2017 00:22:17
Nothing in A Bola. their biggest sports paper, or in the English language Portugal News. Nothing either on their TV channels. Fake news.

7.) 23 May 2017 08:25:57
To be fair though, rangers signing a player on a free is hardly going to be worthy of a mention the Portuguese news channel

8.) 23 May 2017 11:06:09
Absolutely NOTHING in the Portuguese media about this. Easy enough to search. There's passing on rumours and then there's just absolutely making stuff up.

9.) 23 May 2017 12:45:24
He has not made this up, unfair criticism. He's talking about a recent tweet from '@SolucoesCertas' on twitter. Stating Eliseu to us is a done deal. Not sure there is much truth in it as the account only has 25 followers, mostly made up of Rangers fans. So I am calling bull on this on

Unfair to so readily jump on Papabear for posting this 'rumour' albeit his use of 'media' was slightly exaggerated.

10.) 24 May 2017 07:56:38
33 years old not type of player we should be looking at if we want to challenge another Nuno Capucho

08 Jan 2017 00:27:08
Sunday papers reporting we're looking at Andrew considine of Aberdeen

PapaBear

1.) 08 Jan 2017 16:52:09
Now all Of the rumors this one will probably have the most truth to it a MW Type player (crap) going by his previous signings especially defenders at the onlt one mentioned who in reality wages we could afford, hope not but Probably true just remember a certain Forrester from the sheep a few seasons back!

2.) 08 Jan 2017 17:21:48
Don't remember a Forrester from the sheep.

3.) 08 Jan 2017 18:03:29
Who and when was Forrester from the sheeo mate?

4.) 08 Jan 2017 19:51:24
He means Ricky Foster. Jeez oh.

5.) 08 Jan 2017 20:25:11
Papabear, hearing that we will definitely sign jon toral (arsenal) and emerson hyndman (bournemouth), both 6 month loan deals and of course both are midfielders. Warbs is also hoping to tie up these 2 pre contract signings for next season, centre half andrew considine (aberdeen) and striker rushian hepburn-murphy (aston villa) . If we can agree a fee with both aberdeen and aston villa then warbs would like to sign both for rangers this month!

07 Jan 2017 12:01:57
Heard Ali crawford would jump at a chance to join us. This never happens but I actually do have a source as I know his girlfriend and a friend of mines is pally with Craig Watson at Hamilton who also said rangers is most likely for Crawford. Think it comes down to whether the interest from rangers is concrete as Crawford has spoke with members of Rangers recruitment team seemingly. If I hear anything else I'll pass it on.

PapaBear

1.) 07 Jan 2017 13:39:59
Of course he'd jump at the chance of joining us, it would like be winning the lottery for him. Sadly, he's nowhere near what we require.

2.) 07 Jan 2017 15:21:44
Agreed he is no were near good enuff!

3.) 07 Jan 2017 16:43:46
Is he really any worse than Holt and Halliday! At least he gets good write ups in the press. The last time Halliday had a game for us was against Celtic last season and he has been living on that since.

4.) 07 Jan 2017 18:45:31
Totally agree tomusa Halliday needs replaced and I would have Crawford over him any day of the week.

5.) 07 Jan 2017 21:21:08
No not at all if haliday played for Hamilton he would stand out like a sore thumb as a great player for them. its a totally different thing playing for rangers and Crawford is not good enuff at all.

Forrester confirming on his twitter feed that "Rumours and reports that I have been suspended are totally false and inaccurate. "

wonder why the MSM keeping making up these stories. Is it to get the fans to turn on our players? I saw a couple of tweets to forrester following the rumour he was suspended and I was unimpressed by some of the accusations people put to him. lesson should be learned to wait till things are confirmed before questioning players. let's not forget that for as long as they remain rangers players, they are part of our family and should be treated with respect irrespective of their footballing ability.

PapaBear

1.) 15 Jun 2017 11:12:23
i am one of the only fans of this boy left in the rangers support.
i have always said he has the quality to make it to the big time i honestly believe that his twinkle toes and eagerness to win the ball back is brilliant he lacks in the shooting department but that could change in a season.

if he does have a bad attitude and is always late for training then yes get rid of him but honestly i'd like to see in featured in our first team as a no.10 or out on the right. scoff all u guys want but he has great feet great first touch and when he does pass he has great vision

19 May 2017 09:50:04
Oh dear. And let it begin. king promised £12m on transfer fees etc. etc. when this doesn't materialise I hope everyone realises how wrong they are reading through the posts. King has said all the season ticket money is going towards "the football squad". Yes that's about £12m but we already spend something like £7m on player wages just now so that leaves £5m. Once the club pay agent fees and add new wages to that bill from bosmans, i can't see much of the £5m being left for actual transfer fees. Maybe £2m at most. Mind 20k per week in wages is £1m per year to give an idea of how quickly the £5m would disappear.

