John Gilligan has stepped down off the board.

21 May 2017 18:05:16
See on twitter weiss tweeted I might be coming back hope its not to rangers thought he wasn't upto much first time around.

bawbag2017

1.) 21 May 2017 19:11:02
Weiss showed glimpses of brilliance and more than mckay great signing

2.) 22 May 2017 08:40:39
15 assists in his time with us. I agree absolute dross player.

3.) 22 May 2017 11:36:24
weiss would be a great signing for us and with Mckay reportedly being told to find a new club then we would need another winger

that being said i'd like to have seen weiss on the left and mckay on the right

naisy will be a massive improvement for us and so will alves if they come.

i do understand people wanting younger players but we need winners for these young boys to look up to so they themselves are winners.

18 May 2017 22:23:08
Alves has given rangers assurances that he's coming and will be Pedro's first signing.

bawbag2017

1.) 18 May 2017 22:34:06
Hope it's true we need at least another four players of that caliber and a fit niko and rossiter.

2.) 18 May 2017 22:56:19
Alves will be great signing mind this man just lifted euro 2016 trophy still got good couple of years in him yet! If it is 1st signing its great start to summer boys

3.) 21 may 2017 11:54:45
when did he say this i havent read anything as i don't read the stories in the sun or daily rebel.

i hope this is true as kiernan was worse than moshni at least he could win a header. definitely the best bit of news i've had in a while

05 May 2017 17:52:19
According to the sub Pedro's been given the green light to spend uoto 1 million on a key player. Not going to get much these days for that kind of money.

bawbag2017

1.) 05 May 2017 18:37:01
Maybe a bit more than that if we get into the group stage

2.) 05 May 2017 19:26:56
We couldn't get half a Joe Garner for 1 million 😔

3.) 05 May 2017 19:56:41
He didn't say he had a million to spend on a player, he was asked by reporter. If there's a player you want that would cost a million would the board be willing to pay it n he said yeah. Might well have more than that but the reporter mentioned the fee no Pedro

4.) 05 May 2017 20:45:06
We won't get anywhere a group stage this year. Keep dreaming.

5.) 05 May 2017 21:41:00
I hope so but I don't think he'd say no.
I do not think we should bring in 12 players as I've heard. Especially 3-4 at £250-400k or so would love 2-3 established 26-28yr olds at £1-1.5m and yeah obviously we will purchase players at around £300k plus free's and loans but we must get some players OUT

6.) 06 May 2017 04:39:41
so you andy you believe we have 4 million to spend on playerS? i think given kings silence you will be let down.

however i do think we can make the group stage given our decent enough past performances in europe.

me, if your right, i would prefer spend 2 million on 2 youngsters who we can sell for money like they do.

also joe garner isn't that bad, he set up the goal agaisnt them and scored one? isn't too bad return.

7.) 06 May 2017 07:10:25
JD

Group stages? We will be lucky to get 2 rounds in the qualifying stages. Won't do anything in Europe and the manager will be under pressure right away

8.) 06 May 2017 08:52:12
I think the Europe situation should be treated realistically, we have been playing the likes of Elgin for most of the last 5 years, so not making the group stages shouldn't be held against Pedro.

9.) 06 May 2017 14:06:37
Really can't see us getting out the qualifying rounds this year especially with this team we have, we will probably get horsed out by a pub team from Malta or something like that

10.) 06 May 2017 14:29:02
If scoring in a 5-1 defeat and setting a goal up in another 5-1 defeat is you're definition of "not a bad return" then thank god you're not in charge

11.) 07 May 2017 10:35:45
I think we should at least give garner another season. Unless we get a good offer for him which ain't going to a happen. He could well get better with other players around him and in a different formation. Only one way to find out. Fact of the matter is next to none of our players are good enough to wear the Jersey so you can hardly just lay the blame at his door. Next season will show us what he's really made of. If pedro gives him that chance that is.

12.) 07 May 2017 15:04:19
Add to that an injury time winner against Partick 😂.

13.) 08 May 2017 13:28:33
I agree with the Garner statement. I don't think the guys a bad player. He's not the type to play on a centre half's shoulder he's a link up striker. More of a number 10 or a false 9 if you like. Dragging defenders out of position to allow our wingers more space in behind the oppositions defence. He's a strong lad good in the air and likes the physical side of the game. He could do well given a good run of games

21 Apr 2017 21:29:55
Rumour that our keeper is injured and will miss Sunday hope it's incorrect.

bawbag2017

1.) 21 Apr 2017 22:15:25
Saw this as well, seems to be growing, this would be about the last thing we need.

2.) 22 Apr 2017 08:19:18
Or could it be another one of Pedro' tactics to throw Celtic of course?

