I know Tav has been taking a lot of flak this weekend but here is my point of view. Stevie G persists with playing a back four but wants Tav and Bsrisic to push on as wingbacks.
With Worrall, an accident waiting to happen, in the centre of defence. Sorry, not for me.
Against SJ there was neither press nor pace. Fod slows the game down as do Goldson and Worrall with slow crossfield passes. Stevie G appears to accept it.
We ripped the auld enemy apart with press and pace and that is the minimum we should expect game in game out. We are not playing Man City or Barcelona! . Its the SPL and dross like Saturday is not good enough!
Stevie G has to sort it now. A trophy less season is not acceptable with the backing he has had from the board. Every game from now till May has to be played like the Old Firm game.

Gerrard job is to manage the players choose the team change tactics motivate the players recommend signings.
So why does gerrard see it fit to criticise the players even when the win he comes out says performances ain't good enough.

2.) 18 Feb 2019 09:16:19
When we have won games this season i have seen gerrard come out after games and still said it was a bad performance for me this is not right he should be building players confidence not demolition morale.
He is the one in charge of picking tactics and picking the team so when things are not going well results or in game wise why does he not change tactics or make subs eirley instead of leaving it and hoping for the best.
Gerrard is the one in charge but he doesn't seem to be learning from the mistakes he makes and does the same things over and over again and we end up with same poor performances.
It is not just one of games we are poor we are consistently poor in a lot of games and only turning up for a few games a season.
If he is going to keep blaming the players man up and drop the players that are not performing even if it has to be for some of our youth players i bet they would give 100 percent for the jersey.
I do not want gerrard to go but he has got start changing things he does to get the best out of these players or he is going to find himself in trouble.

Another woeful performance, and as a fan of Stevie G I see worrying signs.
Is he preoccupied with and prioritising the Europa League?
Does he recognise that the league is and always will be our priority?
Is he in danger of becoming the SPL Tinkerman?
Why can't he energise and motivate a pretty decent squad?
Why does he tolerate the overpassing, lack of pace and lack of aggressive press in our team?
Does he actually know what his best eleven is?
Most importantly, can he identify AND FIX, the problems?
It really has to get better and quickly, because at present we have slipped into reverse gear. Another barren season is simply not acceptable.

9shots on target 14 courners I thought his subs were spot on and we’re proactive, at some point the players have to take responsibility, and as for a decent squad let’s be brutally honest not 1 of our 11 would get into Celtics team. Seriously big money needs spent to challenge for the title and after reading about more huge loses over the last 6months I wouldn’t count on that happening. Walter Smith would even struggle to challenge Celtic with the gulf in class there is and believe me that hurts to say that.

2.) 01 Nov 2018 09:27:08
Scottsdad. When the going get tough the tough gets going. U advocating we get rid of him
Support SG and the team.

Are you trying to tell me MCGREGOR, GOLDSON, and MORELOS wouldn’t get in their starting 11.

4.) 01 Nov 2018 11:04:37
Mcgregor no better are worse than Gordon, Eduardo is an 8million pound player and for all Leigh Griffiths faults he’s a better goalscorer than Morelos, Goldson would probably be in with a shout to be fair, even by your argument 3 out of 11 is pretty conclusive about gulf in class.

5.) 01 Nov 2018 11:25:17
Goldstone s distribution is as bad as Tavs crossing.

6.) 01 Nov 2018 12:35:22
Jboy 21,I began by stating that I am a fan of Stevie G, and I have been attending games for over 50 years. Being a supporter doesn't mean you can't see flaws in the team or the manager.
I was appalled on Sunday to see Sadiq in the team for one of the biggest games of the season. Stevie G said himself the lad was a long way short of what is required.
Tav taking every dead ball kick, and wasting them, hasn't been working. SG changed that last night, to Halliday, but in latter part of the match it was back to Tav, and he wasted them!
SG also waited way too long on Sunday to make changes, and I was appalled to see one of his assistants running out to the technical area, notebook in hand, to show him what the changes should be!
No one is immune from criticism because we all want success, and SG gets a lot of slack because he is a young manager learning his trade and inherited a shambles.
But watching Worrall, for example, are you convinced he is better than Katic was early in the season? How defensively poor have we been on our left hand side in recent games with Worrall and Flanagan?
We bought Gredza, by general concensus a quality player, and he disappears. Why?
Opinion is what the game is all about, that and wanting your team to succeed. Stevie G has no problem admitting he makes mistakes, eg the last minute Wallace substitution vs Motherwell, so what is your problem?
We all want success, we pay to watch our team, and we have every right to say how we think that is best achieved.

7.) 01 Nov 2018 13:45:53
Spot on dad.

8.) 02 Nov 2018 06:52:37
We might all disagree on here but everyone's entitled to an opinion. I don't think I'd come on the site if it wasn't for the different opinions, makes it interesting.

I am a total fan of Stevie G but he made major and costly mistakes today!
No-one but no-one expected Sadiq to play today and after that abject totally clueless performance, culminating in a booking for diving when, if he had stayed on his feet he might have scored. He did nothing but impersonate a lump of wood!
Stevie G compounded his mistake by leaving him on the pitch! Send him back to Roma tomorrow!
Middleton or Kelly or Gredza could not have been worse.
Secondly that is 2games in quick succession where our deadball expert, Tav, failed with every free kick and corner. Yet he continued to take them! No managerial activity from Stevie G!
Finally, Stevie G has appeared slow to make changes. When he did, it was by the book. Was I the only one who saw his assistant out showing him the change in a notebook?
When the book is failing its time to rip up the book!
Final comment, the current midfield is too pedestrian and lacks a runner who can play the killer pass to open up a defence. Dorrans is out long term at best, so get Steven Davis signed in January!