PapaBear

1.) 19 May 2017 12:21:47
He actually said the whole budgets going into the 'transfer kitty' not the playing squad look out your glasses

2.) 19 May 2017 13:35:41
Full quote from king:
“All of our season ticket money will be invested in the football squad as we continue to work towards taking our club back to the very top of Scottish Football"

I don't wear glasses but I suggest u go to specsavers mate.

It's no secret that we struggle with our CB's and this season Liam Lindsay has caught my eye. young, good centre back at 6ft 3. One to watch out for in the future imo and would like to see him join us. together with Bates I think that would be good options for us to have breaking through. Would keep Wilson as I think he is sold short and on his day can be really good. Hill I believe may retire and I would get rid of Kiernan as soon as possible. next season would like to see a good experience CB on Pedro's choice join us, Wilson, Bates, Lindsay and Senderos (only cause we won't be able to get rid of him and he has another year on his deal) .

Any CB's out there you guys would like to see us go for that's realistic?

PapaBear

1.) 15 Mar 2017 17:09:34
Does anyone else find it alarming how many times Wilson gets caught out by a bounce ball or misjudges the flight of the ball? My mate's a season ticket holder at Tynecastle and says it happened pretty regular with him at Hearts too.

2.) 15 Mar 2017 17:41:11
Kiernan is statistically our best defender wins more on the ground and in the air than any other CB. IF Pedro can coach the mistakes out him or change his style of play he's maybe worth another year.

3.) 15 Mar 2017 17:47:39
Lwdawson, totally agree with your comment. Wilson is shocking and gets nowhere near the abuse directed at Kiernan but makes far more mistakes and is also lazy at best. Dundee, Inverness, Parkhead to name but three places where he has single-handedly cocked up or misjudged the flight of a long ball.

4.) 15 Mar 2017 21:20:09
Kiernan is rank rotten and neither he or Wilson are the answer. Hopefully Warburton will take Kiernan to Forrest but that would seem to good to be true

5.) 16 Mar 2017 09:54:36
I'd like us to go for the young hamilton CB. I think he's there captain also?!
I reckon having him and bates ( both youngish ) with Wilson ( still reckon there is a player there if he has 2 FBs who defend ) and getting in another experienced CB would give us good options.
I'd chase Senderos and hopefully Warburton comes in for Kiernan.

6.) 16 Mar 2017 17:03:55
Papabear, like you, i really like the look of partick thistle centre half, liam lindsay, and have actually posted on here before, as to us going to try and sign him! The centre half i would like us to sign up for next season, is the current ipswich town centre half, christophe berra!

7.) 16 Mar 2017 17:40:19
Wilson is a liability like Kieran both should b sold at end of season get two decent central defenders and a new captain as Wallace is never a leader, get a solid defense first and someone to boss the midfield.

8.) 16 Mar 2017 18:09:03
Kiernan is actually a better defender than Wilson imo

9.) 16 Mar 2017 19:29:16
Kiernan maybe wins more on the ground or in the air but it's usually 25 yards out of position when he should be nowhere near it. Hill and Wilson have looked by far the most solid pairing this year even though they're both left sided.

10.) 16 Mar 2017 23:28:49
kyle bartley played with us knows what its about and has got better over time plus i'd love to see him go through brown again that was a brilliant challange lol

11.) 16 Mar 2017 23:33:02
Papa bear, I scouted younger players for many years and if I was scouting Lindsay I'd be at the point of getting a second opinion because there's a player there, but he might lack a bit of mobility and of course he's still raw. My verdict would be worth a punt, he's 21, give him a season or two and see what's there.

Seemingly Caxinha's club have rubbished claims he's met with Rangers for the manager role. He was in Qatar yesterday to take charge of a game which in itself doesn't say much as he could have flown back to Qatar on Tuesday evening after being interviewed.

Also, media reporting Wilson has asked for more time to consider move to Rangers. If he's not jumping at the chance to come to us then I doubt his commitment if he does decide to come and would have him as a short term flight risk. From the beginning I preferred Mitchell of Tottenham as he was more responsible for Southampton's current setup than Wilson who is getting credit for someone else's work and imo has made poor signings for Southampton since joining them.