3.) 22 Apr 2017 08:38:28
jak alnwick looks decent tho, used to watch him for port vale, was a solid keeper, crap to miss fod but i believe alnwick will be class

4.) 22 Apr 2017 08:44:30
Don't the other one is just as good

5.) 22 Apr 2017 10:19:59
Wouldn't be surprised given this season so far

6.) 22 Apr 2017 12:21:20
If it is true we just have to have faith in the other keeper remember what happen when Graham Roberts was put into goal was thinking about other time this happened and we got a stand in keeper of the old firm game but for the love off money can't remember his name.

7.) 22 Apr 2017 13:30:50
it was ronald watteraus sure we got i'm on am emergency loan from man city

8.) 22 Apr 2017 14:29:45
Andy Dibble it was mate. March 97.1-0 Bears to all but win 9 in a row

9.) 22 Apr 2017 14:38:20
Andy Dibble?

10.) 22 Apr 2017 16:11:16
Aye Cuillin Andy Dibble. Why?

11.) 22 Apr 2017 17:23:52
Dibble was brought in debut against them went on to get a gers tattoo after we won the league

12.) 22 Apr 2017 17:50:43
It was Andy Dibble, he played a blinder

Apparently alves is open to a move to rangers and would be available for 400k is he worth it.

bawbag2017

1.) 14 May 2017 10:52:15
I would say definitely no. Too old as nd no sell on value. We have to unearth the likes of cuellar or Boumsong, if we are to move forward. Easier said than done of course, but we have to look to the future not the here and now.

2.) 14 May 2017 11:16:53
The only reason we could find a cuellar or boumsong is because we used the ept system. When are fans going realise the days of signing this standark of player are long gone at rangers

3.) 14 May 2017 11:27:18
ALVES younger than Hill. so of corse he's not too old

4.) 14 May 2017 12:05:37
Hopefully we sign alves.

5.) 14 May 2017 12:23:41
i don't believe chic green-

The point I am trying to make is buying young, improving players to sell at a big profit. Those two spring to mind, but we have a woeful record of selling on players for profit.

All about opinions, can someone explain the positives in signing a 35yr old player, costing maybe £500k and say £1m a year basic?

6.) 14 May 2017 12:29:22
I think we need Alves, it's not always about sell on value.

7.) 14 May 2017 12:36:23
Joscro, but what benefits will he bring that will outweigh the negatives I believe?

It is never about sell on value with Rangers, that's what got us into the state we ended up in. No vision at the club, or very limited short term vision at best.

8.) 14 May 2017 13:05:49
I think you're right about good young players being the future but we also need a solid team on the pitch, surely having a good team is just as important as selling a player, £400.000 isn't astronomical for a couple of seasons good service will Pedro gets a few transfer windows to buy good players some potential some established

9.) 14 May 2017 13:16:04
How can you say you Wouldn't take a player who is a current Portuguese international who has Just played a full season in the Italian top flight and played well that's utter madness! Let's just go for Ben henigen or Liam Lindsey then yeah!

10.) 14 May 2017 13:19:58
If we spend £400,000 on a player of his ability and he solids up the defence for two seasons which he will and then help the younger lads along at the same time to me with the huge price tags of today that's money well spent.

11.) 14 May 2017 14:33:47
Anyone how says Alves isn't a good signing obviously knows nothing abt football and Rangers current situation! Davie weir played in a UEFA cup final aged 39! Alves is a current Portuguese international and at 35 he still has plenty in the tank and exactly the no nonsense defender we're badly needing!

12.) 14 May 2017 15:43:59
While I agree that it is better to bring in good young players I would ask two questions, first, who is scouting them, and second, where are we going to find the funds to bring them in.

There are quality young players in Europe, some of them playing in the B sides of real Madrid, the Milan teams etc., but you don't pick them up for peanuts.

Alves is a top quality player and is available for £450,000, we would be off our heads not to sign him. Lucas is also available from Liverpool on a Free Transfer and would be a good signing but I guess his wages would be too high.

We need quality and need to compete, that means signing players that are 100 times better than most of the rubbish that we have at Ibrox at present.

13.) 14 May 2017 16:00:42
We got Rossiter, Crooks and Windass for sell on value and look how that turned out, albeit Rossiter may be an important player for us, I would rather we got trusted players in that are possibly depreciating assets if we put in a serious challenge.

14.) 14 May 2017 16:14:21
Vanbasten9, you should be in charge of SNP propaganda with that view. Interesting though that you would be prepared to shell out up to £3m over two seasons for one player, and slate someone for not knowing about 'Rangers current situation'. How many players of Alves's calibre/ value could Rangers bring in? Where are the funds coming from to pay these players?

15.) 14 May 2017 16:38:44
We may all be pleasantly surprised at what money is available.

