Appalling defending, particularly at 2nd goal - until we learn to cut out crosses at source, and show appropriate urgency and determination in these defensive situations, we are doomed to fail. Deja vu - when the pressure is on domestically, the mental strength needed is sadly missing from this squad of players. The buck stops with the manager, unfortunately; it pains me to say that, but how many seasons do you need to get people to do the basics? We can't afford to continue failing in this manner or we will not win leagues or cups. I just hope we learn from it (finally) and go on to give our fans the success they crave and deserve. Gutted.

I go down to newcastle regularly and have lifelong geordie pals down there and i've never heard any of the 12 of them saying andy carroll supports celtic and hates rangers, so i don't know where you're getting this info from? 🤔All my geordie pals are newcastle utd season ticket holders and 5 of them are shareholders also and are newcastle to the core! They all like rangers and regard us as their 2nd favourite team! 👌ðŸ‘.

KJA9 my old friend. If you had been on these pages long enough, as i have, you would have known through my posts of even 3 or so years ago now, that newcastle are my favourite english team and my cousin married a geordie a good few years back now and that my friend is why i got friendly with a good few of the geordies! I've been at st. james' park a good few times, when we've been down seeing family and friends there. I'm going to nickname you doubting thomas, as i can't print what a cracking nickname i have for you 😂 So you have your laugh pal as i'm pleased this amuses you! Because i have friends and family in newcastle, you get a laugh at that?

Reading between the lines; if Eddie Howe has agreed to this loan, I suspect he has been given some assurances re potential game time; i. e. we are going to play 3 at the back; maybe not every game at first, but I've always thought this was SG's overall preference; purely based on my own interpretation of some of his comments.

I hope Alf stays but looks like he's going - he has been a formidable striker for us, even with all the issues and I, for one, thank him and wish him all the best. It's not ideal to be losing our top goalscorer at this stage, and not having a replacement already settled in to the squad, but we have to be realistic re the times we are in. No doubt we need the money for him b4 we can buy the quality required to replace him; and due to pandemiç the completion of his move has probs been delayed, as clubs waited to see what was happening re return of leagues. No need for drama; we just have to deal with it and move on.

He's 31 &, i think, coming to the end of his contract. Maybe these factors influenced the price?