PapaBear

1.) 03 Mar 2017 15:07:56
Pedro was in London last week supposedly for talks with Rangers not a few days ago

2.) 03 Mar 2017 20:16:52
its beginning to look like our directors are backing the wrong horses here and are in danger making a huge mistake. Why can't they act like normal people for once and forget the DOF role for now and get big Eck in to steady the ship. and if he gets us 2nd or 3rd then give him the bloody job permanently!

3.) 03 Mar 2017 20:07:00
Wilson will be seeking assurances over what will be available to him. Not a lot I'd imagine.

4.) 04 Mar 2017 12:24:09
Poor signings? Like gabbiadini, van dijk, redmond, Romeu? Southampton r absolutely class!

5.) 04 Mar 2017 12:25:58
He was probably told a figure he could live with then thr next meeting that he was supposed to sign on the dotted line they let him know that's over the next few years and he has changed his mind.
Thats just my thinking

29 Jan 2017 10:58:49
My thoughts on yesterday's game:
1) Miller has earned a contract extension, no doubt
2) halliday continues to struggle DM role
3) kiernan remains a bomb scare and could very easily have been sent off
4) I fear we won't see MoH start a game again for us this season and will be sold in the summer
5) Hyndman is everything I hoped Holt would be. Boys a player and shows just how below standard Holt is for me
6) McGhee was livid, this pleases me

A number of my mates are motherwell fans and when I told them this rumour they laughed and said "take him! ". They don't rate him at all and imo this would be a really poor signing. Would rather Liam Lindsay.

I may be wide of the mark here as I'm no employment law expert but I thought given the nature of footballers contracts that it doesn't fall under the standard rules of employment law? Put it this way, you cannot under any circumstance "trade" a standard employee with transfer fees, however you can in football as they are essentially treated as assets on their balance sheets as available for sale assets. The contracts that govern footballers are unique to that industry and unless you know employment law specific to sports players, I'm not convinced they fall under the standard rules. It may very well be easier to punt barton that some believe and I recall Fran Sandaza's case of dismissal which didn't last very long.

I'm not a fan of kiernan as I think his positioning, aerial ability and tackling are all really poor. However the goal last night was not kiernans fault for once. He correctly faced the oncoming attacker as being the nearest defender. Hill should in that scenario track the runner. To be out sprinted by Boyd, sickening stuff!

I work with John's sister and got her to ask him if he would come to Rangers. He said not a chance. I do like him as a player and think he can have a bright future in the Scotland squad but he needs to move away from Hibs imo and his attitude towards that question will hold him back in his career and shows a lack of ambition. Can't see celtic going for him so if he wanted to move up a level rangers would be his best option and yet he has no interest. Off down south to be lost in the wilderness of mediocrity of the English football it is then!

Ironically we could really do with a manager with Lennon's traits. Could you imagine he was appointed and the meltdown that would occur from the celtic lot? We've had players cross the divide before but never a manager.

Your expectations are pretty high BarcaBear. While those qualities would be ideal, I can't think of anyone that fits your criteria. Would be better if you rank your criteria from most important to least important to give a better sense of what you deem an acceptable manager for us.

This is an incredibly valid point and one I made privately to my friends at the beginning of the season. Simply put, the expectation level placed on players who are frankly from mediocre backgrounds is completely misplaced. The players were signed by Warburton and while they were good enough for the Scottish championship, how could we realistically expect a bunch of English league 1 level players who couldn't even get a game for their clubs at the time to compete with Celtic in the league. I saw this coming although I had hoped that there was some hidden talent with them all that Warburton saw that we as fans couldn't. Even Windass who seems to be quite popular amongst our support is pretty poor and while he has the odd moment of setting up a chance, his overall contribution like the rest in the squad is pretty dire. I'm currently feeling very despondent at the situation we find ourselves in and it speaks volumes against those players we signed when Barrie McKay, a product of a shoddy youth system and ignored to the point that he was almost released until Warburton happened to give him a shot, is better than the lot of them. When we played Hearts, I remember looking through their squad and picking out all the players I would take from them in a heartbeat to replace the mediocrity we currently have. Would take Paterson instead of Tavernier, Souttar instead of Kiernan (heck I'd take a traffic cone instead of Kiernan), Kitchen as our DM, Cowie in place of Halliday, Walker instead of waghorn, Johnson instead of Garner, even Hamilton instead of foddy. Even Nicholson when he came on looked impressive and all that is just from ONE team. Warburton has went to England and cherry picked mediocre players from a terrible league (I will never buy that league one is a better standard than SPL as I believe Celtic, Aberdeen and hearts would beat those teams with most of their players being English championship level imo) . The lack of passion in our team is down to these guys. They are league 1 level for a reason, they never strived to be the best, to be winners, to be Rangers quality.