16.) 14 May 2017 17:09:20
Cullin 72 I just feel that we need a team that can compete with Celtic mate and I think Alves is a step forward even though he's 35! We were paying joey Barton 20 grand a week I think giving Alves a 2 year contract 20 grand a week isn't a bad move if I'm honest👍🏼

17.) 14 May 2017 17:38:10
Josco, I won't be pleasantly surprised unless it is around the £30m mark! In any event, it will most likely not come from King whatever we end up with!

18.) 14 May 2017 18:13:40
£5m even wouldn't be too bad at all.

19.) 16 May 2017 10:53:22
everyone we need sell on value and i agree we do but not with the whole team we need a balance of youth with experience and on that note alves would be a terrific signing for us and would make our shape a lot better.
we don't need every singing to make us money but we do need every signing to be one that will improve our sqaud.

look at it this way we get a few youth and experience outh can sell on to make us money and experience will help us in europe which will brin its own profits.

if u think we can make money in europe with just youth then u are not so smart my friend

Beyond gutted, as painful as today was I think it's not going to get any better in the near future dark times ahead unless we can find a sugar daddy.

i would and will blame society for any terrible acts like these, if they haven't already, i hope they find the knob and lock him up. I don't care who you support, no one deserves that happen. Secteranism and bigotry, so much to answer for. Get well soon to the victim.

2.) 25 Apr 2017 23:09:40
Couldn't have said it better myself Bhampot.

3.) 26 Apr 2017 10:44:22
Well said OP and Bhampot too. I really hope those Disagrees were accidental.

25 Apr 2017 15:03:13
Willie Henderson saying that we need at least 50 million spent on players to compete with Celtic and he would only keep four of the current squad. Pretty much what I was saying the other day just a putty it's never going to happen.

bawbag2017

1.) 25 Apr 2017 15:27:49
I think we need to spend £500m to have a chance of winning the champions league - can't understand why the board don't just get the chequebook out - are they fans or what?

2.) 25 Apr 2017 16:04:24
25m and we could get very close.

For Saturday we need to play

GK Foderingham
LB Wallace (if Fit, if not Beerman)
CB Hill
CB Wilson
RB Tavernier
CM Holt
CM Toral
LW Dodoo
AM Hyndman
RW McKay
FW Miller

3.) 25 Apr 2017 16:19:04
BR65 why would the biard get the cheque book out and invedt £50mill that they can never get back? Clubs need to live within the funds they generate. Look at the reports coming out of the Craig Whyte trial. I suppose its ok to get the club in the same position again? Do you want admin 2 becsuse if that happens again thete will be no club full stop.

4.) 25 Apr 2017 17:14:58
Sensible response Johnnymac. We don't need to start spending money we don't have again, we do need better players and I hope King and Co are able to finance that.

5.) 25 Apr 2017 17:26:48
With the level of finance we can afford I don't think it's going to get us close. Celtic are no doubt going to strengthen again to widen the gap

6.) 25 Apr 2017 17:34:14
Think you guys need to read BR65 post again.

It has obviously gone over your heads

7.) 25 Apr 2017 18:01:09
I assumed that sarcasm was afoot in BR65's post. 👍

8.) 25 Apr 2017 20:42:03
You got to laugh sometimes!

23 Apr 2017 15:18:35
This team are aweful and everyone knows wee need investment to compete but how much investment do you think we need to compete with Celtic. I honestly think wee need at least 30 million which I know will never happen sad times and unfortunately can't see much improving in near future.

bawbag2017

1.) 23 Apr 2017 15:32:41
I have to say I'm quite impressed with caxihnha, I know uz had a bad performance today but he carries himself well speaks well and is dignified in defeat all good qualities for an old firm manager, given time next season and a wee bit of dough I could see him being a decent success✌️

2.) 23 Apr 2017 16:17:52
Have to agree with kfraser, l think the back four did pretty well taking into consideration that they were pummeled just about the whole game. The midfield were non existent and gave the back four no help or relief and Halliday was slower than a week in the jail. They were like rabbits in the headlights

3.) 23 Apr 2017 18:38:02
I still can't believe that when Dembelle went off and thumb heed was waiting to come on for about 10 minutes and they only had 10 men and all we could do was stoke the ball about in our own half with no attacking being done, that was shocking from a Rangers team!

4.) 23 Apr 2017 18:40:34
Yes mate we do need to spend to compete but a good manager with a good scouting network should be able to compete with the current Celtic side by spending far less than 30 million!

5.) 23 Apr 2017 23:53:49
Got to agree Nic861,people start getting carried away after a defeat. yes we're rotten just now but with abit of luck in the nxt window and bringing in 4 or 5 players that Pedro knows of and maybe a couple of local players like Patterson, Dorrans e. g on frees then that's a good start. and for all these people on here screaming for a total clear out, its not that easy and it just doesn't happen unless we've got 11 guys out of contract.