1.) 28 Oct 2018 20:15:14
Spot on mate. Davis is a must for January.

2.) 28 Oct 2018 20:23:04
Never been a fan of tav, never a captain for me.

3.) 28 Oct 2018 23:14:17
Mcc the knife,

Spot on about Tavernier awful defender who is never a Rangers captain and who continually takes corners when it’s clear he can’t take them.

17 Sep 2018 14:36:28
Wasn't one A McCoist goal shy during first, 15 "months at Ibrox, playing with better teammates. Just a thought!
My problem with Morelos is indiscipline which with 2 main strikers we cannot afford.
Hopefully SG will sort it out, but I do have doubts. If not, punt him!

1.) 17 Sep 2018 15:31:52
Noted on Saturday, once the legs start to go, that's when he gets involved in silly tackles pushes and mouthing off.
I was shouting at the telly for 10 minutes for SG To get him off before he was sent off AGAIN!
He must have heard me eventually lol!

2.) 17 Sep 2018 16:15:52
Total liability need rid of said same last year not prolific enough to put up with.

3.) 17 Sep 2018 22:47:30
FFS listen to yourselves - He has done well in the time he has been here, he has so much more to his game than just scoring - Coulibaly smashed the first on Saturday just before Morelos hit it - he was involved in the build up with Kents goal, brought down for a penalty and scored a cracker which was wrongly ruled off for offside.

Dundee player wiped him out on touch line and the petty fouls on him all day its no wonder he gets frustrated, Yes he needs to channel that and over time it will improve but he's young and it will come - Get off his back and support the lad - he will fire us to 55 in a few months time.

4.) 18 Sep 2018 00:05:46
That’s not what his Colombian team mates think.

02 Sep 2018 15:16:53
Early days so let's not overreact.
Two fundamental points though.
Much as I like Tav, he cannot defend! . Therefore in certain games, particularly away at the likes of Legoland and Pittodrie, Flanagan should play right back and Tav further forward as part of a midfield 5.
Secondly I genuinely worry about the contracts of the two Liverpool loanees, Ejaria and Kent. The former was excellent midweek but woeful today and should have been subbed Early doors.
I personally think Candieas gives us much more than Kent all over the pitch and covers back much more effectively.
Hope SG will sort it out but worry about guarantees given regarding loanee playing time.
Coulibaly was much missed!

Gerrard must learn that Rangers teams don't go to the piggery and sit in and try to contain them.

Your Ross Countys and Partick Thistles and Livingstons do that.

You have to go at them and there was no high press today.
Hope this is a lesson learned.
Dissapointed Bluenose.

2.) 02 Sep 2018 15:59:21
Dado have you ever heard of Walter Smith?

The man who always sat deep at the piggery. We fell short today and that can happen. Morelos and Lafferty didn’t hold the ball. Remember our last game was thousand of miles away and we had 9 men for 30 mins.

3.) 02 Sep 2018 16:24:15
Baz Celtic never played their high pressing game when Walter was there.
Brendan does and the only way to combat that is win the midfield to stop their quick attacks at source.
Ejaria has been great but he was blowing out his arse after 50 mins and made brownook good.
Poor tactics by Gerrard, we asked them no. questions.
Dissapointed.

4.) 02 Sep 2018 16:25:19
Baz the bear

Are you seriously comparing the teams that Smith had to the team that Gerrard today? It’s easy to sit deep when you had the players that Smith had.

5.) 02 Sep 2018 16:53:58
Silly statement dadprs0, the teams been together for a couple o months compared to them that have played together for a couple o years. So why go gungho and attack. I think celtic were at there best today and we let them play there own game and gave them far too much time on the ball. We are only going to get better and it is going to
take time to gel as a team.

6.) 02 Sep 2018 17:06:15
Arthur D what is your point?

Yes I am comparing Walter smiths tactics to Gerrard’s today. Do you have a clue about tactics. We let them have the ball first half. We played thousand of miles away on Thursday. We are a new team. We will improve. We had s bad day.

Better teams than Gerrard have been battered at parkhead.

Come on Stevie. Prove all the doubters wrong.

7.) 02 Sep 2018 18:02:10
Baz the bear

The point is that Smith had some seriously top players at his disposal. Defenders like Gough, midfielders like McCall, Gazza, Albertz and forwards like Laudrup and McCoist. Unfortunately Gerrard hasn’t got players anywhere near their class.

If you play one striker he has to 1score the glaring chances at least and 2 stay on the park and control his temperament.
At present Lafferty, in my opinion, is the better option whilst Morelos has a deal to improve but has potential.

I too was shocked by the team selection. I could just about understand Steve Davis getting a break but Jack needs gametime and should have played.
I would also have played Balogun as I don't think Helander is happy on plastic pitches
Midfield was dire!
Greegsy magnificent.
Strongest team every game till the title is won!

Steve Davis must be asking what he has to do to get a game. Jack and Kamara are too similar and basically defensive.
Creativity is lacking and Davis is the best at Ibrox bar none.
The ultimate insult is putting Barker on ahead of Steve.
The lead over the Pork head 11 disappearing fast.

Time to evaluate and its not looking good. Too many nearly players. Kent, not worth 7 million, Morelos has cost us with diving/ suspension and has been poor on his return. Two of our most dependable, Greegsy and Steve Davis, at the wrong end of their careers, Ojo dross, Wish I hadn't thought about this.

Two big concerns, only SG can address
Put out a defensive unit that can DEFEND on Sunday, not paceless apparent favourites.
Goals win cup finals. Use Stewart or Defoe ahead of Ojo.

I feel Davis has not been given enough game time to properly assess. He hardly kicked a ball for Southampton and is bound to be rusty. Its a bit chicken and egg, but his passing skill would be a huge asset, lacking in midfield.
